I'll take a guess and say X-Perts, Virtua Racing, or Zero Tolerance

I was under the impression that SSF2 actually is the biggest at 40.

AFAIK SSF2 is the biggest commercially released genesis game at 40 megabits...

Just did a cursory ROM check and chiming in to say that SSF2 is the largest. Lots of 32mbit games (in comparison), but only one 40mbit game (unless you're splitting hairs on regions, in which case 2).

I very seriously doubt that has anything to do with why it won't run for you in Gens+ (especially since I just double checked in Gens, Gens+, Fusion, and Gens9z for shits n grins). Are you sure you have the country code set properly? Setting it incorrectly will give you a red screen.

I got the US version to run..but not the Japanese version

I own a mac mini, and I can't get SSF2 to run in any of the Genesis emulators that run under OSX. I just get the red screen.

I had thought Phantasy Star IV was 40 megs, no? It certainly was the most expensive Genesis game.

Phantasy Star IV was actually only 24 megs. It was expensive because it had a (relatively) high budget and long development time.

Super Street Fighter II uses bank switching, that old technique from the VCS days. The Genesis maxes out at 32 megabits without bank switching, unless I'm mistaken.

How about it terms of size?

Miracle Piano or Outback Joey?

How does bank switching work on SSF2 on the Genesis

We are aiming at 64 MBit with Tavern RPG; if 32 MBit won´t be enough, that is.
But so far, SSF II is definately the biggest.

Now might be a good time to start using either a more up to date version of Gens or using Kega Fusion.

It doesn't help that the Genesis emulators available for MacOSX are ridiculously out of date and poorly maintained. Tons of games have issues and trying to report any of the issues will result in being ignored and having your bug report deleted/closed out. At least Shadowrun and Shining Force work without any game breaking issues...but yea...

I'm interested in seeing how Tavern RPG pans out. If the writing is half as good as Awful Fantasy then I'm totally buying a copy.

Thats what happens when you use roms with an incorrect checksum.

Please use only roms with (!) signs in their name. that means theyre verified.

The ROM with the exclamation point does the same thing.
