Default Gain Ground SX TurboDuo info

Remember playing the original gain ground at the arcades and then playing it on a sega genesis (one of main reasons I bought that system). The genesis port was fun but ugly as hell. Played the master system version which wasn't much better. Just saw this game and was curious what it was like. Didn't have or know anyone with a turbografx or turboduo growing up so my experience with it is limited. Looked around internet for any reviews or info but as always lacking. Does anyone here own the game? Just trying to find out if the graphics are up to par with the arcade plus does it have the 3 player option. Since its on a cd, the music must be clear instead of that ting ting sound from the carts. Any help would be apreciated since thinking of getting this.

The graphics are great, but the major problem is that the screen scrolls, so you can't plan an initial strategy like you can with the Genesis versions. The sounds are cleaner, and the graphics look closer to the Arcade version. Not sure about the 3-player thing, but I doubt it. Drexel923 owns a copy.

3 player? It doesn't even have a 2 player mode.

Other than that glaring problem it is by far the best version. I don't consider the scrolling an issue actually, because the game has been adjusted to be far less cheap death oriented.

In any case, the best version is Sega Ages version on PS2, if you liked Arcade original version!

The screen scrolls? Thats gotta be a weird effect that throws gameplay off. I mean its more strategy but some levels you need to see everything and change strategy in mid-course. I'm gonna have to give it a test run to see how it plays. Sucks you can only play 1 player. Are the PC emulators for the turbo cd any good?

Yep, Mednafen is the best in terms of compatibility and features, but the worst in terms of interface (it's CLI-driven). You may want to try Ootake. Both are free and both should play just about anything you want to.

...also seconding the love for the Sega Ages 2500 release. I'm hoping Sega releases another Classic Collection with it on there.

Have seen the ps2 "remakes" and curious about them. Stupid question, but is the game in english for the sega ages remake? I ask because more than half of the games I have for various import sega systems games give you option of both settings. Which is pretty cool since I can't speak a word of japanese

PS Hope the sega ages version give you option for 3 players, then I can bring out the multitap for some use
