Default Best gamecube mario party game?

I just realized I never played a mario party game after the first and am looking to rectify that.

After some research it seems like it mostly comes down to 4 and 5 so I'm leaning mostly towards those 2 however if you feel different please let me know

Mary Kate and Ashley's Sweet 16. How else are you gonna find out who's queen of the party?

Easy answer, Elizabeth. The other are like the Danny Devito half of that old Twins movie.

Mary Kate and Ashley's Sweet 16 is a Mario Party clone with heavy tween girl themes and scoring based on money like coins in Mario Party, but you get bonus points for having friends or boys in your car. It's actually pretty playable, costs nothing, and is hilarious with the right group of people. The winner is pronounced queen of the party.

As far as actual Mario Party games go, it's a coin toss for mini-game preference. Seriously, though, I legitimately had a great time getting stupid with some friends and calling each other bitches while our wives tried to pretend they didn't know us playing Mary Kate and Ashley.

For me it's a tie between 5 and 7, which I felt had the best mini-game assortments, party mode board speed and miscellaneous extras. Mario Party 4 is a bit more primitive and rather slow moving. I thought the mini-games in 6 were rather weak.

Having played 4, 5, and 6 a long time ago with mates (and yes, alcohol was heavily involved, as were joking comments about "golden showers" due to the way the characters are showered in gold coins!), then it's a toss-up between 4 or 6, we didn't really like 5.

Odd, I remember Mario Party 5 being quite poorly received back in the day. I remember Xplay and Game Informer both trashing it months after release. I have to tip my hat to 6 though, admittedly never having played 7.

    Red face

I really loved 4. My kids (born in the 90's) love 4 the best too and we usually all play it together. We have all of them and '10' is on pre-order. :-)
George Plimpton was right! But who the hell is George Plimpton???
