    Question Wii component video cables

What is it with Nintendo and component video cables? I'm probably going to get a Wii soon, but I haven't seen any cables for sale in stores, except for some $50 third party ones. The only place I know of where the Nintendo ones are sold is Nintendo's website, just like the Gamecube cables.

Are the Wii cables going to end up only being available on eBay for >$50 in a year or so? Just what is the deal here?

1st party cables are widely available at EB's and GameStop's around here for a 200 mile radius for 29.95, probably were in stock at 95% of them doing a check just now.

I'd buy online from them or check out a EB or GameStop.

Well, I must be lucky, because I seriously haven't seen any. The stores do have 360 and PS3 cables all over the place, however. Must be a regional thing.

Did you use the product locator at that site and type in your zip code? Its very likely they're placed in a spot in the EB's and GS's you've been in that you haven't noticed them, and they really have them in stock. I can't imagine upstate NY is handled any differently than the rest of the country as far as that chain is concerned.

Wow. I'm seeing Wii component cables all over the place.

Third party and Nintendo's.... None higher than $29.

Go to the electric quarter website I picked up mine there. They deliver fast and the You save a bundle and the cables are nice quality.

By the way, just so you know, the 1st party ones made by Nintendo aren't of any kind of special quality or anything that makes them worth $29.99. I have a set of those that I ordered from Nintendo's website back during launch, and I also have a cheapo $19.99 3rd party set, and they are virtually identical. Definitely save yourself some cash and pick up a 3rd party set. I swore I saw one somewhere for $14.99.

I have the official cables for one of the Wiis, and the cheapo $19 ones for the other - I can't tell any difference at all. Agreed, save yourself some cash and go with the cheap ones.
