Default Konami Classics Collection: Arcade Hits (DS)

I could not find a topic on this title, and after reading the IGN preview I could not help but share.

    http://ds.ign.com/articles/760/760928p1.html

It seems that the team really went above and beyond. You can switch games to tate mode, and If you look at the screenshots you can actually control the dip switches just as if they were on the arcade board. Also there are scans of the original manuals and arcade artwork. Additionally you can hook up some headphones and close the DS and just listen to all of the music tracks. The 15 games that are offered may not all be the best Konami has to offer, but the level of detail taken has me quite interested. Does anyone else know anymore about this title or plan to get it?

And I cannot help but wonder how you will play tate mode on a DS...

Believe it or not, there are quite a few games that you play with the DS on it's side.

    Sold!

Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll release another collection set.

Yeah I have Brain Age and Hotel Dusk, but using the buttons and the D-pad are not necessary in those cases.

IGN has a great review of the game with a lot of game play videos, unfortunately they do not show the dip switches, manuals, etc...

Also found out that you can play the games 2 player over local wireless with single cart, and you can let friends download individual games to try out. You can also record videos of your runs. Nice work, but I hope it does well enough to prove that these extra features are where it is at.

Sounds great, although... no Gyruss or Frogger? The hell? And I was wondering if they time they actually included the original Frogger theme (it wasn't the case with the GBA version).

They've got to save some heavy hitter titles for the inevitable Vol. 2.

I was not able to find this today (I only stopped by wal-mart), but I was wondering if anyone else has it yet, if so how is it?

If I am able to snag a copy this weekend I will be sure to give a heads up of what I think.

I have this pre-ordered. I absolutely can't wait to get it. The news of TATE mode on some games makes me even more excited. I love the DS and I love old-school classics!

I didn't think Arcade Advanced's versions of those games were too bad...although I spent most of my time being right pissed at Scramble's "full screen" mode.

If you want Gyruss, the Konami Live Online Game Controller has it.

Frogger? Is that even a draw anymore? It's not like ports of that game are hard to find...

Besides, isn't the original unlockable on one of the DS versions?

I was checking this game out earlier at BestBuy and seen what appeared to be a renamed version of Tutankham on the back?

Also I already have the GBA version of Konami Classics. Do you think that the other games, etc would justify buying the DS versions and keeping both?

Yup, under a different name. I didn't recognize the name, but I did recognize the game

Does Horror Maze seem funky on DS? I don't remember it being so quick(the hero you control and the enemies). The way I remember the arcade game was that your hero was too slow and the enemies were fast. I'm not complaining, I think the DS way(if I'm correct)could make the game easier. The arcade was tough.

Gradius, Contra (which has the original BGM and sound effects, unlike the Xbox Live version), Rush N' Attack, and Ye Air Kung Fu? It's brilliant! PooYan was a surprise to see finally.
These cartridges are dirty as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!

A compilation for the DS? I'd be a damned fool to pass that up!
Gimmie a game, I'll either love it, or pimp-smack it.
