I've had at least two fail (both third party) including the last one being a Mad Katz rectangular one. Has anyone else had bad luck with these things, or is it sometimes the result of using other "third party" controllers with them?

We've gotten a lot of use out of our first party multi-tap. When our 2nd fat PS2 started to DRE we traded it for a slim and had to get a third party adapter for the multitap to work on the slim. So far, no problemo. I have seen first party multitaps on clearence at Wal-Mart, although not many. Usually about $15.
