    Default Mario's Lost Bytes

    From CoinHeaven.com:

My online stumbling has led me to Unseen 64, a truly righteous site that compiles images from beta versions of famous video games. Sure, half the text is in Italian, but that shouldn't stop you from taking a look. After all, doesn't Mario speak Italian? Screenshots from not-ready-for-prime-time versions of various Mario games are always a trip, as any true gamer can't help marvel at what could have been.

Very interesting. It's always fun to see how things progressed and changed.

I wonder if a proto exist for any of these. I'd really like to play that Super Mario World. That's awesome.

My Collection - Well, kinda. One of these days I will actually get a pic of the whole collection and post it on there. Until then, I only have a few games in there with some additional collection info stuff.

Wow, interesting site. I'd never heard of Donkey Kong '94 before. It looks very promising... too bad it didn't go far in production.

I recognize some of those SM64 screenshots. They were published in several magazines of the time.

But that N64DD title? The one that uses the camera? NO FUCKING WAY was that for the N64. All the graphics are way too clean, they look to be of Gamecube quality...

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that ones for the cube. I remember seeing screenshots with Pikmin in them for that game in Nintendo Power. (Pikmin's first appearence was on the GC)

Something similar that never made it into production was the ability in Perfect Dark to use the GB Camera to put your face in the game, enabling you to play as yourself in multiplayer. I remember seeing screenshots in Nintendo Power in which someone took a pic of their pet lizard and put it in the game lol. For some reason, and I forget exactly why, the feature was removed.

Nice link. Those Super Mario World shots look especially interesting. Wish I could check that out.
