Default Does anyone use a UPS power back up??

I went out and bought a Belkin UPS battery back up for my older systems. I had read that brown outs or black outs could hurt a system as much as a power surge could. I used it for awhile, but then stuck it in the closet and have been using a standard surge protector. Just wondering what everyone else is using.

I have a 750w UPS that I use for my PC, Monitor, and consoles that I have hooked up to my capture card. The apartment we used to live in was prone to losing power every now and then and it got really fucking old really fucking fast when I lost whatever I was working on or whatever I was playing. Picked up a 350w for my router and modem as well to keep the internet connection nice and stable.

Since buying our house, we've only really had to make use of 'em twice, but both times they came in real damn handy. Nothing like all of the power in the house going out and still having time to save your game and safely power down everything.

I use a 1000w one for my computer, and slighty-heavier-duty-than-average surge protector for the HT.

What I hate is that I only get about 10 minutes of power out of the UPS

Uninterruptable Power Supply. They basically act as a battery backup in case the power goes out.

The linked wikipedia article explains 'em pretty darn well.

I would think that expensive consoles like the 360 could be harmed by brownouts etc. if a PC could be. A UPS sounds like a good idea.

I have alot of UPS's and I love them. They are expensive, but it's well worth it when the power goes out/surges and it saves you from having to replay two hours of gaming, or messing up your high score.

I use APC’s Back-UPS XS 1500 with the attachable Back-UPS RS/XS Battery Pack. Together they provide enough power for several hours of uninterrupted gaming on my power hungry computer system.

I use a 1000VA one. Only really had to use it once or twice so far in a year, but its always nice to have. I have 2 monitors and a 480watt tower PC, but Ive only got the pc and 1 monitor hooked up to it.

I've got 5 APC 600's around the house (my computer, wife's computer, big screen TV downstairs, my 'old computer' desk, and my consoles) - the thought is I can replace a $60 UPC a lot easier than I can replace my PC Engine Duo or C128 setup with a CMD HD.
