Default Grey Metroid Cart vs Yellow Cart?

Whats the different between the Grey Label and the Yellow label on the Metroid NES carts?

One is a rerelease... Think "greatest hits" version.

The gray label one has a gray label. The yellow label one has a yellow label.

Gray label is the original release, the yellow is the re-release (Player's Choice).

I always wondered - which one is supposed to be more common?

I'm a collector, but only to a certain extent.
Not as extreme as Rickstilwell though.[/quote]

1st, I made a mistake. Player's Choice was/is used on SNES/N64/GC/Wii games. For the NES, Nintendo used "Classic Series" for re-releases.

2nd, as I understand, most of the Classic Series re-releases are rarer than their original counterparts. Prices seem to favor the originals though, especially with Zelda/Zelda II, which I imagine is because of the lack of gold paint on the re-release :/

In my personal experience, the Yellow one is much less common. In 5 years of buying lots and selling extras I don't need, I've only had 2 Yellows in my hands and probably a couple dozen grays. Not that that is scientific or anything...

The Wii rerelease program is titled "Nintendo Selects".
