I tried it out and it powers up okay, but I don't want to take any chances on frying it or something before getting the word from some of the experts here.

Thanks!

I use one for my toploader NES with no problems. I actually use a Genesis RF switch and power supply for my NES.

I switched the same power adapter between the two and I think an SMS as well for quite some time without any problems. I don't remember which power supply it was even for, or if it was an aftermarket. While I can't imagine you'll have a problem, if you somehow did, at least it is one of the cheapest/easiest to find systems to replace. Unless it is a top-loader I guess.

I asked the very same question about a year ago. No problems. I use a Genesis power supply and RF switch with my NES so I can change between them. Works fine. Just don't try an NES power adapter in a Genesis. The reverse isn't safe.

Every aftermarket power supply I've seen states it works for both the NES and Genesis, so this is a common practice.

I've used lots of different 9V supplies with an NES. AC or DC doesn't matter, and neither does polarity. Just make sure it provides enough amps (850MA or more--I usually use a 1 amp supply). Just keep in mind the NES is very unique in this regard and most other systems DO care.

Doesn't it matter which model Genesis power supply you use or are they all the same?

Pretty sure you can only do this with a Model 1 Genesis power supply, the 1602 ones.

I use a NES RF Switch for my Model 1 Genesis... Never had any problems there... Every Genesis RF Switch I come across seems to have a loose connection...

Don't use a NES adapter on the SMS, my brothers learned that the hard way.

I've used my Megadrive power supply here in the UK on a US NES without issue... so I guess it works across the board!

As long as the voltage output is correct and the tip polarity is correct you can use it for anything.

AC power supply+DC-powered system=Dead DC-powered system

I always switch the power cord around between my NES and GEN. I use a model 1 genesis I dont think you can use the model 3, i'm not sure about the model 2.
