I decided to use the gift card I won from the guitar hero tournament on some playstation games that I would rather not buy with real money so I got the following for my PSONE collection. They are all complete and in great condition:

Disney's Story Studio: Mulan
Disney's: Atlantis The Lost Empire
Disney's: Lilo and Stitch
Disney's: The Emperor's New Groove
Disney's: Hercules
Mary-Kate and Ashleys Magical Mystery Mall
Barbie Race & Ride
Detective Barbie: The Mystery Cruise

Today I picked up an old Mattel Electronics handheld called Mind Boggler, with it's carrying case, instruction manual, and little pads for code guessing, for $2.99. Also got a Famiclone with a built-in light gun in the tip (and a broken gun trigger) for $4.99. I also picked up a Capcom Soldier GS fighting gamepad for $2.99, and two Dreamcast controllers - one official, one by Naki, both with first-party memory cards and one with a rumble pack, $3.50 each.

I also went to Fry's and bought Maximo vs. Army of Zin for $2.99.

This is one of those days that I wish I had a digital camera. This is a long post but I figured some of you may enjoy how my day went.

Last weekend, I responded to an ad on the local craigslist from a guy selling some video game stuff. There was a Game Gear and some NES games that I wanted. We agreed to meet up in Beaverton at 6.

I got off work early and decided to check out the CD/Game Exchange on Hawthorne since I had some extra time. I was hoping I'd find some Game Gear games I'd be interested in, but I only got one thing:

NES:
Rambo (cart only) - $2.50

When I went up to pay, the guy offered me a sugar packet from a pile they had near the register (wtf?). I turn it down. He asks if I want a bag and I say yes. When I went outside, I realized that he didn't give me a bag for the game, as I was holding it... along with a packet of sugar. Oh well, didn't really need a bag anyways since I always have my messenger bag with me.

After that, I headed on the bus downtown to take the MAX to Beaverton. When I got there, I was glad to see that the Game Gear was in pretty good shape and wasn't a Majesco unit. It came with a carrying case and AC adapter. That was $8.
I had one as a kid and I've always been interested in getting another one, and I figured $8 was a fair price.

Here's the NES games I bought from the seller, $18 for all.

Gotcha!
Kid Niki
Magmax
Mystery Quest
Shadow of the Ninja
World Games
Wrecking Crew

Every game came with a cart sleeve, and Shadow of the Ninja was the only game that didn't have its manual.

I had remembered that there was a GameCrazy in Beaverton that had some Game Gear games that last time I was there - the only thing was that I hadn't been to that store since January. I decided to take the bus down there and see if they still had anything. That was my last stop before heading home, and fortunately, they did. So here's the start of my Game Gear collection:

Sonic 2 (cart only) - 99 cents
Ecco: The Tides of Time (cart only) - 99 cents
NBA Jam (cart only) - 49 cents

I also took advantage of the 2 for $5 sale and got these:

Genesis:
McDonald's Treasure Land Adventure (cart only, R6)
Vectorman 2 (cart only)

SNES:
Hurricanes (cart only, R7)

PlayStation:
The Italian Job (complete)

An R7 and an R6, and it was nice to cross Vectorman 2 off the want list too. :)

There was a guy talking with the employee there. Probably the most interesting part of the conversation was when the guy tells the employee about how he recently got Tecmo Bowl for the NES at Goodwill for four bucks. "I'm keeping that, it's a twenty dollar game." He has a point - I have seen a couple cart only copies priced nearly that high in the past - the first for $15 and the second for $18 - but it usually goes for $2-5 around here. I wound up telling him about the gold Zelda II cart I got at a Goodwill last week for $2.99. "That's the thing about Goodwill," he replies. They don't know what their stuff's worth."

Another Tuesday off means a trip to the local flea market. (that and I had been sick for the past two weeks) I didn't find much at all but one of my favorite sellers was there, he always gives me good deals on games. I've snagged an import copy of Lunar Lander for the GameBoy from him in the past and a few nice GB and GBC games for $5 a pop as well. I keep telling him to bring out his NES games because he has a good selection and sells them for $3 each but still always cuts me a deal. To my surprise he had two of his NES boxes out today and as usual, cut me a cheaper rate - $2 per cartridge. I took the opportunity to fill some holes and picked up some nice uncommons.

http://www.classicplastic.net/digitalpress/DP-Finds-2007-06-19(01).jpg

Athena
Crash 'n' The Boys Street Challenge (R5)
Darkman (R4)
Dragon Warrior
The Little Mermaid
The Lone Ranger (R4)
Pinbot
Thunderbirds (R4)
Wall Street Kid
Zanac

All loose, $2 each x 10 = $20 total.

