Here's another thing to consider: If it wasn't for the Wii's controller, we wouldn't be talking about this, right now.

Haven't we established that the controller is NOT at fault. If it was the controller, then the Ps2 and PSP versions would still be a go.

I just came to a realization about this whole mess.

This, right here. This thread. The Kotaku, GameFAQs, IGN crowd whining. The people proclaiming they became interested and will buy this game because of censorship and fighting for creative rights.

This is Rockstar's advertising campaign.

Rockstar knew exactly what was going to happen when they submitted this game to the ESRB and the BBFC, they knew full well it was going to get rejected and lambasted, and a shitstorm would erupt with their new game squarely in the center.

I feel a little sick, because I fell for it. :shameful: Meanwhile, preorders have almost certainly doubled in the last two days...

Because it's a GAME. It's made up. It's NOT REAL.

What if it was a JPN dating sim or eroge game where the object is to rape an 8 year old anime style girl? It's not real.

I know pot isn't -as bad-, but it's still a substance that alters your perception of things. Say you're stoned and driving a car. You fall asleep, people get hurt.

STFU please - It's only 6:30 am and you've lowered my IQ at least 100 points. People who take benadryl for an allergy fits this same argument -- but ONLY if you drive. If you drink, don't drive / smoke grass, don't drive.

If you don't like Uber-violence, don't play.

If I'm at a Flea market and see an 80 year old man behind the wheel, running over people (sober and un-medicated) should I blame the people who made the car? Go after the DMV worker who issued a license? :bawling:

The issue isn't really an issue. Culture just does what it does.
Japan and Russia - child porn.
New Zealand - grow your own pot, buy party pills at the supermarket.
UK - boobs, light drug use on TV.
US - violence at almost every level is considered entertainment.
China - bootleg Disney World ... it's cool.

... Since when did this thread devolve into insults? I'm trying to discuss something, and you're only attacking me. There are LAWS to be respected, even if you disagree with them. I'm not trying to say pot is bad or good, I'm only trying to rationalize the reason why it's considered illegal.

If people willingly do things while under the influence or while being medicated when the warnings state that they should not do it (such as the "Do not operate heavy machinery" warning) then they should be held accountable, at least partially. The warnings are there for a reason. Granted, pot doesn't have that warning label, but there's common sense. If you get drowsy when using pot, then you shouldn't use it when you're doing things that require your full attention.

Edit:
And if a senior citizen should not be driving because of mental or health reasons, then someone should notify the DMV so his license is revoked. I don't know if that's how the system works, or if such a feature exists.
