" Back when I was writing the column Q&A for the original EG in the early 80s, I always made it a practice to mail whichever reader sent me the best question each issue a Game Doctor Prize Packet. This was just a collection of gaming geegaws -- pens, temp tattoos, pins and other items bearing game logos and such -- but some of the most prominent people in today's game industry were among the winners and still tell me how much they loved getting these game treats.

Well, I've decided I want to do a new Q&A column once a month here on J2Games.com, and to prime the pump, whoever sends me the best question each month (deadline for the next installment is Halloween) will get a very special Retro Prize Packet that will include game magazines, pins, pens, logo mugs and more. Of course all questions are subject to being printed. So start scratching your heads, stroking your beards or whatever it is you do to generate a solid question. Or maybe there's something you've always wondered about? Now's the time to get it off your chest.

Send those Q's to gamedoctor@j2games.com and I'll get you the A's -- and maybe even that special Prize Packet.

Game on!

Anyone else see that thread title and think of game copying devices?

I did when I saw the shortened version of the thread title (Win a GAME DOCTOR Prize...) before entering the forum, but when I saw that it said "Prize Packet" I was immediately reminded of the packets the Game Doc used to mention giving out to readers who sent questions into his column. I never read Electronic Games way back in the day, but he still gave out the prize packets when he did his Q&A column in VG&CE and later briefly EGM in ther early 1990s when I did read game mags. I often dreamt of what sorts of amazing treasures could be included in those packets. I'll definitely be submitting a question or two for this. It would be especially cool if the packets had a lot of older stuff that's been sitting around for 15 or 25 years like what would have been in the original ones. I guess probably not, though. Sad face.

EDIT: Ooh, it does say "Retro Prize Packet," doesn't it. Happy face!

I know almost everything, so I don't have any questions, but awesome contest! I had no idea Bill did this all these years. Whoever wins, please report back here and tell us what you got!

I can pretty much guarantee that the majority of the packets will contain items at LEAST 10 years old with some items much older. So hey, even if you know the answer to a great question, the best Q still wins, so bring it on!

Here's my question.

While getting a routine checkup, your physician discovers a mystery tumor. After going over your x-rays, he looks up at you and says, "there's only one person who can save your life. It's ..."

Do you hope he says, "The Game Doctor", "Dr. Mario", or "Dr. Frankenstein"? Who has the best chance of saving your life, and why?
