Heavenly Guardian Impossible to Find?

I preordered this PS2 game literally two months before it came out from Amazon and it looks like they never got any copies in stock as mine is still backordered. Buy.com had it for a week or so, but sold out. It is sold out everywhere else on-line and on Ebay the only copy I can find is a punch-out. Has anyone seen this in a brick & mortar store or know of an on-line retailer with it in stock?

It so happens that I got the game this morning from CD Universe. A week ago it was still available, but I checked and it is now out of stock. Sorry.

BTW, in case you are interested in the upcoming RC Mini Chopper for the PS2, Amazon doesn't take pre-orders for this game anymore. Might be the same situation as it is for Heavenly Guardian.

However, CD Universe takes still pre-orders for the game. So you might try that if interested. IF the game will be released, this way you're pretty safe to get it. (To give you an idea about the shipping charges, I paid $2.99 for Heavenly Guardian)

I usually avoid pre-orders like a cat avoids water, but with some of these quirky and not high in-demand very late releases you have to be careful.

That's odd. I pre-ordered mine from Amazon as well and got an email from them Monday saying it had shipped. Today I got another email informing me the price was lowered to $14.99 and I would get $5.00 refunded.

What's odd is that as of about three hours ago, they were saying it was available in 3-10 days. Now it says it ships right away. Combined with the fact that the other poster is claiming he got a ship notification from Amazon, I think it's possible that maybe other retailers are starting to get restock or their initial stock. I guess I'll just be patient and hope Amazon comes through.

They're promo copies. The most likely scenario here would seem to be that someone set up some fly-by-night review site or blog and sweet-talked their way into some review copies or something. Shit, half or better of all used CDs (and most "new" CDs bought from individual sellers) bought on Amazon are promo copies.

...I liked the two PS1 games R/C Stunt Copter (http://psx.ign.com/objects/010/010451.html) and RC Helicopter (http://psx.ign.com/objects/494/494583.html) (IGN game pic is wrong, the game has a different cover). They were a nice variety to the 'ususal' set up and game concept we get, and it was a nice challenge to get the controls right and solve some of the puzzles.

I didn't know about Rescue Copter, I think I'll get this one at some point. Thanks for the heads up.

Just got back from Gamestop where I found a copy. The one by my house didnt have it so I had to take a little trip to get it. I just now noticed the sleeve has a tear on the backside on the bottom right corner area. Also, I hate Gamestop's new way of putting the sticker price on the actual spine of the sleeve. Its nearly impossible to get all of it off. Oh well, im just happy I got the game.

Didn't Katamari eventually get a reprint after people caught on to it? Somehow, though, I don't think Heavenly Guardian is going to be a runaway hit. Gamestop should have taken pre-orders, though.

No, with Katamari Damacy EBGames was pretty much the only place to buy from. Gamestop wouldn't even allow you to preorder it and no one else really bothered to order any copies. Word of mouth on the game had spread pretty well prior to the US release and since EB was the only place to get it, everyone put their orders in there. It quickly became the best selling game of the month for EB (at least online where they published their top sellers for the month; they never ran into any shortages) and everyone else scrambled to play catchup.

I've played enough of it to get a first impression. A $14.99 game is hard to feel ripped off about, but I can certainly understand the price point. It is a sort of free roaming top down style game with a young girl using magic spells. It has a VERY strong Japanese flavor to it. The graphics are minimalist or simplistic enough to scream SNES. The sound effects got down right annoying, but that's just me. The enemies are thoughtless and only menacing in numbers. I did think the mummies throwing rolls of toilet paper at her was sort of funny.
You can't bypass the long-winded and rather boring intro, which struck me as something that was thrown together quickly or cheaply, but at least it's on a DVD and not one of those blue disks.

Yeah, that sounds a lot like Kiki-Kai Kai (aka Pocky & Rocky). I'm going to finally try it this morning.

If you haven't played Kiki-Kai Kai, it's available on Taito Legends 2 for the PS2, which is dirt cheap now, but it's a hella good value with 41 other games on it.

It was gonna be the kiki-kai game but then taito was bought out by sqaurenix.

So the publisher ufo had to change it for it's release.

Well, personally, I didn't know the game even existed but I've always had fun with the old Pocky and Rocky games. The "Impossible to find" part of the title did entice me to keep my eyes peeled just in case...but the $13.99 price tag with free shipping from Deepdiscount is what actually caused me to buy it. I think what's more interesting is seeing how many copies were distributed through Gamestop and related stores vs. Amazon and other online retailers. Because if Gamestop is gutting every copy they get...sealed ones might be a rarity even if the game itself isn't. I'm not one to speculate on those things regardless, but some might find it interesting.
