    Default Replacement PS2 disc drive/laser

I was wondering where the best/cheapest place to get a disc drive or a laser for the original model PS2.

Last time I checked, it wasn't even worth the price. Add the labor in, you would just do better trading it it broken and gettng a used system at your local stop.

Typically the cost of replacing PS2 lasers is quite high unfortunately. There are three types of lasers the PS2 full size version uses B, C and K. C type lasers are compatible with systems that take B and C lasers, but not K type lasers. B type lasers are more unreliable than C type lasers so in the case that a system uses a B type laser a C type laser would be used in its place. The best prices I have seen for C type lasers is $62.00 shipped for single lasers on Ebay or $46.00 wholesale in lots of ten. K type lasers tend to run around the same cost or higher than C type lasers. In addition the lasers themselves have arms that screw on to them that allow the laser to move back and forth that typically need to be replaced at the same time, which costs another dollar or two. On the other hand PS2 Slim lasers are about $20.00 each shipped or $14.00 wholesale in lots of ten on Ebay. You can but a broken PS2 slim on Ebay for about $40-$50 shipped, sometimes even lower. These prices are from Double Tech USA. Of course you can always use this as an excuse to buy a PS3 By the way if you do find yourself wanted a laser I buy them in lots of ten from Double Tech USA since I repair them sometimes. So you can get access to the wholesale price without having to buy ten of them if you are interested.
