Default Impulse buy help: Darkwing Duck GameBoy

I just bought a sealed copy of Darkwing Duck for GameBoy at a, what I think, is a decent price ($25). I snatched it quickly before anybody else could, mostly based on the fact that despite me being a somewhat recent GameBoy collector I don't ever remember seeing a mint copy of it in the past.

So, GameBoy collectors, is it a good buy? How rare is it? Will I be able to at least double my money if after playing it on an emulator I decide I don't like it and want to sell it still factory sealed? Thanks for the help!

Collecting is for fun! If you think you are going to profit on every purchase, flipping shortly after purchase, you are going to have little or no fun in this hobby!~
Condoleezza Rice is nice, but I prefer A Roni!

I only buy games I really like, and I know Darkwing Duck NES is good, so I thought I better snatch this one quick because it was relatively cheap and I'm hoping it's as good as the NES one. Thing is, if I don't like it then I wasted my money.
On the other hand, if I decide to keep it, I'm gonna open it and play it even if it loses its value.

With the exception of the "profit on every purchase" part...this IS how some people do fund their hobby, and can be fun in and of itself. But to each their own. Having said that though, I mostly gave up this way when I got a job.

True.... Now that I think about it, my entire GameBoy mint collection has been purchased by buying GameBoy lots off of Ebay from people that don't know the value of what they are selling and reselling them individually for a lot more. This is what I have so far, everything complete in box:

-Original GameBoy (with original receipt from Toys R Us 1990)
-Castlevania 2: Belmont's Revenge (with original receipt from Toys R Us 1991)
    -Metroid 2
    -Gargoyle's Quest
    -Final Fantasy Legend (Sunsoft)
    -Final Fantasy Legend 2 (Square)
    -Final Fantasy Legend 3 (Square)
    -Final Fantasy Adventure (Square)
    -X
    -Dragon Warrior 1 & 2
    -Dragon Warrior 3
    -Super Mario Bros. Deluxe
    -Metal Gear Solid
    -Zelda DX
    -Tetris

    Spent $320 on it.

It's hard to say but that game is getting hard to find. Watch this auction and see what it goes for. $25 seems like a pretty good deal.

A case or two was found last year. You paid $25, which is about right. Anything over $30 is crazy talk.

Nice tip! Thanks. I only found another one in the U.K., complete but not sealed, going for $27. I also played the game today on an emulator and don't like it. Ugh. Looks like I'll be lucky if I can get my money's worth back.

Put it up on Amazon for $100. You'll have no competition besides one for $199.

So if some idiot overprices something on Amazon you shouldn't post your item cheaper at a price it would actually sell at, as it wouldn't be polite? I see plenty of people on craigslist asking $30+ for common NES games, I can't price my own copies at $5 because it would be a dick move unless they manage to sell their overpriced copies first? If that were the case I'd be stuck with all my games forever.

Are you kidding me? This is about competition. If sellers didn't try to compete on price as well it'd be really hard for buyers to ever find deals they like.

How do you not like the game if you like the NES version? It is the exact same game as the NES version only with a tad more slowdown in parts. Otherwise: EXACT same game.

On anywhere but amazon feel free to undercut, but on amazon it just causes penny wars. I've seen one person putting there item at a few cents under bring down the price of the item $20 in a day, because people just keep undercutting each other.

I <3 undercutting dicks. That love takes two forms, when I'm buying and when I'm selling.

Welcome to Capitalism. Get over it and get the thread back on topic. This is about Darkwing Duck, not about amazon sales undercutting.
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.

There's an easy way to prevent it from happening. Offer to buy the game yourself for $100, then list it yourself on Amazon for $199. Simple.

It probably would work for anything that you'd want to sell on Amazon, if anybody is selling one cheaper than yours, buy it and list it yourself to keep them from being listed for a cheaper price.
