Count me as another who would like to see this thread continue into 2009. This is one of the threads I really look forward to seeing have updates. Plus, it reminds me that I really should visit the store more often. It's not like I live that far away...

I too will miss this thread but I can understand why you'd want to stop.

I'd love to see weekly updates even if you won't be doing daily ones anymore.

Thanks for taking your time to do this for so long, Joe. It's been an interesting thread to follow..

This thread was the most interesting thing on the site to me. I hate to see it go.

this tread was indeed intresting. Btw: Joe since you are stoping this tread would you mind if I pm you a few games I need, and if they get traded in you could let me know?

Thanks

It's funny how even though we've been in business for three years there are still local people "finding out about us". A young couple clearing out space in their storage facility brought the first in what looks like it's going to be several loads of really quality stuff.

SNES Game Lot (various) - A really nice bunch of games in various states of completeness included Chrono Trigger (loose), Final Fantasy II (complete), Super Metroid (complete but bad box), Zelda LttP, Super R-Type and more.

NES Game Lot (complete) - Ah, people who saved their boxes and manuals. Pretty good stack of games, the best of which were Metroid, Super Mario 3 and Super C.

Virtual Boy Mario Clash (complete)

Genesis Castlevania Bloodlines (complete)

Game Boy Link's Awakening (complete)

Game Boy Metroid 2 (complete)

Yesterday (the year's final NAVA):

Genesis Joshua (loose) - Huzzah for obscure bible games!

Atari 5200 Multi-Cart - To be returned to Sean Kelly. I'm sure he'll get a kick out of his earliest work. This thing's pretty old.

Atari 2600 Communist Mutants From Space (new) - Not actually traded in on this day, but traded in at some point this year and forgotten, then discovered in the basement on this day.

SNES Bronkie the Brontosaurus (complete) - Interesting. I've never seen this before, it's been moved to my personal collection temporarily.

Atari Jaguar Tempest 2000 (new) - Factory sealed.

Atari 2600 Beat 'Em and Eat 'Em (new) - Factory sealed.

PS1 Lunar 2 Eternal Blue (new) - The "complete" set. You know, that big fat box with a bunch of stuff inside.

Today:

N64 Game Lot (loose) - Included two copies of Mario Kart (thank you), as well as Zelda Ocarina, Zelda Majora's, Starfox, and a dozen others, mostly really good stuff.

GameCube DDR Mario Mix - Nearly complete, just missing the box.

Mr. Driller Plush - 5-inch tiny version. Cool!

GameCube Pikmin 2 (new) - Factory sealed.

PSP Dragon Quest & Final Fantasy in Itadaki Street Special (complete) - Interesting Japan-only crossover board game.

PS1 Tokimeki Memorial Premium - A large box of stuff that seems to be missing a few items, I'll have to do some research. Seems to be one of those dating sims.

PS1 Elemental Gearbolt (loose)

Though i imagine it's a bit of a hassle to run the updates on this thread all the time it does get me thinking about going into the store whenever i see something cool on here that i want. Unfortunately I've been on this saving money and getting a running car kick for a month or two so i haven't been collecting too much recently.

That factory sealed Beat 'Em and Eat 'Em was quite nice. Glad to see you picked it up Joe.

At least you won't have to worry about stains with a sealed copy!

Me too..

Atleast if anything, done on a end of week basis..

Already in the last few trade in posts I see things traded in that I have been looking for..
Makes me want to go up to the store and buy something..Though I don't collect like I used to this thread makes me want to again..
Also after seeng what was traded in gives me ideas of trading in things I have the sane of that I don't use..

Such as a Vectrex system..I have two..One I don't use and the other has it's box..
Seeing a Vectrex traded in gets the thought in my head to go trade one in..

I love the thread I think it was a Great Idea to create it..

Final entry to this 2008 project. Don't let it ever be said that I can't keep a New Years' resolution!

The final days of 2008 brought nothing really special but after the welcome whirlwind of sales in the days just before and after Christmas we were looking to re-stock.

WII System (complete) - Two of them in one day, one complete in the box. These are the only two Wii's we have in the store other than the actual store unit.

PSP System (loose) - Two of these in one day as well. Right after Christmas there were a bunch of trade-ins where clearly there was a "changing of the guard" in what games people were going to play. I think the Wii trade-ins were customers who had just got a 360 for Christmas. The PSP trade-ins were new DS owners.

NES Games Lot (loose) - Our NES shelves really got sacked over the holidays. We sold a lot of those Retro Duos and the new Yobo FC3's and completely sold out of refurbished NES systems. So when someone comes in with a great big box of loose NES games and you can see Super C, Super Mario 2 and 3, Castlevania at the top, the timing couldn't be better.

SNES Games Lot (loose) - Same guy as above, a smaller but impressive selection of games including Breath of Fire, Mario Kart, Mega Man X, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, Super Ghouls & Ghosts, Super Mario World, etc.

SNES Chavez II (loose) - I think the first time we've had this one in the store.

The ending of this post does lead to an interesting questions, Joe what is this year's resolution?

Is there going to be any sort of analysis or break-down?

So what's your "take away" from all of this? Were trades what you expected or any surprises?

Thursday, January 3rd:
PSOne w/LCD - not too many trade-ins on this day but one stand-out was a very nice practically new PSOne system with the LCD. To top it off, the guy had a PSOne carry case. It may take me awhile to figure out a good way to package this stuff. This was a guy about my age with kids, they've moved on to PS3 and this system had become obsolete in their home.

is this really worth that much?

I have one (PS1 with LCD) and i have a PS1 carrying case (boxed... very very poor condition box) (brand new though) and i grabbed this for a quarter during the summer @ some game store in the states

I'd like to compile the entire thread into one great big entry. This is something I'd like to add as an appendix to the next "Classic Gaming" Collector's Guide (which should be my 2009 resolution - get it done).

I'd like to do more blogging, "stories from the store" stuff but I refuse to make MySpace my home for this. I've been holding out hope that the DP site would get this feature but it's not looking so good.

Maybe an "awkward moments" thread. There are a lot of those as well, usually created by my often overly literal interpretation of "English" (as spoken by Clifton locals). Dunno... might be February before a real 2009 project kicks in.

I've read every post in this thread all year and will truly miss it. Living where I do, with no decent videogame stores except the big chains, it's great to read about trade-ins that aren't 360 or Wii.

You don't get a lot of TG16 or Saturn trade-ins at Game Stop anymore....

Thanks for keeping me entertained for 2008!

Definetily was a thread to stop and read.

Not only was it fun to read what was traded in, but your explanations of the actual people who traded the stuff and your opinions on the matter were the best.

Human nature is always an intriguing/interesting thing. Thanks. :D

Gizmondo Lot (complete) - No system, but eight complete games.

(complete)

Seriously? Someone brought in 8 Gizmondo games? Crazy!

That was me. I acquire a lot of weird stuff (usually for free). I wanted to pick up a Gizmondo to try them out, but the price of admission was too high. I'm facing the same issue with 30 N-Gage titles I just "lucked" into. Anyone care to rent me a system?
