Agree/disagree? It just seems to me this genre holds up well over time...alot of smaller print runs for the more obscure games also. Discuss! :D

the Bubble Bobble and MegaMan series seem to hold their value pretty well.

Yes, RPG's as a whole tend to hold their value the most. They have a moving story that the player connects with and remembers, and they're still a fairly niche genre in USA.

Shooters (particularly 2-D) tend to hold their value pretty well :D

Exactly what I was going to say. In fact, I'd say shmups are the king in this area. Don't believe me? Check out the prices on eBay in the Saturn and PC Engine area.

Yeah, i think RPG“s too, and here in Argentina, there is an obsession for FPS (Counter strike is the best for all people here, but not for me :( ).

any game that had sequals will have a following to some extent. i think RPGs hold a special place because they are games that really suck you in for long periods of time. i dont really play a lot of RPGs but when i do i get more involved in them than i do with other genres. i guess thats what led me to track down miracle warriors online, and thats the high value part, lots of guys like me willing to pay the money to go back into that "world".

Konami's Bemani series seems to have won itself instant longevity. The prices you have to pay for some of the imports are outrageous. Argh, I want Guitar Freaks...

By the way, I've put more hours into DDR, Guitar Freaks, Drummania, Beatmania, and others than I've put into all the RPGs that I own combined.

I think shooters and RPGS are both up there, and I rememebr Joe saying in T&T that RPGs are your best bet, while sports games are your worst. :/

RPGs ar eth ekind of games that can always suck you in with an involving story, intresting characters, fun events along the storyline and mini-games you can always return to to pass some time or get better at.

RPGs around here definitely, in general, hold their value. Because they're popular I find used retailers jack up their prices (some ridiculously so). SHMUPs have rarity more in their favour methinks, but, at least here, they're not as popular either.
