So, I felt like playing some Madden 08 for the first time in over a month. Put the 'Cube disc in my Wii, and start it up. Getting the title menu, it says some of my data is corrupted. Bah.. I very very reluctantly delete the data (Rebooted and tried a couple more times, same results).
So since I don't want to have to deal with all the roster crap I did when I first got the game, I decide to play some Resident Evil. On RE2, I'm getting some ???? files, and it says the data is corrupted as well. What the hell?! Same with RE4, Rebirth, Monkey Ball, Wrestlemania X8, XIX, Smash, etc. The only games I tested that loaded my data up correctly were P.N. 03 and Rogue Squadron II.
I decide to try Rebirth again, and it says the whole card is corrupted. I check the card in the Wii's menu, and it says the same there. I even got out my GameCube and plugged it all in to see if it were any different there. Same result. The entire card was corrupted. I'm very very hesitant, but I finally decide the only way to fix this problem is to format the entire card. All the work I put into Smash, Monkey Ball, RE2, RE4, and P.N. 03 gone. Five years gone.
Today, I'm thinking "Well, might as well start all over on P.N. 03." Just to make sure everything's going okay I put Smash in, and it gives me a prompt to create data on the card. So far so good. I go to the character select screen, and it says my card is corrupted again! I boot up one of my wrestling games, and get the same result.
What the hell happened to my memory card? Is it completely entirely fried, and I need to buy a new one?
This is an official Nintendo 1019 card. I love it how it's a Nintendo product of all things that does this to me first. I have a ten year old PSX card that's still going fine, with all it's original data from 1997 - 1998 still on it.
Oh and, my Wii has been making some weird grinding noises when playing GameCube games.
