Saw this on joystiq.com this morning and, wow, does it bring back the memories:

I wonder how many people died in that one. lol. That commercial was also 1.5min long which also surprised me. Guess I don't remember commercials being that long.

That commercial was awsome. "He stops exciting things from happening!" Now I wish I could get my hands on more of the Pole Position cartoons, I only have six.

I know, isn't that funny? That commercial is just the greatest. And, like a commenter said on that site, I think "Hey, you look like a real jerk!" is my favorite new greeting.

After a single viewing I can tell you that is the second greatest commercial ever made (the Megamania commercial is first). It taps into everyone's primal fear; having a gigantic hand from the sky pluck you from the earth and force you to play Pole Position.

I've always loved that commercial but somehow I don't remember Laguna Seca being used in the game. Or excuse me, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
