Found a sealed copy of Dusty Diamond's Softball for the NES today at a flea market sitting in with some open carts. When I asked the vendor how much he wanted for it he said all of his NES games were $3 apiece. I almost fainted...

I spent entirely too much this week. I got a Polar White DS Lite and free case at Circuit City on Tuesday.
Then, this morning (7/7/2007) was very good to me. I went to a yard sale that was advertised on Craigslist where a guy sold me a loose Xbox system with 2 controllers, AV cord and power cord and the following complete games for $50 total:
AMF Bowling 2004
Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2005
MLB Slugfest 2006
Red Dead Revolver
World Championship Poker
High Rollers Casino
Crimson Skies
Outlaw Golf
King Kong
Gun
Seriously, I need another duplicate system like I need a hole in my head, but I couldn't pass it up. I might get this Xbox modded for emulation...or maybe I'll just keep it for system linked games.
Here's the rest of the stuff I picked up at other yard sales:
Atari Flashback 2 System (boxed) - $5
Bram Stoker's Dracula (Genesis, complete) - $1
Genesis cleaning kit (boxed) - 50 cents
Rayman Arena (GameCube, complete) - $5
Spyro (GameCube, game & case) - $5
Kirby Air Ride (GameCube, complete) - $5
I also found a Hewlett Packard Pavilion laptop with bag for $46. The lady asked for $50, but I didn't have anymore cash on me at that point. I don't own a laptop and this one has only crappy Windows 98 on it, but I was able to load my retro PC titles onto this computer, so it wasn't a total useless impulse purchase. I already put Castlevania/Contra, Atari Arcade and Sega Smash Pack 1 & 2 on it, and it doesn't seem to have any problems.
Oh, and I passed on a complete copy of Sims 2: Pets for DS at another YS...

Got these at a CD/Game Exchange this evening:
NES:
Castlevania (cart only) - $5
Super Off-Road (cart only) - $2.50
Tecmo NBA Basketball (cart only) - $1
Paid a little more for Castlevania than I like to for NES games (the majority of my NES library cost me $3 or less per game), but since it's an A-list NES title and the last Castlevania game on the system that I didn't have, I figured what the hell.
I had a really good day hunting (for me anyway). Here is what I got today.
A Sega Genesis CDX (Perfect Condition)--$9.99
A mini Galaxian arcade machine in box with manuals and packaging---$2.00
A Burgertime Intellivsion game, still sealed, in alomost perfect condition, a few NES carts, Sonic CD and Ecco the Dolphin CD in perfect shape and a Genesis game still in box (paid about $15 for all of these).

Took a picture of my goodies from yesterday:
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c196/cyberfluxor/070707.jpg
5200 games were $3.99 each, buy 3 get the 4th free so $24 + tax for the 8 games. Not bad at all, pretty happy about it really. There were 25 games and the remainders were beaten up on the tops or had some tearing. Pengo is still factory sealed and plan on trading* it.
Myst guide was free and covers all "current generation" consoles, including my Saturn port.
Tekkaman Blade Collection 1 was $20 new at Best Buy. I've been thinking about picking it up for a month now and the 3rd collection is due out in August, plenty of time to watch this, grab col. 2 and picking up col. 3 around release.
*- The Pengo is up for trade only for another Pengo copy that's open, mint/"like new" condition and complete. Whomever is interested just pays shipping for mine and theirs.

Some stuff I got yesterday-
Blue Gameboy Advance SP- $8
The owner's manual for an Odyssey in a box of stuff for $2 (The box of stuff cost $2)
I went to a very good sale(The kind you talk about at least a year after it happens) where I got a lot of valuable non-gaming related stuff, like: An antique railroad lantern for $5, 2 James Avery rings for $20, a platinum ring for $10, a giant vintage Texaco lighter for $.50, some old hard back Addams family books for $1 each and much, much more. Oddly enough, the Odyssey manual was mixed in with stuff twice its' age. Weird
I also got a Game.com on friday for $.50 The screen is busted (it has these white lines where the screen won't show, but I can see parts of the screen when it's on) Doh! It has Quiz Wiz and Lights Out.
About that Gameboy SP, it doesn't work. I posted a thread about it in the technical restoration society. Specifically, it won't power up, you can read more about it in the thread. Any help would be (greatly) appreciated.

