I have a Gameboy Flash Reader/Writer, and a program called "GB ghost camera" that actually can rip the raw photo files from the GB camera.

I'm not sure if it works on vista, but I believe that I could get it running on my old XP system.

If you ever run into a used original gameboy Bung flash cartridge reader/writer at a decent price, snag it and you'll be able to dump your photo files directly to your drive.

I know there are mods and equipment out there that can get the photos off of the Game Boy Camera directly, but to me that is too much effort when you can just get a composite/s-video T.V box for your PC, attach your Super Game Boy to said box, and extract the photos like that. I actually have a Dazzle Digital Video Creator 80 for my computer which is a basic composite/s-video converter for the PC but, surprise surprise, it is does not work on my new Vista laptop and my XPs are all out of service or close to it. So until I get a new T.V box of some sort you all have to cope with my ghetto approach in getting the pictures off my camera :(. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Thanks again, Joe for running such a lovely event! I was not really participating in any of the major events at the latest Nava like the Brawl tournament or the move watching going on in the basement. I was very happy to see that as soon as I came to the event I saw and talked to many recognizable faces even though his is only my second NAVA. I felt very welcome and comfortable even though I was in the background the whole time. I hope to be able to bring my HD monitor or one of my smaller T.Vs over to one of the future NAVAs and bring some games for some people to play since I am a better contributer than a participant at large gatherings. Does anyone want to be bothered with Bemani games [I have a plethora of them for my Japanese PS2, like Pop'n Music, Keyboardmania, Beatmania IIDX, and the Japanese version of DDR Extreme]? We already killed Rock Band and I know Taiko no Tatsujin was brought to a previous event [which I own also with two drums] so there may not be a huge reason to bring any of them along...

I love being able to use the internet cafe computers for free. My friend from Avenel, NJ and I took full advantage of that throughout the whole time we were there. Playing Dawn of War and Warcraft III against someone sitting right next to you is much better than playing online. I also equally loved that Last Blade 2 was put back on the Neo Geo cabinet. Classic sword fighting at it's best!

No problem man, just saw that you really enjoyed using the GBC ... I love mine too, been a while since I busted it out though.

I have the Bung XChanger shown there, and the program I spoke of ... but WOW that Mad Catz link looks awesome ... I'll have to keep my eye out for that.

But, hey there's certainly no shame in doing it via a Super Gameboy!

Do I hear some love for a Last Blade tourney, perhaps? Though, if the AVGN shows up again, we should have a special tourney in his honor. Justice League Task Force, anyone?

The VERY few pictures I took, was too busy helping with the tournament and playing Williams Pinball Classics.

Nice job. Thanks for co-hosting the Brawl tournament, that made things run much quicker. Thanks also for making my photo blurry in your gallery there - that's the way I'm meant to be viewed!

Thanks for the pictures. I tried viewing the store webcam but it was faced in the wrong direction and then someone put a red plastic cup in front of it for most of the night. Those joystick brownies look really cool.

Scott, we didn't get to the secret Atari tournament this time, which of course has built up suspense. I think the April tournaments will be heavily Atari-centric because the elder NAVA members were looking for something old school last night. So you didn't really miss anything directly relevant on the webcam.

Everyone else: Scott (neotokeo2001) has designed some very nice 2600 tournament games that you may have seen in January and February. The latest game is really REALLY cool though. It just didn't fit into March's schedule and did not deserve to be a "late night extra" in my opinion. We'll have some fun with this in April.

So here is my write up about the event, straight from my MySpace Blog, so it has been copied and pasted:

<snip>

I have dubbed thee "DP Store Ambassador", now official, I see :)

Great work again at getting new faces into the mix.

Hey all, it's Brett from PBC Productions. First time posting here, but just wanted to say hey, and that NAVA was a lot of fun yesterday.

What's up Captain S?

Great chatting with you yesterday, and I think we're on to something here as we create a bridge for two (or three, really) online communities to gather. By the way, I've just joined your forums as well.

Chad from PBC here.

Thanks to everybody who threw in for the tournament. Steph Prader (who runs Love for Devon (http://lovefordevon.wordpress.com/)) was on hand to collect the donations, and we were all really moved that so much had been given.

I love going to NAVA and geeking out once a month. It's very much like going to any vg con; there's great people, video games, and beer -> a winning combination! I had an awesome time, can't wait to go to the next NAVA. See you all in April!

Glad to see you again, brother. Hey, what was the total raised? I'm guessing somewhere around $200?

Frankie, those look like some epic brownies. Nice work! I wish I could have been there to try one.

They were absolutely epic. And the craziest thing is, each one of them actually worked! Well, mine was a little sluggish going left but I adjusted the brownie flavored boot and all was well.

It's nice to see some of you guys who visit the store creating forum accounts. As I've mentioned to some of you, I'm much better with handles than I am with real names.

Though I've learned that if I just call you Chris, I'm right 59% of the time.

I had a 17 hour day on Saturday and had to work again today so I'm a little beat. Just catching up but I should have my NAVA photos and a video or two online tomorrow. Stay tuned.

Is it a shame how common my name is? The only cool thing about my name is my last name, "King", since it gives the false appearance that I am leader of all Chris' wordwide for the day when we all rebel for reasons unknown. We all know you worked very hard at Nava, Joe, so next time I see you I will be sure to bring you some Bengay for your back which must be super tired and aching after you pulled that heavy Steel Battalion down for me. You are both the strongest and coolest gamer I know [*salutes*].

It was super nice talking to both of you! I was especially referring to the long talk me, you, and Jimmy had when I said I felt so welcome at the latest Nava even though it was only the second one I ever attended. It really is possible for us gamers to expand our horizons. I think I may cry [*tears stream down face to the theme of "This One's for the Children" by New Kids on the Block*].

A Last Blade tourney would be pretty cool for sure. Though take note some kid at Nava busted my little brown butt in Last Blast not once but twice meaning that fighting game tournaments may not too good for me even though I am competent at them. But hey, I should never be scared to try new things even if I suck at them :-P.

Lets do a Magicial Drop 3 tournament one day too. I love that game like you do not know [*hugs Sega Saturn copy that I own*].

Greg and I stopped by in the evening to get a feel for the NAVA meeting. It was our first time attending one, so we didn't really know what to expect. A bunch of people were really into the Super Smash Bros. Brawl tournament in the front of the store and a bunch of other people were selling and trading some classic goods in the back. There were also two people dressed as Mario and Luigi.

I traded in some NES games and bought Ghost Squad for the Wii, which is quite good. I also had a nice talk with Frankie. I didn't know people were watching a movie in the basement. Which movie was it?

Frankie, any luck selling the printer or will it make an appearance at the next meeting? :)

I've done some spring cleaning in my studio space ... this stuff is coming with me for trade/sale.

One semi-dead NES R.O.B. electrical works, but seems to not make a full rotation in his start up test. Cosmetically BEAUTIFUL and 100% complete with paper warning tabs on the spinners.

Frankie, It came to my attention as I was reading through the forum that I was looking for that at NAVA, I was over at where you were selling your stuff, wasnt sure where you were, and I didn't see a ROB. Was it already sold?

Semi-dead R.O.B. was the first thing to go - the moment I set up...which is strange, as I couldn't GIVE him away two or three NAVA's back.

Sorry!

I guess it's the wonders of being in a Smash Brothers game, just look at the Game and Watch.

Pictures from this month's event added. A tiny bit of video, too. See signature below!

Thanks again to the attendees, including our new partners over at PBC Productions and screwattack.com - the gathering gets bigger and better every month, that's good for everyone.
