Aw yeah, that Beeshu pad is the stuff! Dumb name, cool colors, I'm there! It actually plays great, and seems like a knock-off of a Hudson Joycard Sansui SSS, but without the headphone output. I love accessories like this.
Destination Earthstar. I don't know why but I have such a hard on for that game. I think it's because it's the last game my dad got for me before he took off years ago, or the fact that I could never fucking get past the first level's side-scrolling area. I think I did...*once*...maybe. Anyway, still looking for a cib copy. I'll get there.

    $15:

N64 system with liquid purple controller
    Mario Party (loose)
    Goldeneye (loose)
    Jerry McGrath Supercross 2000 (loose)
    NHL Breakaway 98 (loose)

first time i've ever bought a second system. i really wanted the games cause i'm back to working on my 64 library but the lady wouldn't sell them separate from the system, so i caved in. i'll probably drop the system off at a goodwill at some point.
And don't bring up that stupid girlie Aladdin rip off! Shantea?

I've complained about the price changes at my local Half-Price Books in that other thread, but I felt good as I caught one that slipped through the ebay/Amazon checker's grasp today :

Diablo (PS1) Complete, but with a ripped cover - $3.98

    Also picked up:

    Vigilante 8 (PS1) Completel - $2.00
    Vigilante 8 Second Offense (PS1) Complete - $2.00

    Today's finds:

Konami Justifier lightgun (PS1) in pretty good shape - $5
Spencer The Gardener - Run Away With LuLu (brand new CD) - $1!
Two disc-only copies of X-Com UFO Defense (one original release, one later ESRB rated with PDF manual) - $1

I probably overpaid for that Justifier (it's the green gun) but it was worth it to put a theory of mine to the test: My PS2 does -not- like third party GunCon 1 / Justifier clone guns. All my Justifier-compatible games will not recognize clone guns for some reason, but they worked fine with my Justifier. The GunCon 1 games did, though.

Also, that Spencer The Gardener album was an INCREDIBLY AWESOME FIND. I picked up The First Two Albums like three years ago but left behind a copy of Run Away With LuLu. I loved the music on First Two and went back for LuLu, but it was gone. I never expected to find a copy of it ever again... and I did. Brand new. For a buck. Whee.

I was awoken at 7:30 AM this morning by the sound of the electrical transformer that serves this side of the street exploding. Since I couldn't go back to sleep because of the agonizing sore throat I have due to cottonwood allergies, I went thrifting. At the first store I bought nine SNES games. I'm just beginning to get my feet wet when it comes to the SNES, so I decided to pick up any non-sports games that looked remotely interesting. I bought Robocop 3, F-Zero, Wario's Woods, Outlander, Nobunaga's Ambition, Super Ninja Boy, King Arthur's World, Kirby's Avalanche, and Cybernator (all loose and marked all over) for $1.91 each. Nothing interesting at the next four thrifts, but at the Salvation Army I bought a boxed and complete Silent Scope sniper rifle for the Xbox for $19.99.

The marker will come off if you use the right stuff, so those look completely salvagable to me. I played the crap out of Nobunaga's Ambition as a kid (yeah, I'm weird).

I picked up Dissidia at Target for a paltry $20.98. A bit less would have been nice, but I've been dying to get a copy for a while. All things considered, I'd say I got a good deal.
    In Heaven, everything is fine.

    Today's finds:

Ella Fitzgerald: The Complete Ella in Berlin: Mack the Knife - $1
VA - The Blackest Album (An Industrial Tribute To Metallica) - $1
    Stanley Clarke - Hideaway ($1)
Skinny Puppy Soundisc (two CDs with officially licensed samples from his songs) - .50
Blade Runner + The X-Files Strategy Guides - $3 for both

This is the second copy of that Blackest Album tribute I've bought and they've BOTH been bad. The first one couldn't be copied at the beginning... and this one can't be copied at the end. I still ripped it, but it took ages for the drive to finish. I'll see if I can get it resurfaced later. I hate Metallica and I don't really like the kind of music this label used to put out very much... but I'll give it a shot for the hell of it.

(Listening: Industrial my ass, this is the same kind of crap that was in the Trancemode Express albums!)

The strategy guides, well... I typically don't buy any strategy guides. But these were special. There was a booth with a ton of strategy guides for different games, including off the top of my head: Master of Magic, Tropico, Star Trek Birth Of The Federation, Age of Empires 1, two different Flight Simulator ones (those things were as thick as friggin' phone books!)... I noticed these two and picked them up. I actually own both games!

I picked up the Blade Runner guide to clear up the whole "This game has twelve endings" thing - which it technically has, the game actually has about six endings, but one has variants depending on how you beat the game... which makes up five of the twelve endings. Tricky bastards.

I picked up the X-Files guide for the cool trivia it has. And the CD, which was still in the back cover, unused.

My PS3 showed up yesterday so I have started looking for blurays and games. Found RE5 (non-GH) for 7.48 at Target and Soul Calibur IV for 19.99 at Kmart. Should be a good way to get started.

Cool pick up on that Skinny Puppy sample CD. Kinda interesting. By the way, SP is a "they".

As for The Blackest Album, that pretty much is industrial. The old industrial -- artists like Throbbing Gristle, Cabaret Voltaire, Einsturzende Neubauten, and to a lesser extent, Skinny Puppy -- that stuff's been dead and buried for a while (despite the new releases from SP, since it's not the same thing anymore). Industrial has been, for the better part of 10 years, 4/4 electronic music with (primarily) male vocals. I like both styles, but they're certainly not the same thing. They just fall under the same umbrella genre title.

    Found a few decent items.

    From a thrift:
Genesis controllers $.49 each (awesome condition)
    Dreamcast controller with VMU $.99
    Pele (Gensis) $.99
    Model 2 Sega AC $.99

    From Goodwill Computer Works:
Shadow of the Beast 2 (Sega CD) CIB - $10
Sega CD Backup RAM cart $15

While I just got rid of a bunch of extra controllers it was hard to beat the price of the ones at the thrift. I bought the DC one mainly for an extra VMU. I had no idea what Pele was at the time, and since it was cheap I bought it. Oh well.

Lately at Goodwill Computer Works, prices have been rising. Last year it was a pretty decent place to find deals on lesser known rare items. Everything was reasonably priced. At some point someone who works there must have started visiting some online rarity guides. It would suddenly explain the rise in price of obscure and oddball titles that the average person wouldn't be looking for. Once they began to put rare titles behind the glass and jacked up prices, it caught my attention. Titles I hadn't normally been aware of, now caught my eye. When I realized that these prices were actually higher than eBay, I became weary of the store. I was duped into thinking something was worth a bit more than it was, because their prices had been really fair before.

Anyway I'll often bring my laptop along with me, and check eBay in the parking lot before buying some of the stuff. Which is why I bought both of the Sega CD items. I checked on Shadow of the Beast. It doesn't come up in the Sega CD version much at all on eBay so I bought it at $9.99. Also $15 is usually more than I'd pay for most used games, but seeing as the RAM carts aren't an easy pull either I decided to bite.

Anyway sorry about the long story. But Goodwill Computer Works has been bugging me lately.