I doubt it was a promo box. Macplay games were enclosed in cardboard boxes like the one you have, and they had a slipcover which had the front and back covers for the game. I've sold several Macplay games and they have all used the same box design, so maybe someone just stored the two games on the box to save space.
But it may have been a two-pack for all I know.

thanks for the info; this is the first macplay box i've seen so i didn't know whether they all looked like that or not. there's one manual for both games and one CD-ROM inside the sealed plastic, so it might be a two-pack...

Got a few decent deals today:
Bought Transformers the Game at Toys 'R Us, got Spider-Man 3 for free. Both on 360.
Bought Resident Evil 4 for the Wii and a PS3 memory card adapter at Best Buy.
The deal that made my day was a Sony brand HDMI cable at Wal-Mart for $20.00 on clearance. It was originally $39.86 I believe. I don't know if this is a chain wide markdown, but if anyone needs one it might be worth checking out.
Also bought a 6 foot tall 5 shelf maple bookcase at Target on sale for $24. Gotta have someplace to put all these games! Hope everyone has a great week!

Holy cow, people!!! What is going on with all the crazy good finds?!? Keep it up, cause I love reading about them.
I found a loose, scratched to hell (but don't think any are too deep) Neverhood disc in a random bin at a Salvation Army in Springfield, MO where I was visiting my folks. My other finds are really my Dad's that he picked up for me:
The box has a complete (though beat up and yellow) NES and what is probably the original SMB that came with it, and was $5. The rest was a lot for $20 (there are 28 games, most common and extras, but a couple r3s I didn't have).

My only find from last week (since I was on vacation):
Ridge Racer V (PS2) NEW and SEALED: $9.99 from FYE. I was shocked when I saw this game just sitting there, still sealed up. I got it from the FYE in the Florida Mall in Orlando. The sticker said $14.99 but it rang up as $9.99. :) I had been searching for this game like crazy around my area (McDonough, GA) and no one had a good copy of it. I finally got lucky and got more than what I was expecting...a new copy of it!

not a bad day yesterday. Went to goodwill, and after almost passing them by, picked up a boxed master of monsters for $2 as well as a complete rocket knight adventures for $2 as well, now I just need to sell off my loose copies of each. Second thrift I went to I picked up the nes games Jackal and Punisher (beat up label) for $5 together, not the greatest price but I wanted both games.
Too bad this makes me want to check some of those stores I haven't hit up in a while since both of those locations are ones I very rarely visit as they usually don't have much to offer.

All the discs are mint and almost all the sega cd games still have the foam over the discs. I'm still shocked looking at some of them since I've only seen the really rare ones on ebay for crazy prices. He had some more I wanted but I had to limit myself. He gave me a few empty boxes and sms 3d glasses he had for free since he had no use for them. Now to find room for all these.

