It should work fine. The voltage are the same and the adapter [provides more than enough current. I don't have a Genny 3 though, never did like the tiny system especially since it won't work with PBC or Sega CD.

Was it intentionally designed like that?
The newer models of Playstation bothered me because they removed the I/O port from the back. Sure, it make piracy a lot tougher, but it made using a GameShark much more difficult. You had to buy some combination memory card/CD in order to cheat at your games, which was an unnecessary annoyance.

Well the third Genesis was made by Majesco, so maybe they didn't bother to get the licenses for 32x and CD so maybe they just left it off? Cost issues? Genesis 3 always was only $29.99 if I remember correctly. But this is just my guess. Most if not all the games that Majesco rereleased were in paper boxes with black and white instructions, so the theory sorta carries over.

Just look at the Game Gear that Majesco rereleased. Cheap plastic, black and white logos (VS. the RGB ones that Sega used) Plus the screens had scratches under the plastic. Even the Majeco Game Gear cartridges used a more brittle and darker colored plastic with cheaper labels.
