Default Could Root Beer Tapper Have Been Sponsored by A&W?

As good as Root Beer Tapper was, being a more kid/teenager-friendly version of the original Budweiser-licensed Tapper (which itself benefited from having its cabinet go so far as to resemble an actual bar, down to the brass footrests, ashtray and drink holders, and beer taps as game controls), I would still hint at the Root Beer version as far as getting a similar endorsement, perhaps from that of A&W, being a famous brand of root beer since 1919.

If such a license ever went through, I could also hint at A&W root beer sales going up as a result of the promotion. I know that A&W's then-mascot, the Great Root Bear, also appealed to kids and teens.

An alternate version of Tapper was released in which the drink was that of Mountain Dew. This mostly applied to all home ports of the game excepting the ColecoVision version, which went for the root-beer version.

So, folks, do you think that Root Beer Tapper could've benefited from an A&W promotion? If so, this game could've been found at some A&W All-American drive-ins, and all stores that sell A&W root beer. I'd even think of certain high-score contests where the player with the most points gets a free A&W root beer float.

I think yes, with a but. I was under the impression that Root Beer Tapper was more an attempt to make the game suitable for places beyond bars and other "adult" spots.

Did Budweiser run any promos relating to Tapper? My concern would be that one or the other would complain about their brands being confused in some way. Since the home versions used Mountain Dew, it's also worth considering that no root beer brands were interested at the time. As a soda and video game nut, I can't imagine a collection better than A&W Tapper, Pepsi Invaders, Mello Yello Q*Bert, and probably a few more I can't think of right now.

    Stewarts > A&W

But, I see no reason why Midway couldn't have gotten a Root Beer brand attached to the game if they wanted to.

Stewarts the convenience store? I always wrote off their soft drinks as being about on par with typical generic sodas. I love their ice cream though.

I know nothing of the convenience stores you speak of,

this is what I'm talking about:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stewart...ntain_Classics

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stewart's_Restaurants

While their logos seem to share a font, there does not appear to be any connection to the conveneince stores.

Never noticed their soda anywhere and have never seen a Stewart's Restaurant. Wouldn't mind checking one out if I ever find one (Doesn't look like they have much geographical coverage outside of New Jersey).

Anyways, that makes more sense than praising a generic convenience store brand of softdrink. Thanks for explaining.

That's funny, I never knew it was regional, but when it comes to soda that isn't Coke or Pepsi, I do suppose that there are a lot of differences state-to-state.

Yeah man, Stewart's Root Beer, Birch Beer, Cream Soda, Orange Cream Soda and many of their other flavor varieties are really good.

If you're traveling and see one of them in the bottled drink section, give em a try.

Of course, nearly all soda using real invert cane sugar instead of HCF syrup is going to be/taste better. Although personally:
    Code:
    Sioux City Sarsaparilla > Stewarts
    Whaddya mean invalid parameters?!
