i was wonderingg, i know its been out a while but how does ridge racer 6 compare to ridge racer 5 for PS2?

oh and are there still people who play it on live?

i am planning on getting a 360 core (never thought i would but it hasnt died yet) and i really like the ridge racer series

RR6 is one of the most underrated games on the 360. IMO, it's the best racer on the 360. Comparing it to other Ridge Racers, it's closer to the PSP Ridge Racer than RR5 (PS2). If you have any familiarity with the PSP version, RR6 is basically a (much) prettier version with additional tracks. They use the same announcer who has to use the word, "nitrous" in every sentence.

As far as racing online, I've had the best luck finding people to race in player matches as opposed to ranked. Weekends (obviously) are the best time to find a match within a minute or so.

Ridge Racer 6 is excellent on the 360, and I also agree that it is very underrated. It's also a steal at the $20 pricetag nowadays (Walmart.com). I had it for the 360, as well as RR7 for the PS3. Somebody told me that RR7 on the PS3 was the same game as RR6 on the 360, but that just isn't true. RR7 is better imho. BUT, RR6 is also a must have in my book. I am a huge fan of the series.

so in terms of how the cars handle and that arcade like powersliding and other physics, is it still pretty much the same?

The handling of your car in RR6 is very similar to RR5. You'll be surprised how your hands will remember the technique. Overall, the power-sliding seems easier in RR6 and works best (IMO) with the 360's d-pad.

RR6 also contains nitrous boosting (which first made an appearance in the PSP version). While not necessary in the beginning, nitrous is essential in the later races to win. Toward the end, the only workable strategy is to keep up with the 1st place car and boost past it in the last few seconds of the race. RR6 requires you to achieve 1st place in each race in order to progress.
