N64 expansion paks ???

Okay...i'm helping a friend who lives in Austrailia. She needs me to ebay a copy of Majora's Mask & an expansion pak for her...
I know i have to get a PAL copy of the game, but are the expansion paks from different regions interchangeable ? Or do you even need one with the PAL version of the game...?

There's no issue using any memory pak on any N64. And yes, all versions of Majora's Mask require it.

The expansion pak that came with my 64DD does not work with my U.S. N64. I got the 64DD new, so I assumed that it must be some sort of region incompatibility (a U.S. expansion pak works fine) an didn't think much more of it, but maybe the expansion pak is defective--I certainly seemed strange that there would be an issue with the expansion pak when there basically isn't even any problem with Japanese carts in a U.S. system.

Can anyone confirm from personal experience that a Japanese expansion pak should be fully functional in a U.S. N64?

I would think it should be, I stuck a UK expansion in my US N64 and it was fine. Does sound like it could be duff.