I have next Tuesday off as well so I told him to bring out any other NES games he has in his inventory. Hopefully I'll actually be able to find him next week as his position at the flea market seems to be pretty random. Spent much of the evening playing Wall Street Kid and The Lone Ranger.

Made one of my best scores in the wild quantity wise yesterday. There is this local store that sells used games that a friend told me about and I had been looking for it for quite a while. So im driving around checking out thrift stores when I notice a sign on a plaza that says "Dvd's, CD's, Games" so I go in and sure enough it's the AB CD's store ive been looking for. Saw a stack of SNES games and checked them out but sadly nothing good. Look to the left further down and JACKPOT! A whole shelf of boxed NES games, for which I primarily collect for. Between the first trip there and then going back after getting more money I ended up getting these, all have Box, manual and cartridge (except Addams Family).

Indiana Jones: The Last Crusade (rare Ubi Soft version) $7
The Immortal $7
Pinball $6
The Addams Family $7
The Three Stooges $7
Rambo $7
Bill & Ted's Excellent ^Video Game Adventure $7
Mickey Mousecapade $7
Duck Hunt $6
Hogan's Alley $6
Darkman (Factory sealed w/horiz seam) $7

And also a good friend of mine donated the Zelda boxes to me today, finally my zelda carts are CIB now. :) In all a VERY great day!

Two Intellivisions, 120 games, about forty boxes and some of the paperwork for $100. But only half of the games are unique.

Someone please let me know if it isn't as good a deal as I might think. Vintage games aren't exactly my speciality.

After reading your game list, if you split it down the middle (depending on how many dupes you have), you've got two systems with a healthy collection of games, boxes/manuals and voice modules for $50 a pop. Not too bad if you look at it from that perspective. You could then sell one of the systems with the voice module and the dupe games to recoup some of your investment.

......Almost Free Games...
My Sis in law came here with her hubby yesterday but I was running out going over my Sis house.
They brought me some baby items and I had the place in shambles, with all the CRAP going on..:frustrated:
They gave me a pile of PS games, one I loaned them a long time ago..My eyes popped out in drool(me like free games)
Sis said,We figured we'd give them to you since we don't have a PS to play them..
I said "WHAT"..Handed them their games back, pulled out a PS from my collection, three controllers, took my PS2 AC and AV wires(unhooking them) and gave it to them..(I have other AC AV wires)
I may like games but I'd rather see them happy playing them...

I used to know a guy who had that cart in his 2600 collection. He once made an entry in his MySpace blog with over 200 Chuck Norris jokes (and will tell a few at random), so it's no surprise that he loves showing it off to people.

Yesterday...

PS2, Fatty - $25

Works perfectly...was VERY dirty and still worked with all that nasty dust. This sucker's getting modded so I can play custom guitar hero songs. Thinking about doing a slide card mod instead of chipping it. Ive already loaded HDAdvance on a memory card to play my games off of the HDD and cut out load times.

Went to another CD/Game Exchange this evening, where I had some better luck finding some good Game Gear stuff.

Sonic The Hedgehog (w/case)
Sonic Triple Trouble (cart only)
Sonic Chaos (cart only)

$2.50 each. Sonic Chaos is my favorite find of the day, as it's one of the two GG games I used to own as a kid (the other being Mortal Kombat).

Upload the pics on ImageShack (http://www.imageshack.us) (or a similar photo host) and post them here. It's much better than using the attachments.

Hit a local indie game shop and...

5$ each:

Crystalis NES (collection quality)

Star Tropics NES (again, collection quality, actually all of these ones are so I'll stop mentioning it)

Star Tropics II Zoda's Revenge NES (picked up both to have a nice, relaxed rpg for the summer to play)

Assorted prices from another local store:

$3.99 Quattro Adventure 4-1 NES COMPLETE (I can't let CIB carts go, not for the nes.)

$5.99 Maximum Carnage: Spiderman and Venom SNES (Beat-em-ups, anyone?)

