    Question PS2 and Progressive Scan

I have a fairly early PS2 (SCPH-39001), and I've noticed there seems to be no way to turn on progressive scan in the main menu. Can it do 480p, or do I need a newer model?

Any model PS2 can do 480p for games that support it. Check the instruction manual for the game. Normally, you have to hold a couple of buttons on the controller when the game boots.

I'm pretty sure only 50001 and higher models can play DVD movies in 480p.

You may also want to track down Xploder HDTV. This disc will allow you to play most of your PS2 games in Progressive Scan. However, this won't work on some games but it makes the games it does work on look very good.