Expensive (but enjoyable) day at the flea market. Overcast weather and breezy conditions kept the temperature down for most of the morning, a nice break from the 100+ degree temperatures as of late. Almost felt like October which made the vendors happy as there were Summer crowds with Autumn weather. I ended up doing about three laps around and came up with some cool stuff.
Cheapy laptop bag for my ancient notebook - $2.00
http://www.classicplastic.net/digitalpress/DP-Finds-2007-07-10(01).jpg
I picked up a copy of Skate or Die for $1.00 a little ways down and continued on. Found a bunch of people wanting five bucks or more for old Tiger LCD games. Then it was on to my game dealing, deal cutting buddy. Traded back the copy of Project S-11 I bought last week (as it gets insanely cheap in the later levels) and did a hard purge of his inventory. To begin I picked up five more NES games...
Cybernoid
Dick Tracy
Kabuki Quantum Fighter
Raid on Bungeling Bay
Skate or Die
Taboo The Sixth Sense
http://www.classicplastic.net/digitalpress/DP-Finds-2007-07-10(02).jpg
...and some Game Boy and GBA cartridges...
GB - 36 in 1
GB - Game & Watch Gallery
GBA - 22 in 1
http://www.classicplastic.net/digitalpress/DP-Finds-2007-07-10(03).jpg
The 36 in 1 and 22 in 1 are bootleg multicarts of course. 36 in 1 contains...
SD Gundam 2
Felix The Cat
Super Mario Land
Tennis
Tetris
The rest are repeats of the same. Not bad at all to have in my GBC to kill time now and then when out. 22 in 1 for the GBA does not contain GBA or GB games, instead it's an assortment of 22 NES games...
Adventure Island 4
Super Mario Bros.
Dr. Mario
Mario Bros. (Afro Hack)
Magic Jewelry
Battle City
Bomberman
Donkey Kong
10-Yard Fight
Binary Land
Clu Clu Land
Lode Runner
Nuts & Milk
Excitebike
Pac-Man
Millipede
Joust
Mappy
Pinball
Pyramid
Warpman
Yie Ar Kung-Fu
Amazingly all the games look great with minimal compression to fit the GBA screen dimensions. Look every bit as good as the NES Classics Series games anyway. Games are selected via a menu, as the list is scrolled through the game is displayed running its attract sequence in the background...
http://www.classicplastic.net/digitalpress/DP-Finds-2007-07-10(04).jpg
Once a game is selected the menu dissapears as if it was never there. Graphically things are perfect with sound being just a SLIGHT bit off now and then. The games really do look great though...
http://www.classicplastic.net/digitalpress/DP-Finds-2007-07-10(05).jpg
Note the cartridge is running in an Afterburner modded GBA. They look even better running on a DS Lite. There were a few other GBA NES multicarts there with slightly different game assortments. There was one with LifeForce (Salamander, in fact it was LifeForce on the menu but was the Salamander ROM) that I think I'll get next week. If anyone would like some of these GBA NES cartridges, please get in touch with me and I'll see what I can do. Nice portable time killer with an NES library in your pocket.
After my massive discount I spent $23 total at that vendor but believe me, I pay much less than anyone else including my classic gaming rival who I see every week.
I was just about to call it a day, satisfied with what I had obtained and trying not to spend too much today. As I was heading out I looked over the wares of one vendor near the main entrance / exit and saw a few 2600 and 7800 cartridges in a box. I looked over them and she had another box of carts below, a few uncommons, nice assortment of fun games. She came over and said she had the whole system, picking up the cartridges, and revealing an Atari 7800 in the box below them. She said $35, I offered $30, and that was that. The system is complete and the box is in beautiful shape however the Proline Joysticks went into the trash as they were worn beyond repair. Time to buy some Atari Joypads. A few of the common cartridges had severe damage and had to be tossed as well but what came out of it wasn't bad at all. Additionally there was a standard VCS joystick that works great and a NES AC adapter in there as well.

So I ended up spending more than I wanted to but since it was all cool stuff in great shape I can't complain. I've completed the Atari trifecta and I know I'll actually play my 7800 and it won't sit in storage like my 5200 and it's stupid proprietary RF switch.

Was able to swing by a few garage sales this morning. First stop didn't look too promising, but then I saw this box of NES stuff minding its business off to the side for 25 (from 30). All the games have sleeves and manuals, and I had one of those grey storage things as a kid, so that's kinda cool. Too bad I didn't notice the few SNES manuals/setup booklet in with it... I would have asked if they had that for sale anywhere. I think my SMB/DH collection is now up to 8 or 9 \\^_^/

yup, the classic game starring Bub and Bob! I probably logged more hours on that game as a kid than any other, largely cause my sister could play it with me at the same time. Couldn't find a copy (wild) for the longest time, and now I've had 5 or 6 go through my hands.
The other one that might be hard to make out is Tetris 2 on the bottom left. And maybe ducktales if you are familiar w/ the label.

I stopped at a pawn shop that supposedly was doing a buy 2 get 1 on their PS2 and XBox games because they claimed that they had over a hundred games piled up. The layout in the store was so annoying that I didn't buy anything. The games were on these shelves behind the counter, but the space between the counter and the wall was so large that I could barely make out the titles from my side. I couldn't see any easy way to browse them all since I wasn't about to ask the guy to read off a 100 titles to me or bring me pile after pile of games to look through. From what I could make out, I didn't see anything special. They also had some Game Boy stuff under the glass near the front of the store, but that too was impossible to browse. They had some overpriced systems, but all I was interested in was the GBA and GB carts. However, they had them in a row all on top of each other, so I could only see the very first GBA cart and the first GB cart. Lame. I didn't feel like having the guy walk all the way to the front of the store to pull all of those out for me either, especially when I suspected that I either wouldn't find anything good or it would be overpriced. Maybe I missed out on something, but meh. It's their fault if they're losing business because stuff is laid out incompetently (and the women's jewelry was so excessively spaced out that there were several inches between each piece).
So anyway, I went next door to the Goodwill that I've been fairly regularly stopping in. Saw a whole bunch of PC titles, but nothing worth anything. I was going to pick up King's Quest VII, though, but when I opened the box the contents were all missing. :/ I found several Genesis carts, but they had either been picked over or there was nothing that great in the first place because they were just about all sports titles. I did pick up Spider-Man for $1.49.
Then under the glass near the registers I spotted a sealed Lock 'N' Chase for Intellivision. I bought it on the off chance that it would be worth something, but, regardless, 5.99 ain't too bad for a game that old that appears to still be factory sealed.

