View Full Version : NAVA Gamers Meeting, February 23rd
digitalpress
02-07-2008, 12:21 PM
Most of us are just catching our breath from the January NAVA, which left the store much like the end of a tickertape parade. A Wii was given away. An XBox 360 was given away. There were live bands (in a manner of speaking) in the house. If you missed it you can catch up with the photos and video here:
http://www.digitpress.com/images/store
February promises to be another exciting time, we're debuting a new tournament cartridge and have lots more to give away. These unannounced tournaments will be held at 6pm and 9pm respectively. If you think you're a good gamer and can match up with anyone on something neither of you has played, this could be your moment.
We're expecting new guests from www.screwattack.com who will hopefully bring along some interesting games to trade.
See ya all there. Here, that is.
When: Saturday, February 23rd, noon to midnight.
Where: Digital Press Videogames: http://tinyurl.com/yscakm
What: Gaming, trading, tournaments, big prizes!

It is looking like we are going to have many newcommers to this meeting, and if luck shines on me....quite possibly a rare Saturn game.

i cant edit my last post, so i'll say it here
PBC Productions is coming down, which is Captain S!
All that I know now, is that Brett, Devon, and Chad will be coming down. Maybe Maximo as well.
I have spoken to The Angry Video Game Nerd through e-mails constantly. and he said that he wrote the date down on his calander, and he said he will get into contact with me if he is coming or not.
ScrewAttack g1's are coming down, which is awesome. I know they will love the store.
stay tuned!

I got it in my calendar I will definately try to make it but what would be the best time frame?

I suggest 5-9. You would be able to get pizza, be at the height of attendance, and maybe catch a tournament or two.

And I don't exactly have "hitchhiker" legs.

Yeah, so instead of sticking out my thumb, I'll hold out a Colecovision joystick, and see if anyone who is attending this event stops along side the road and says "Hey, you're going to NAVA, aren't ya? Hop in"
I'll check for buses.

I've given up promising to attend as I never end up knowing what is going to happen last minute with work or my family. One of these months the stars will align and I will get back to a meeting. At this point only some of the old time members will remember me anyway.

Not sure about a direct route from Brooklyn but from Port Authority in Manhattan you want the 190 line:

Trying to find where the bus gets off that I can just walk to the place in question. It says the bus stops at Dellawanna at Boll St. Tryin to find that on the map so I know where to go. It's probably right in front of me and I'm missing it.
Suggestions?

Looking over the info now, thanks.
Curious. Would I be allowed to film in the store? I think it'd be great to film some stuff for a future VMTV episode, and considering the people who are talked about being there (screwattack, AVGN, PBC, etc), I would love to talk to all of them. I am big fans of all three, and I believe screwattack knows who I am...more or less. hehe

for ScrewAttack, its the users
Tom and Craig arent coming, just the g1's cause i made a thread about how cool the store was and when to come down to the next event. I've counted how many users from SA are going, over 15
anyways, my friend is going to be taking video, yes, you can take video because at the last NAVA, my friend was, and you can get video of me and other ScrewAttack g1's if you would like, love being on camera. haha. once our video is done were gonna send it to SA.
PBC is gonna be there, only half of them, i know Brett will be there
as for AVGN..well...we've been talking alot through e-mail and no response yet if hes coming or not. I will let you know if he is.

Yup, video is not only allowed, it's encouraged. Maryah and I are working on a "walk thru" video of the store for the site (and YouTube) which when completed should be the ultimate "you are there" video that should get fence-sitters who haven't made the trip finally take the plunge. Various links from YouTube only tie this all together and help us get word out cheaply! We've had quite a LOT of first-time visitors over the past month specifically mention that they found out about the store through YouTube... incredible!

No no, you misunderstand. By "first" I don't mean chronologically, I mean 'by commitment". Think of the Hall of Fame. Would Nolan Ryan be an Astros, Angels, or Rangers Hall of Famer? By the way, how fucked up is it that Ryan pitched over 5000 innings with over 200 complete games in his career? You'll never see that again.
Back to the topic at hand. Answer: Retrogaming Roundtable.

Broad & Allwood isn't close at all, if you're on foot.
Over at the NJ Transit website there is an Itinerary Planning tool. It suggests leaving Port Authority on the 190 (Paterson). I plugged in that the desired arrival was 6pm, and the page lists a bus departing the terminal at 4:48pm. The bus arrives at the corner of Main Ave and Piaget Ave at 5:34pm. (Across the street from White Castle!)
From there, it's just a few blocks (0.36miles, according to the page) to DP.
Bus Fare: $4.40

Absolutely. You want 190, it's just a long block away (1/4 mile) and by far the nearest bus stop. If you click on the little link on the first post of this thread (next to "where") you'll get a Mapquest map. The 190 line stops at the corner of Main and Piaget.

For those who are interested, I was doing some cleaning, and I uncovered a pretty huge stack of "oprhaned" complete PS1 game jewel cases in my studio, including some rare ones.
Einhander
Vagrant Story
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
Point Blank 2
Guilty Gear
Elemental Gearbolt
Ace Combat 2 & 3
MGS 1 (NON-greatest hits w/foil press logo)
MGS VR Missions
Buster Bros. Collection
Bubble Bobble
Worms Armageddon
Omega Boost
(too many commons to list)
I'll be bringing them to the meeting and letting the commons go for next to nothing (say $.50 each?), and at a superly reasonable price for the rares ($1 each?).
Get there early if you want to clean me out on all of them - any leftovers will be donated to Joe so he can have less shelf space downstairs and/or move some of those disc-only useds out of the bargain section.

LOL thanks man. I'm sure we got more supporters and fans than haters. The haters want their reviews to be part Jackass, or they want the reviewer to be screaming and yelling. Now I'm a fan of the Angry VG Nerd. I got his DVD, though I wish it was the original videos and not the edited ones we, as fans, got. Now I don't mind when James bitches about a game. He's still able to convey intelligence, unlike the rest of these losers who yell into their webcam mic and it hurts your ears.
For you fans, I have reason to believe this episode, since it is a 13th year Anniversary episode, this one may be almost an hour. A lot of content to be had. I have only done a small portion of the editing, but with just the skit, and my opening, we got 6 minutes so far, not counting the games. hehe.

I don't really have any games to sell or trade. As I said on SA, I lost a lot of my games in a house fire so I'm busy going through the new basement looking for which games I still have and trying to figure out which ones I need.
The only games I can think of are Spikeout: Battle Street for the Xbox, Chaos Legion for the PS2 and that's about it.
Also, anybody planning on brining Smash Brothers Brawl? I don't know if anybody has an import or burned copy to play. I wish I could hop into the DeLorean and bring one back with me to play with everybody.

If I can make it I already have a huge load of stuff for sale ready to go. No mystery on prices, there's a $1 box, a $5 box, a $10 box, and a $20 box. If you collect Playstation long box games you're going to be happy.
Intriguing!
I've never seen a "$20 box"... from a collector, that sounds like the box I want to see first.
Hope you can make it! What are YOU looking for these days?
