I think I was on Live right as it hit, because I D/L the trailer just fine, but I had a heck of a time getting the theme and gamerpics. Finally got them though, after several tries.

The trailer is cool--though it doesn't show us any gameplay. And we have to wait until 2007. Boo!

Still, I had to watch it several times over. I haven't felt this fanboyish since the last Zelda trailer hit. The music was great--different, but still had that "Halo" feel.

Those Twos ruled, and so did Resident Evil 2. Definitely the pinnacle of the series up until 4.

I like playing Halo.

Wanna know why? Gameplaywise, it's as good or as bad as many other top-ranked FPS....Halo was very good and Halo 2 sure could have been a damned sight better (bad "ending", poor offline, glitched graphics and sound and incredibly confusing maps....come to think of it, why DOESN'T Bungie incorporate a map system into Halo). THE reason that I play Halo games is for the incredible music and atmosphere....nothing else. Killing aliens is just something to do while I'm "there" enjoying the rest of it.

well I disagree PC gaming is still one of the best experiences depending on the types of game, but in a sense Halo and Halflife are two toally differnet experiences but if you look at the sequels for Half-Life 2 which is an amazing game and Halo 2 which is crap compared to looking at Halo 1 which was good compared to Half-Life 1 which is decent but not that great

so I guess it's preference but I still will say that Halo 2 is one of the most dissapointing games and I don't have much faith Halo 3 will be any better.

Well, gameplay-wise......I hope that Bungie doesn't put all of it's efforts into the Live component of Halo 3. They'd have to have been living under a rock these last years in order to not be aware that people were pissed with the offline portion. I doubt that a company like Bungie would purposely make the same mistake twice.

I also don't want to see poorly synced cutscenes with character models that look like they're made of shiny plasticene either. Squaresoft and Namco did better CG on the PSX. Those unforgivably bad Halo 2 cutscenes ruined the experience. If they can't do them inhouse, then job them out to someone who can. LOL

I was having that discussion today actually. I'm a Mouse/Keyboarder for my FPS dollar, but I have no doubt that plenty of players have been using the analog nubs for long enough to compete with me on their turf.

I'd still say, if you have two absolute experts in the genre with equal skill sets, the Keyboard/Mouser would win in most showdowns just for the ability to turn faster. But outside of that, the gap has narrowed significantly.

The point is anyone who things playing FPS games on a PC makes you better at something than the people who play FPS games on a console can go fist themselves. Anyone who would instantly write off a FPS console game simply because they can't use a keyboard and mouse on it can go fist themselves. Not interested? Fine. Does that make it a bad game? Absolutely not, it just makes you a complete tool for even suggesting that notion, like whoever I quoted in my first post.

As for Halo 2 being "bad," I wonder how anyone can say that with a straight face. By no stretch of any imagination or in relation to any other remotely similar game is Halo 2 bad, in any respect. The controls are solid, the game mechanics are absolutely stellar, the multiplayer is an absolute blast, and the story is excellent. Why? Because it sets up what is likely going to be the most epic FPS game ever. There are tons of unanswered questions, but saying the ending of Halo 2 was bad is like saying the enting of The Two Towers sucked. Neither of them ended, they're simply installments in a greater scheme.

Someone actually said the level design of Halo 2 was inferior to Halo? Christ, how do you get by in life? Library, anyone? Confused by the Halo 2 level design? Are you just picking a random aspect of the game and saying it sucked because it's in Halo 2?

Like the cutscenes. Really, that actually bothered you? How about you go ahead and add up the amount of time it takes to load the cutscenes, and then load the portion of the game after the cutscenes. Go ahead and do it, I'll wait.

I'm guessing your total comes to zero seconds. That's brilliant design, as most of here agree in saying that load times are the anti-christ, something this game has completely removed. Aside from loading your save, you won't see another load screen until you either finish the game or quit to play multiplayer. The only remenants of loading you'll see is texture pop-in on the cutscenes while the game continues to load the next level in the background.

If you've been disappointed by Halo 2, thats fine, but don't blame Bungie for creating a "bad" game, blame yourself for hyping it up to be something it could never live up to. Halo 2 is a great game by any objective standards, something anyone who says it blows is obviously incapable of having.

And I'm far from a Halo fanboy. I didn't play the first one until it was released on PC, and I enjoyed it. It was pretty good, but the second one took everything the first one was and made it so much better. I didn't have 3 solid years to build up the sequel to the game, I only had 6 months or so. I was looking forward to it and got exactly what I expected: an absolutely stellar title.

If you haven't played it since then and you've been shitting on it for the past year and a half, I suggest you go back and play it. You'll find an absolutely great game that you weren't expecting because you've been spouting trash about it. Or just wait for Halo 3, your expectations will be so low and they'll deliver such a high quality game you'll be blown away.

I watched it but I do have to say meh it wasn't that good I do however think the ending was 100x better than Halo 2.

I still look forward to the 4 player co-op, it should be pretty good.

Thats not the whole ending. Just like what happened in Halo 2, theres talk that there is more after the credits. The video doesn't really tell us much since we're missing a whole shitton of the rest of the backstory and numerous characters plot lines are not wrapped up there.

I "think" the game will have 10 different levels with 24 "chapters" :) and will take only 6-8 hours to complete on 2 player co-op on normal difficulty.

I look at it as an event that is why I get excited. I think i will be getting the 69.00 although the 129.00 looks sweet. I truly believe if it was 99.99 that would have made the ultimate pricepoint and would have sold like gangbusters.

I initially was getting overwhelmed by the pimping then after thinking I said well once every 3yrs they gotta recoup somehow.

Unless your TV is verrrry large (>72") and you sit closer than 9 feet or it's 60" and you sit 5 feet away, you will not notice any difference between 720p and 1080p. You cannot physiologically discern the resolution difference since your vision will not be able to see pixel structure past 720p (except if you qualify for the first two conditions).

So why 1080p? As always, MARKETING.