I had a really cool find at Savers today. Which is cool since I usually find next to nothing there. I picked up a brand new sealed copy of Forgotten Realms Archive Silver Edition for $3.99. I haven't played any of the AD&D gold box games since the C64, so I'm pretty stoked to have found this. Especially when I got home and discovered Pool Of Radiance was on it too as it isn't mentioned on the box. Now I need to install Pool Of Radiance and see if it's as great as I thought it was when I was 14. :) Let's hope these work on XP.

yup, the classic game starring Bub and Bob!
The only one that I can't make out is the one between Donkey kong classics and Top gun.

Flea Market--HOT
Crazy Junk Vendors Wanting $10.00 Each for Dirty NES Zappers(Oh,they are a hot item on Ebay)
Spent $35.00 in total..
Not finding anything worthwhile or with a reasonable price I hit up a vendors Mass piles of CDs,VCR and DVDS looking for music...I don't usually deal with the vendor as he's overpriced and a smartass.
Poking through his piles I came accross a Japanese PS2 Game(uh-oh)..I started going through all this mess, mix of CDs,VCR and DVDS and came up with another and another..Lots of Japanes DVDs that I don't know if they were worthwhile so I left them..
There was so many piles that I had to take a break(hot),paid for what I had and came back to search again in which I found more..(said to Dad,It pays to come back and look again)
The vendor had so much stuff that I might have been there for 45 minutes looking through it all...I believe I got everything though..
The Jap PS Games have the little end cards and stuff in them for when I guess they are sealed.
Top Right in the first Picture below is a Sealed item(In CD Case)..It says Playstation 2 DVD Tecmo/CRIMSON REPORT..........(?)
So,to play these all I guess I need a Jap PS2?
The US PS2 Sly 2 had Sly 1 in it also

his last weekend I came across this rather sad looking orphan Vectrex
(no o/l's, controller). It was out in the back reaches of an old barn at a junk collector's yard sale. Here's the dusty condition that I found it in.

After a thorough cleaning, and an extra overlay and controller I was fortunate to have around, a nice perfectly working Vectrex....not bad for a $5 bill http://www.atariage.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/icon_smile.gif

That or a chip modded US PS2 or a boot disc and a special flip top cover for the old one.
I have been buying these "broken" lots from a store cause they are really cheap. Most I can fix but it is just the systems no cords or controllers.
PS2-DRE
PS2 Two- broken flip top
SNES- the rare yellow one :)
6x NES- probably bad connectors
Playstation-?
Sega CD 2-?
Game Boy-?
Virtual Boy- only fries your right eye
$55, I can make more than that on the NESs alone.
7800 w/ expansion and bag of cords + games also a NES drawer $5
The best find was at a garage sale cause it was a system I didn't have,
CD-i 220/37 just the player cause thay said they couldn't the rest $2, it works after I bought Escape from cyber city for $5 then found a new DVC for $18 and a thumbstick for $13 shipped on ebay.

Got the hong kong version of Kung Fu and a weird Ikari cart today.
Anyone know if there is any kind of market for these? I bought them hoping they'd be multi but it is exactly what it says it is and I don't have a real interest in them.

A couple bucks, maybe. I have a straight Wrecking Crew pirate that reads "Super Mario Bros" although the art is from the Famicom Wrecking crew. It came in a lot of a handful of Famicom cartridges, think I paid maybe $10 shipped for them all. Was from a user here, everyone in the thread was debating that they were ALL pirate cartridges so I bought them to prove that they were all official except for said Wrecking Crew.

