I used to install these for a short while but can no longer find them anywhere. I havn't even seen any on ebay in ages. I really like the wider feel of the original gameboy advance but would really like a light in it. Does anyone know of anywhere or anybody that might might still have some of these? Or even any good alternatives?

I wonder would it be possible to put the guts of an SP in an original GBA? I know trickier things have been done...

$10!
Even with shipping from HK, that's a bargain!

I'm 99% sure that is a knock off, though it may work just fine. Last I checked they were going on ebay for $50+. Not to mention the originals were certainly more than $10, and I know that mine (bought from the source) didn't come with precut wires that were way too long.

Ah. Wasn't aware that there was even the possibility of a HK knockoff!
I never installed one (I used the Halo screen light on my GBA...which was pretty good except it caused the link cable port to not function properly...even though it included a pass-through link port) so I couldn't recognize whether or not that's how they looked.
For $10, it might be passable.

Bank Transfers or Western Union payment only.
Methinks I'll pass.

HK? Who wouldn't trust one of the military's weaponry suppliers? ;)

I worked(for a very short time) for portablemonopoly.com who was installing them professionally. I think he bought them directly from TritonLabs and was looking for a manufacturer to skip the middle man but couldn't find any. Then about a week later Nintendo released the SP and I no longer made $20 an hour. Now I search for electronics parts and manufacturers for a living and I couldn't find anything that will work. I'm pretty sure that Triton Labs paid some company in China to mass produce them. They'd come to really cheap per unit but you'd have to buy like 10,000. Back then it would have been worth it but now I just want one.
It's funny...when I was searching a couple months ago I couldn't find anyone still selling them and now after just doing a google search I came across the site you listed above. It does look tempting but I think I might wait.

Side question
Were these made for the NGPC and if so are they available. I have a nyko light that hooks up to the NGPC. Would rather have back light though

You might check out this site I came across...

It seems I've answered my own question. I just wish they were cheaper.
These are actually "frontlights", a thin wegde of plastic with leds along the edge thats placed on top of the screen. For the GBA you had to drimel out some of the plastic from the case to get everything to fit propperly, I'm not sure what would be involved for the NGPC.

I highly recommend the forum member XianXi's NGPC frontlight mod. All you need is your NGPC and an original GBASP to take the frontlight from, and you can pay him to mod it for you. I got mine and I love it.

Is the frontlight in an SP easily removable? I was under the impression that it was built into the screen. If not then that's a great idea. It shouldn't be too hard to get a busted SP for cheap. I've gotten stuff like that for next to nothing off craigslist before. It could probally be cut to size to work with most other(smaller) screens as well.

The original SP uses a front light, making it very similar to the afterburner in how it works. The newer, brighter SP's use a back like that isn't removable so you need to have the first generation SP. I know XianXi even made a tutorial on how you can do the NGPC frontlight mod with the SP1 light yourself, I'm not sure where it is located though.

I have done the mod a couple times, its just awsome!
before this, I bought a system from Mashmods; his work is fantastic, but the Afterburner is garbage, its all washed out - and in my opinion - make the system unplayable.
