Don't know if it has been posted yet, but there's going to be a game with Mario and Sonic in it for the Olympic Games in Bejing next year. I've only found a German article on it so far though. Bit early for an april fool anyway

People have been waiting for 16 years for Mario and Sonic to be in the same video game, and I cannot think of a more anti-climactic announcement than for their first collaboration to be an Olympic game.

If this is true, it is the very definition of "dropping the ball."

Enough of that. Actually, I'm not sure what to think. Olympics-themed games tend to suck (actually, forget the 'tend' part -- they just plain suck), but if Nintendo is doing the development, the game might actually be fun. Of course, the 100m dash will be no contest -- Sonic FTW!!

...I really feel odd typing that sentence. Hell, this whole thing screams either "april fools" or "fake-out before real announcement". Certainly makes the Sonic in SSBB speculation a little more plausible.

I think it could be interesting. There's a lot of events they could use. Obviously, Sonic should win all the foot races, but at least Mario would dominate in the hammer toss...

Development sources tell IGN Wii that, although SEGA Japan will be officially credited as the creator of Mario & Sonic at the Olympics, another studio is actively working on the project. The company is Tose, which has contributed to more than 1,000 games since its inception in 1979, but has rarely been sourced.

So, uh. Yeah. I guess someone needs a scapegoat?

I have to wonder if all the rampant speculation about what they've worked on is simply their way of breaking into the American industry's mindset. At the least, they're being talked about regularly. At even less...

Of course, it wouldn't be surprising in the least if it were true.