Like David said they are mostly not valuable, kung fu is a particularly common pirated game (any of the mapper 0 games usualy are easily found save devil world) they are always a fun piece to add to a collection, I don't think i've come across an ikari pirate (i'm pretty sure mines an original)

Then under the glass near the registers I spotted a sealed Lock 'N' Chase for Intellivision. I bought it on the off chance that it would be worth something, but, regardless, 5.99 ain't too bad for a game that old that appears to still be factory sealed.
I was going to buy that Lock N Chase game but left it behind. I did buy the Sealed Burgertime Intellivision game that was in the same glass counter. Sounds like we just missed each other. What amazes me is how I know which Goodwill you were at just by the minor descriptions in your post such as the game in the counter and the Pawn Shop next door. It is definitely a small world. Although, now I know I have some competition at one of my regular stops! Good Luck!LOL

Heh, I have always gotten the feeling that that place is picked over. :P Have you ever found anything really good there? I find it pretty dry, but I have picked up some odds and ends over the years, just nothing too impressive. Probably the best stuff I've seen in there was stuff I didn't even buy because I already had it.
Just out of curiosity, were you shopping in the area back when there was a Video Update across the street? That place was so awesome and I got boatloads of stuff from there. Every time I see that Brooklyn Ave II clothing store it turned into I curse its existence. :P That deserted Thrift Center up the road used to be pretty good too. I never got anything amazing there, but it was still worth a look. It seems like my whole collecting life story is an endless stream of closed businesses.
Anyway, I hit another thrift yesterday and managed to get a surprisingly large haul, by my standards at least.
For 2.99 a piece I got:
The Jungle Book (SNES) - loose (I don't know what possesses me to keep paying so much for so-so Disney licensed SNES carts, but I guess I'm excited to see anything that's not a sports game)
Animaniacs (Genesis) - complete
Double Switch (Sega CD) - complete
Mortal Kombat (Sega CD) - complete
Trivial Pursuit (Sega CD) - complete
The 7th Guest (PC) - complete in jewel case but no outer packaging (Again, I bought this at random in case it was worth something since I don't know squat about PC game values. Plus it amused me because the staircase screen shot on the back is the same one they used in Nintendo Power when revealing the CD-ROM attachment. :P It's not really worth much more than I paid, so maybe I'll just hold onto it.)
And for 4.99 I bought a boxed Super Scope, which I was pretty excited about. When I got it home, I discovered it's missing the cart and the receiver, but I think it's still a good find. I see those Super Scope 6 carts everywhere for dirt cheap, so the receiver will be the only trick to replace.

My second favorite PC game of all time. (between Descent and The Last Express) If it's the Windows 95/98 compatible version then it's "complete" in the jewel case. The original DOS release simply came in an empty twin CD case in the box and the early release (which I still have a copy of) came with a "making of" VHS tape. I keep the first release DOS version for sentimental reasons, the jewel case Windows release to play. Only real differences are the new Virgin Interactive logo (instead of Virgin Games) and the Windows release doesn't have music during the credits before the opening sequence - also missing the "How did I get here?" line at the start.

I just got Guilty Gear X2 #Reload for the XBOX at Gamestop earlier today. It works great on the 360 thanks to the latest BC update.

I havent really found anything great. Usually its a bunch of sport games. I never did hit the Video Update. Sounded like a good place. Its sad to see places like that go away.

I did the thrifting rounds today, didn't find much. Bought a Famicom pirate multicart called "Super 27/76/138/1,000,000 in 1" cartridge. What are the odds that there aren't really a million games on this cart? I also ended up buying a shrinkwrapped cardboard CD case of Sam & Max Hit The Road for $2.99. No box or instructions, though.
I stopped at a new store called "Entertainmart" (that's apparently a spin-off of the Vintage Stock chain) and looked at their massive modern game selection. All sorts of supposedly 'rare' Xbox games were stocked, other than that Barbie one. And they do the caseless game sales right. Unlike GameStop, they mark all their DVD caseless games down to $3.99. I ended up buying (for the Xbox) Totaled!, Advent Rising, Spy vs. Spy, and Test Drive: Eve of Destruction. I also picked up No One Can Stop Mr. Domino for the PS1, and Ultima: Runes of Virtue for the Gameboy for the same price.
Dropped by a Movie Trading Company and looked through their classic game selection. Picked up P.O.ed and Shockwave 2 for the 3DO ($2.99 and $4.99), Rampart for the NES ($4.99), and for the Atari 2600, found Commando, Tutankham, Skate Boardin', and Secret Quest, all $1.99.
