When I heard about this at CGE 2K7, I didn't expect it to get much press coverage, but this is a good start. I'll have to check my local paper today and tommorrow for a review.

Anyone plan on seeing it?

Here is the IMDB site on it with a few reviews:

I'm going to try to see it this weekend. One of the stars of the movie, Donkey Kong champion Billy Mitchell, has an ego the size of his mullet, so it should be funny.

I'd love to see it but it's currently only in limited release-- just NYC and LA markets I believe. Anyone know of plans to expand beyond that? Such as plans for a wide release?

Check the movie's web site, it has a list of cities where the movie will be released within the next month. I'm so glad it's coming here to San Antonio September 7. Cant wait.

I saw it 2 weeks ago at the Traverse City Film Fest. I enjoyed it, and so did the mostly non-gamer audience.

I wanted to go see it too up there, since I'm only 40 minutes from TC, but I had to work damn night. Any word on a DVD release?

Apparently it's coming to Madison, WI, but the date is TBA... I hope we don't have to wait too long. I really want to see this!

Seems like it's slowly spreading through the country, so we're likely a long way from the DVD release. It's too early for even the filmmakers to know when it will come out-- depends on how well it does, how long it stays in theaters, etc. But I'd venture to guess that we're at least 9 months away from that release.

Everyone I saw it with really enjoyed it. After the screening, the director and Steve Wiebe talked about the movie. It sounds like some cool parts were edited out of the movie,

I just saw the movie last night at the AMC theater on 42nd St. in NYC. I thought it was great. Even people who aren't die hard video game fanatics are giving it great reviews.

According to twingalaxies.com, Steve Wiebe is ranked number one in Donkey Kong:

As I posted in the other thread where you posted the same...

"The accomplishment, backed up by video tape of his gameplay, provides further supporting evidence of his record," explains Walter Day, Chief Scorekeeper at Twin Galaxies and editor of Twin Galaxies' Official Video Game & Pinball Book of World Records. "After two top Twin Galaxies referees-- all experts at Donkey Kong -- have reviewed his tape, we will publish the highlights of his accomplishment on the Twin Galaxies website at www.twingalaxies.com."

And as I posted in the other thread:

Billy Mitchell supposedly set the new Donkey Kong record on Friday, July 13, 2007. Almost six weeks later, Sunday, August 19, 2007, Steve Wiebe is still listed as having the highest score. How long does it take two guys to watch a video tape? Or did they already watch it and decide the footage was unusable?

Are you one of Billy's worshippers like all those guys in the movie?

I saw a piece about it on a local news magazine show called "Evening Magazine" here in the Seattle area. Steve Wiebe and the director are both from the area. Pretty hilarious stuff, and now I want to see the film even more. If anyone else wants to see the piece from the show, you can check it out here:

Steve Wiebe's wife cracks me up, haha.

Crap, the movie isn't coming to Florida. I used to live in Austin, and one of the places it's already playing is at the Austin Drafthouse, so that's a kick in the pants.

I guess if worse comes to worst, I'll wait until the DVD comes out and then either buy, rent, or download it.
