Default nes and gum don't go together :(

I bought an old nes at a yard sell thinking it may just be the normal cleaning to get the blinking fixed. Boy am I wrong. It looks like someone stuck gum in a game and then stuck it in the nes. So now i have this old hard stuff stuck on the connector in the nes.

Since I don't want to spring the money for a new connector what would be the best way to go about this? Perhaps a wire brush or something?

Take the NES apart right to that 72 pin connector if you haven't done it and stick the connector in the freezer overnight. A trick that usually works as when gum freezes, it's a solid block and doesn't stick at all and almost always pop out easily.

If that gum has a ninja-like deathgrip on the connector, you could try something stronger like goo-gone (do it outside, they really stink). If all else fails, get a new connector, sorry as it's likely by then the gum would have pulled some contacts out.
Another day, another dollar... wake me when it's payday.