$7.00 Illusions of Gaia SNES (good price for an SNES rpg, usually people try and charge mortgages for these)

$4.99 Ultima: Exodus NES (one of my personal favorites for the NES, glad to have it back in the collection after selling my old copy on ebay)

$2.99 Time Stalkers Dreamcast (does anyone know a thing about this game, is it any good? I bought it on price alone b/c for a COMPLETE game in good condition, you can't beat the price. just hope its a decent rpg)

It's been dry as hell out in Middle TN lately, I was happy with what I got, they'll keep me busy for a week or two.

I was a HUGE fan of the game when I had a DC. It's actually pretty fun. Dungeon crawler/RPG-type in the same vein as Diablo or Shining Soul but WAY more fun (imho). You can capture allies, find items on drops, etc... It's a good pick up for sure.

Nice finds. Been awhile since I got some good RPGs in the wild. Out of those I only own FF7 and Chrono Cross; my PSX RPG selection isn't the best ever. Have fun with those!

I was a HUGE fan of the game when I had a DC. It's actually pretty fun. Dungeon crawler/RPG-type in the same vein as Diablo or Shining Soul but WAY more fun (imho). You can capture allies, find items on drops, etc... It's a good pick up for sure.
Funny, a friend of mine that's a huge Sega fan was disgusted with this game. It's the only DC game he's ever just given away and always curses people who give it good reviews.

As for me, I found it alright. I couldn't get into it though and I bought it years ago at Game Stop while on sale. I wouldn't say it's better than Diablo, however if you did want a game that rivals Diablo go with Dark Stone for PSX, Record of Lodoss War on DC or Bouldars Gate on any console or PC/MAC.

Fruits Basket (region 1 complete anime series): $21-ish... about damn time I get a deal from ebay.
I have some sigs from voice actors for the show, really nice people. I've been wanting to get my hands ont he series but it has yet to drop below $35 even used. Hoping to find it at an anime convention sooner than even later.

@ cyberfluxor: I got lucky on that one. Some guy on ebay was selling volumes 1, 3, and 4 for 99 cents each. I got the only bid in, so those ended up being $10 shipped priority with delivery confirmation.

Volume 2 was purchased from half.com for $8 + ship, making it $11.

Both shipments arrived today, completing my Furuba collection.

Keep checking, or I can check for you, if you don't feel like sifting through a shitload of bootlegs on e(vil)bay.

Not really sure. Some anime collectors like the boxes, others don't. I haven't been able to get any boxes for volume 1s (or volume 2s in the case of recent ADV stuff).

Have you looked for thrifts, etc? I don't know how 'near Atlanta' you are, but assuming a suburb, there are surely many in your area. Maybe you are farther away from the city, which means thrift stores might be harder to find, but you also have a better shot at bigger scores when you do find them.

I bought mine new $15 the other week at Game Stop while they were having that big sale, which is actually still going on around here. I would suggest going back soon and seeing if you can challenge that price to get $5 back.

Strangely enough, my store had two copies, one $20 and the other $15...

I asked why this was, and according to the kid behind the counter, my $20 copy was considered "new" even though it wasn't shrink-wrapped, while the $15 copy was "used." I didn't press him on this because the $15 copy was pretty beat up in appearance, so I opted to just pay the premium for a copy in good condition.

I'm not going to worry about the $5, they can consider it a parting gift, I'll never shop there again.

Cornelius,

I'm 25 miles outside of Atlanta, it takes 35-40 minutes to get there. I haven't tried all the thrift shops around me, but so far none of them have had any games, and pawn shops are ridiculously overpriced. I'm going to try a couple other thrift shops in the morning, but don't count on me posting any finds. :( I want to try some yard sales, but I have a strange phobia about them.

Thanks for the responses.

I seldom find anything at thrifts (Goodwill, SA, Savers), and prices are a bit high when I do. I think my Goodwill puts the good stuff on their bidding site. That or they'll put any system that comes along in their silent auction cabinet. You just have to keep trying them, though. We have a local(?) chain of thrifts here (Unique) that is a little better. Garage sales are where the really great deals are, though. Or flea markets.

Oh yeah, my finds: pretty weak yesterday, came across FFIII for 25 at a garage sale, but passed since I just can't pay that much at a freakin garage sale. Picked up the Dragon Warrior handbook and map for a quarter instead. Also found Jet Grind Radio (DC) for a buck later on.

