its not as much of an improvement as the DS/Lite upgrade.

And TV out on a handheld is the stupidest thing I can think of.
Agreed. I buy my handhelds to play portable games, not hook them up to the TV. Besides, TV out doesn't do you much good when you are on a long car ride or inside of a public place (waiting room, etc.) where you don't have TV access.

Then again, it doesn't have the horrible ghosting the PSP screen has.
Also, who needs to wait for a GTA LCS/VCS style port of MGS PoOps which will probably never happen when they can just use video out?

I really think 480x272 pixels is going to look like crap on any decent TV, unless Sony does something special. Especially now that we are spoiled with component out and HD signals.
Have you ever seen a PSP commercial? The actual PSP footage only takes up a tenth of the screen.
QFT....people are going to realize fast it isn't going to look how they think it will.
Remember the Super Game Boy? Well, let's assume there will be no screen stretching option for the PSP video out. And let's assume we're working with an SDTV. And let's assume we're centering the image.
480x272 vs. 640x480
That's 80 unused pixels on the left, 80 on the right, 104 on the top, and 104 on the bottom. Add in overscan, and you're probably going to see something very similar to a non-anamorphic widescreen DVD.

TV output is epic and I'll upgrade for sure. The pixel-pushers are hippocrite graphics whores who on the one hand condemn the PSP while at the same time idolize the 420p "ability" of the Wii.
Your the man bro:pimp:
Ive been a gamer for over 25 years and the whole "TV out thing" is a damn kool feature that MANY handhelds needed YEARS ago.
Sure its not a big deal to some but I think some ppl are underestimating its use.
If they dont port Silent Hill origins over to PS2 then I will definitely pick up a new slim model PSP and play it on a SD TV and at least I have that option now.
In all respect some ppl (technophiles) will fucking bitch about anything.
If HD is soo freaking important to everyone as some claim then why is the Wii still selling like hotcakes made out of crack?
OH yea cause all this HD definition shit is only important to the tech obsessed and graphic whores thats why.*
* IF you have taken offense to this then you are a graphic whore or technophile dont bother flaming:bad-words: me seek counseling ASAP:help:
and try to remember that videogames are supposed to be FUN! that is all.

Even more stupid than following dating advice from a website.
OFF-TOPIC: Believing everything on the 'net is bullshit is just as ignorant as believing everything on the 'net is true. Don't knock it 'till you try it chief. The 100+ girls I've banged since joining FastSeduction101 would say that a lot of that dating advice was pretty damn solid.

Remember Ken Kutaragi? He had this to say about the Sony PSP:
"I believe we made the most beautiful thing in the world. Nobody would criticize a renowned architect’s blueprint that the position of a gate is wrong. It’s the same as that."
"This is the design that we came up with. There may be people that complain about its usability, but that's something which users and game software developers will have to adapt to."
Now Sony is changing it.

Actually, they aren't changing it that much. They kind of just slimmed it down and added some guts to it.

yes, everyone sho disagrees with you is a troll. I've stated many times before that I want PSP, and badly. I refuse, though, to pay that much for one. All this "Upgrade" does is push back the date I can finally afford one. The physical changes may be nice, but ultimately I don't really care. I play Game Boy games on an original brick. Size and weight matter little.
And TV out on a handheld is the stupidest thing I can think of. Even more stupid than following dating advice from a website.
Ah, but you DO care about the physical changes, since they also address certain problems that have plagued earlier iterations of the hardware. The crap screen. for one, and battery life for two. See also face buttons that fall off, WLAN switches stuck in the off position, a square button that stops working, etc. etc. etc.
And TV Out quite simply rocks, since games like Silent Hill, Metal Gear PO, Ratchet and Clank, and Syphon Filter work much better on a larger screen to begin with. I'd personally rather play these games on a home console in the first place, but I'll take TV out if its my only option.:|

I, for one, think the TV out is an awesome idea. Some people just dont get it. ITS like "why have tv out on a PORTABLE??!!!" My simple answer is that, on the road, its great tohave the portable, but if I'm at home, maybe Idont want to squint at the screen and listen to the audio on headphones. It's just nicer to have that option to be bale to hook it up to my tv and stereo and play it on a bigger screen.
I read the statement of how more portables should have had this option. When I think of it as "Can I play these portable games on my tv in some way?", a lot actually can. The Nomad and Turbo Express didnt need one since you CAN play their "portable" games at home already (though the Nomad DID have a video out...kudos to Sega). GBA? Nintendo made the GBA player for the Gamecube. Some just should have the option, like the Wonderswan, the Lynx, Gamegear but others can't for logistical reasons (the DS).
Some say video out is stupid, others liek myself think the exact opposite. Its nice to have the best of both worlds on that. If people didnt REALLY want it, then the GBA Player wouldn't have sold well, correct? At least now on the new PSP its simple...its there for you...you wanna use it? Great...Dont care about it? dont use it :)
