Original post follows:

Those classic black shirts with the familiar "Van Halen" style logo on the front and historic system by year design on the back was originally released in the summer of 2005 and was designed by now-moderator "Dangerboy". It's time to get a new design put together in time for this summer, and you can help!

The Challenge: Think about what you would want to see on a shirt that would really COMPEL you to visit the website (or the store). The theme should be on-topic with our charter here (classic videogames), and in keeping with our heritage. It can be risque if need be.

You don't have to create any art (we should be able to fill that in), what we're looking for is a concept. A slogan, theme, or general "mock up" of the front and back of the shirt. For a glimpse at our last t-shirt, click HERE (http://www.digitpress.com/products/shirts.htm). Feel free to use any of the resources on this website as part of your design.

Of course, if you can DO the art it not only gets your point across better but saves us a step if you win, so it's certainly "bonus points" for you.

What's in it for you? The Roundtable community is our team, and teamwork is always rewarded here. If we use your theme, we'll send you your choice of either a complete (in box) PS2, XBox, or Dreamcast system with a pile of games. In addition to this, we'll throw in a copy of our upcoming (also hopefully summer release) DP Classic Collector's Guide and five t-shirts with your winning concept!

Some Hints! You might as well learn from the past. We've done this contest before. Perhaps you can improve on a previous idea or this might spark some ideas.

Become it. The IT on the back is in the DP font / DP red, Become in the standard font.

Reasoning behind shirt: Each "it" is a common old school action, whether it's booting / turning on the game, shooting, driving etc.

The repetition in using IT also helps the back of the shirt, since the letters are part of the site's name. DigITal Press / DiGIT Press. It's a small subliminal clue that attaches it self to "Become It" slogan.

I do screen printing part time in my basement and these would be no harder(and wouldnt cost any more) to print than a 2 color shirt on the chest.

I'm thinking the top pic would be on the front. I'm no artist - I tried to illustrate as many recognizable videogame logos as possible, being jumbled into a blender. Then, on the back, an image of the blender pouring the mixed concotion out, with the result being Digital Press.

A variant that would only require one image could be to replace the blender with some sort of comic-Dr. Seuss-style machine with a conveyor belt - all of the logos entering on one side, and the finished product being 'Digital Press'.

Many of the traditional logos are very colorful, and ideally the shirts would be full-color, but that's presumably much more costly to produce - I think this could work with just a couple of colors if necessary.

Thanks to the folks who said good things about the Butter Monster shirt, but to be honest I can't really see that as the "DP Uniform"; maybe more like the "Limited Edition" for forum regulars or something.

so far oobgarm has my vote, definitly digging the front design of the shirt. The back is awsome as well however I cant help but imagine how awsome it would looks with (Scaled down obviously) more controllers from all era's, the challenge is getting this across without it feeling too cluttered and still easy to make out. Also the text above "CLASSIC" seem either too small or the CLASSIC text seems too large.

That was the impression I got. There is potential for limited, rare, and out of print DP shirts.

If the shirt is to be strictly two colors like the last one, you could swap out the many images for maybe four large white outlined drawings of the most genre defining ones.

Alternately, you could have images / outlines be of the DPADs / iconic button of said four controllers, and the quotes would be "Every Gamer Controls Their Own Destiny" on the front, with "Here's Your Road Map." on the back.