Hit a yard sale today. The guy had boxes of new PS2 games and a bunch of new DS games. I think he bought up the TRU and Best Buy clearances. I picked up a used Adventures of Cookies & Cream for the PS2 $5 and a new copy of Tall: Infinity for the PS1 for $3. The prices on his other games weren't that bad, just nothing I was interested in.

Me?

Well, I found three Rocky Horror Show CDs at the flea market: The original cast recording, the rarities disc, and one that has recordings from different locations.

But the other stuff?

That gun cost me a buck. The pad cost me $3. Is the Dual Analog worth anything? :D

Hit a neighborhood yard sale today. Spent two hours walking between all of them and only found the following:

SNES deck only - 50 cents

Saturn deck only - $2.00

Didn't need either but nice to have some spares if needed.

I actually got up early this morning and went to a yard sale, something I rarely do, cause yard sales in my area suck. But this one had an ad in the paper with "NINTENDO" in big bold letters, so I decided to take a chance. It started at 7:00, I showed up at about 6:45 as they were setting up and inquired about the Nintendo games. Turns out someone had come even earlier than I did and scooped 'em all up. Bah.

Went to Goodwill after that and found a lone Virtual Boy controller (sans battery pack). I never see VB stuff out in the wild, and for three bucks, how could you go wrong?

Last sale I went to today finally had some things, all for $10:
JC Penny Pong clone

Dreamcast w/ hookups, 1 DC controller, 2 aftermarkets, a VMU (is that right? never had a DC before), rumble pack, and 28 disc only games on a spindle.

Everything was pretty grimy, but a damp paper towel took care of most of it. The Dreamcast works, but damn, are they all so loud?!?! Haven't stuck batteries in the pong to try it out yet.

Yes, Loud GD-ROM drives are normal for Dreamcast.

Anyway, my only find:

- A random AC Adaptor (Looked like it was Atari compatible, but it's voltage was too low to power my 2600 Mini): $.50 (Was $1)

Passed up:

- Sega Genesis 3rd Party Controller: $1
- Halo 2 (Xbox. Loose & batly beaten up): $10 X_x

Also, my Xbox hasn't arrived yet.

Most dreamcasts are very loud. I have two, And one is a roaring monster while the other is very quiet for a dreamcast.

Yah, same here with the dreamcast. They vary, but it doesnt really bother me. Kinda adds a little charm.

As for my finds, I just missed out on a big Saturn craigslist sale for 15 bucks (Console, 2 controllers, and 14 games -several R5s) because the woman's husband sold it without telling her. Bah!

Nothing really crazy but I grabbed King of Fighters Evolution for the DC $9 used, like new. Amazing that it's my first KoF purchase so I'll be playing this one tomorrow since I'm going to bed shortly.

I used to have that game and another one that I think had robin hood on it, I lent it to a kid years ago and never saw them again. :(

Past 2 weeks:

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u160/Xexyz1337/IM000498.jpg

- Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Justice for All $29.99 at BB.

- SMS Pad and Rising Zan: Samurai Gunman rounded up at about $10 total from a local game store.

- Everything else was from today at a regional flea market. A vendor I frequent gave me a deal on the NES games at 2 for $5, so I picked up Super Dodge Ball, Ikari Warriors 2, Baseball Simulator 1.000, Codename Viper, Ninja Gaiden, and Ninja Gaiden II. Super Ninja Boy was $4 from the same vendor. Omega Boost and Grand Turismo were $2 each from a different vendor. At one of the last vendors I visited, a couple of SMS games caught my eye. Picked up Quartet and Rambo III, both complete, for $4 a piece.

And the find that made my day...

A Sega Nomad with 1st party carrying case for $25. Now how in the hell do you charge the battery pack in the back? Wouldn't surprise me if it doesn't work anymore, but still, HOW?

I'm guessing you can use a standard Genesis (model 2 I think) AC adapter to run the Nomad and that will charge the pack, too. Don't know for sure though. It might have come with a charging dock.

Nice find btw.

Not sure about the rechargeable battery pack. In reality, either use >2500 mAH rechargeable AAs in the standard battery pack or just plug it into the wall with a genesis 2 adaptor.

Either way, I want that carrying case! I love my nomad, but that case just looks awesome.
