That was pretty sweet...I do believe I have to make a little write up though.
First off, I want to thank achika for providing the transportation. So with that, writeup.

The ride there was pretty neat. Some sweet tunes were bein played, I had a coughing fit (I was sick, if anyone hadn't gathered), we stopped off at toys-r-us by cedar point and I found Mr. Driller for game boy. Ironically, her magazine she bought took longer to check out then that did.

So we got to the park. I proceeded to eat breakfast, consisting of an overpriced and overgreasy cheeseburger and a pepsi, while the rest of the dp crew showed up (a number was already there). A few pictures were taken, and then it was decided to go on the Millenium Force. Now, I'm by no means a big coaster aficiando, and had I any idea how big this damn coaster was, I probably wouldn't have gotten on. But the line was short, and I figured it couldn't be too crazy. So I went on, and proceeded to enjoy a nice bout of rubber legs.
Well, at that point everyone decided to go on the mantis, but I, valuing my nuts, decided to opt out, and check out various hotties that wandered around (I only saw 4 girls with snider-worthy racks) with bizounce.
500 years later, everyone got back from the ride, and some pizza and ice cream later, a group went to ride the blue streak (which I joined in), followed by the arcade there. I will say this much-the machines may not be in the best shape, but I WANT that Gunfight. I went 1 loss-1 draw-1 win in that game, playing against a couple people. Eventually, we all split up, to meet back at the magnum at 7. Me and biz wandered the park for a bit, rode the iron dragon or whatever the hell its called, and then, deciding that we probably didn't have time to ride much else (maybe if we hadn't wandered the park for a damn half hour!), met up at the magnum, which everyone else went on, but I, partially out of a distinct dislike for the ride, and partially because I needed to go to the bathroom REALLY bad, sat out. A half hour wait seems really short when you spend a good chunk of that on the can, let me tell you.
So around this time, we go on the raptor. Now, because I told achika that no matter what I thought of the ride, I was going to tell her it was trash, I'm gonna say now, that it was trash. Am I lying? Or am I serious? You'll never know! BWAHAHAHAHAAA!
At some point we wandered through the haunted path. First time through I didn't really get approached more then twice, the first by a man who damn near ran into me, and secondly by some woman who I think I scared more with my Evil Face(patent pending). 2nd time through, I took it to them, by mimicing Foodle Spanes the whole time, and trying to sell one of the guys insurance. You'd think a demon would WANT insurance though-what if one of those people was drinking some holy water, got scared, and splashed it on him? He'd be glad he'd have it then, but no, he wasn't buying.
Luckily for everyone in the car, I had lost my voice from talking so damn much at the park, so I couldn't bug them with inane commentary on the way back. Darn :(

A good time, it was indeed. Anyone who took photos, could you send them over to me? Use my email below. Thanks!

I've got a few pics I'll send over. I had a blast!!!! It was great to finally meet some fellow board members and everyone was cool as hell!!!

We had a group of 12 which included 8 DP board members:

Achika
Bizounce
Ubersaurus
Bargora
Kid Fenris
Wizdawg
Oobgarm

and me...

and as Ubersaurus said we started it off with the BIG ONE!!! Millenium Force. we got lucky and caught a short line. The Dragster had a 2 1/2 hour wait so we missed out on that one. I was there Friday night as well and DID get on it though. it's short... 15 seconds... but DAMN!!! what a rush.

the arcade was cool, Bizounce put on an impressive DDR display and Wizdawg won a GBA SP, what a prize!!! congrats again man!

It really was a great time and I hope we do it again next year.

It was teh fun. And I love the hot-dog-on-a-stick!

The Arcade Report:

In the arcade I learned that I am, at best, no better than KidFenris at Virtua Fighter 2 (as determined in Sarah vs. Sarah matches--Yahoo!). And while I briefly thought I had mad skillz at Section Z (a game I've never seen before), Wizdawg quickly proved that I was a mere flash in the pan. Also, Oobgarm scares me with his Street Fighter skills. I dared not challenge him.

But I got the high score at Star Castle! And I don't think any of the forum members there beat my high score at Robotron that day (a mere 130,00). I then watched as some guy came within a stone's throw of 400,000. Holy Crap. And this was in spite of the fact that the right stick sometimes refused to fire to the left. @_@ He told me afterward that he hadn't played the game in 15 years.

On the DL: Turbo, Defender, Stargate, and a bunch of other great games.

Total congrats to Wizdawg who somehow beat the "Lighthouse" machine and made it cough up a GBA SP. I am convinced that those machines are crooked, but he won through in the end.

--------------------------

While I had met KidFenris (a gentleman and a scholar) in person before, I hadn't met anyone else from the forum. Oobgarm seems to me like he could be a secret agent or superspy or something like that--maybe it was the sunglasses. Bizounce and Ubersaurus are both madmen, although Bizounce seems more of the "happy-go-lucky evil genius" type while ubersaurus is more of a straight-up "mad scientist". Wizdawg, as it turns out, lived in the same dorm that I did for a year back in our undergraduate days at Case Western Reserve U. ten years ago; So of course he is a gentleman of taste and style! Den68 is a jolly fellow, and I was finally disabused of my misguided notion that he is from Denmark. And Adrienne was as nice and down-to-earth in person as she is in the forums--and her tattoo (the one I saw) was impressive!

So I had a great time meeting all of the attending forum members and their associated friends and family. Somebody (Oobgarm?) pointed out that there should be a springtime DPKI (Digital Press King's Island) meeting as well, and I concur! Ohio may be a polluted, underemployed, rust belt state, but man, we have got the roller coasters! I hear that there's an arcade there, too...

That is a GREAT group shot.

I can't wait to get the photos and official write-up (where are ya, Oobgarm?), that will be a news item highlight this week. Sounds like great fun - hopefully some of you will make it out to Chicago to Sean Kelly's thing next weekend and I'll meet up with you there.

I'm up for a spring DPKI, must... ride... son of Beast!!!!

I don't think I played one game in the arcade I spent the whole time trying to win a stuffed Knuckles from one of those grabber machines. between friday and saturday I got Batman, Superman, Spongebob's Pineapple house, Animal and Dr. Bunson Honeydew but Knuckles eluded me. ah well.

Looks like everyone had a great time, and for this, I am justified. Glad to see DPCP03 was a great success.

And where am I at this very moment? On the endourology sales floor, having just left a very interesting conference on bladder infections and transitional cell carcinoma. I fly back home tomorrow night at which point I wanna see more pictures dammit!

Oh, tonight I get to talk to one of our medical board members about new treatments for advanced prostate cancer. Coasters and games or a Canadian weiner con? Ugh, guess where my loyalties *really* lay?

Talk to everyone tomorrow. I just had to sneak a few moments on the laptop to see how Saturday went.

If you haven't checked lately, take a peek at the gallery and write-up of this event:

Better still, check out the main Digital Press page... this is the first time the FORUM members have made the news.

Extra thanks to Kid Fenris for the "people pictures"... as well as the column was written, it needed a few more of these, which in my opinion makes the event much more personal to our community here.

Game ON, all.
