Default I reached my 100th Genesis game!

Ah, Finally I have a collection of one particular system that has actually gone somewhere.

I got Phantasy star II to make my 100th non-repeat genesis game

What was your 100th non-repeat game for any system?

The only system for which I have in excess of 100 unique games is the Atari 2600 (296), but I can't remember exactly which title pushed me over the century mark.

Anyway, congrats on the achievement. Between 16-bit, 32X and CD's, my Genesis library is the 2nd largest in my collection - approx 80 titles. This is a little surprising to me since I'm predominantly a pre-NES gamer and I wasn't a fan of Genny at all in its day, but I've come to appreciate it much more since then. It's a great system.

Yeah, congratulations. How many of those games are "good" in your opinion? Some people only buy the games they enjoy and if you've accomplished that then you're on a good track. Also, are they primarily CIB or boxed games?

I'm at 90 boxed Genesis games, of which close to 80 have all the pack-ins. Loose carts, somewhere around another 70 of those which I'd like to complete some day and sell off a few I don't care much for.

i never really kept close enough track to see when my nes collection went to over 100 unique carts but id like to think it was that mint copy of final fantasy that did it hehe.

well what really helped me was the fact I got 30ish of those games free.. so I have a lot of sports titles. Otherwise the rest I bought because I loved them when I played my sister's Genesis or I'm back tracking a series.

Congrats! And that's not a shabby game to celebrate the milestone with, either!

Freaking insane, bought my 100th SNES game in like... 6 weeks? Can't remember off the top of my head, but for a period of time there, I was seriously buying like 4 games a day off teh 'bay.

And certainly not a bad game to honor the milestone with

The only system that I went over 100 games with was the Genesis. At its largest, my Genesis collection had 189 unique titles with about 85 of them being complete. Unfortunately, I have liquidated most of them and now have about 40 or so left with about 20 complete. My biggest collection now is PS2 with about 80 with the Saturn being not far behind at 50 - 60, with a mix of US and Japanese games.

Congrats!!!, I remember getting my 100th N64 game during this summer(the only system I have over 100 games for so far).

The game was ShadowMan, and it was worthy of the 100 mark. It's a good feeling indeedm hitting the 100 mark for your favorite console. I can't wait to hit 200.

So I take it you like sports titles to that degree or has it been brutal? I've always thought about what it'd be like to keep a record of every game transation to build a general trend of a collection. Generally I see people stocking up on sport titles then slowly accruing particular genres, series or publishing company games.

nono, I got those for free. I hate sports titles. A company was getting rid of them so I took 'em.

Well, I don't remember what my 100th game was for the Genesis/Megadrive or any other console for that matter. I did buy my 1000th game for the PlayStation a few days ago, the longbox version of NBA ShootOut. I'm just slowly finishing off a PlayStation longbox collection and if it hadn't just happened, I doubt acquiring NBA ShootOut will ever be a memorable event in my life.
As far as people loading up on cheap sports games to start off their collections. I don't know, I think most people know exactly what kind of games they want to play and start with those. They might finish off a collection by adding a bunch of sports games, because they know it's not likely they'll be hard to find or expensive. The only two Genesis sports games I remember buying are the Mutant League Football and Hockey games. Exaggerated arcady sports games are all right in my book!
I bought a Sega Genesis because I became interested in collecting console shooter games. Back then I didn't even know they were called shmups, I just thought they were so unusual and unique that there wouldn't be that many to collect. Having only owned Nintendo consoles previously, you could understand why I might think that way. So the first 50 Genesis games I bought were Japanese megadrive imports. While Googling to get a list of shooters available on the Genesis, I stumbled upon Digital Press. Here I found a discussion of the top 50 Genesis games. They seemed to know what they were talking about, so I thought - why not? 304 Genesis games later, I realize that the ease at finding complete Genesis games becomes an almost irresistible temptation. I guess it's not much different from buying PlayStation games in that respect. I'd still like to have at least one Brazilian megadrive game, maybe Duke Nukem 3d. I'd still like to have at least one Korean megadrive game, maybe Space Turtle Battleship? And I know I won't quit until I have a copy of Micheal Jackson's Moonwalker.
My most memorable Genesis experience was when I told my wife I was going to work on a National Holiday for the triple time pay to buy a Genesis game. She thought I was absolutely utterly INSANE! But that day just flew by and I rushed right home, jumped on Ebay and paid $180 for the Japanese version of Alien Soldier. A year or two later Sega and Sony would put Alien Soldier on the PS2 for around $25. I bought that one as well, but made damn sure not to mention it to my wife!
Congrats on reaching 100 games! If you fancy fantasy pinball games, be sure to pick up Dino Land. I've played a lot of them and it's one of my favorites.

I wasn't paying attention when I hit 100 NES games, but I did just hit 400 with one of the 4 games I picked up yesterday. I'll say it was Rainbow Islands that put me over.

The only other system I'm close to 100 with is SNES at about 90. Maybe I'll pick up something special like Earthbound or Chrono Trigger to celebrate that centennial mark.

    I don't have 100 games for any system. :P

But seeing as how there's over 100 PS2 RPGs I'd imagine that system will be my first. The system that comes the closest at the moment is PSOne at 81, but I've run out of games to buy for it.

I keep saying I'll keep track of games that put me over 100 sometime but I doubt I'll ever pay that much attention, Snes and N64 are the only systems I'm close to 100 for (78 - Snes games and 86 - N64 games). I've long passed that realm for Genesis (462 total, probably 430 US games), Nes (221), and atari 2600 (approximately 150) so I have no way of checking backwards through time on those. All others I'm less than 75 games into. What I do know for sure is I'll always remember whatever game it ends up being that becomes my final genesis game to complete my collection (since I'm not going for the comp cart, game factory carts or outback joey currently, odds are it'll end up being Miracle Piano).

Actually I have been collecting Genesis years before I got those sports games.. I just happen to fall into a huge lot of games from a store getting rid of them.. most of them being sports... Well I still got things like Lion King and McDonalds Treasure Land Adventure in there too.

And Micheal Jackson's Moonwalker? I got that one. Not an easy one to find. But it's fun to freak people out with it xD

Congrats man, I'm almost there with Genesis games. I think I'm at about 75 with only 2 sports games. Unfortunately, I can't find boxed genesis games lately.

i have either close to or just over 200 ps1 games. not sure which one put it over the 100. i have over 100 ps1 rpgs.

*i dont have any sports games as i simply dont like them, i do have like 4 snowboarding games, a tony hawk game, and home run king for the gamecube, but i like all of them*

numbers estimated. havent counted in a bit:

    Gameboy/Color ~60
    Xbox ~60
    GBA ~50
    gamecube ~25
    ps2 ~25
    genesis ~20
    ds ~10
    psp ~10
    snes ~10
    nes ~10
    sega cd ~10
    360 <10
    dreamcast <5
    wii 3

the vast majority of my collection are RPGs. i collect only games i like (however i do buy every rpg for gba & ps1, and pick up pretty much every gameboy/color game i find as long as its under 5 bucks)

all of my games are complete in all paperwork and in their boxes (except Gameboy/Color, cause its so hard and i dont really care)

The NES is the only system I've recorded passing 100 on. In the last 6 months I've become bad at recording my purchases. Probably 200+ games in the collection that haven't been logged. I'm gonna have to do a whole inventory to figure out what's there now. Back to the topic, I believe my 100th NES game was Dragon Warrior 4. Also, my 1000th game overall was Nightmare on Elm Street (NES). I'll probably pass 100 on my PS2 and SNES anytime now.
