Heya, folks. I picked up a copy of Mario RPG tonight while out game shopping. Front of the case is pretty nice, the back is trashed tho'. I popped open a couple spare carts I had lying around and none of the back halves would fit with the SM RPG board.

I'm thinking maybe another game which used SA-1 chips might have a back half I can use with Mario RPG (the board takes up almost the entire case whereas many other SNES games can use as little as 25% of the case). Wikipedia has a list of what other SNES titles used SA-1 chips - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_SA-1#List_of_games_that_use_the_SA-1_chip If anyone has both a Mario RPG and another SA-1 game could you please pop them open to see if the back halves match up so I can snag another game with the same back half?

Big thanks!

As far as I know, the back shell of all snes carts are identical (except for Majesco re-releases). The only thing to note is that there is a stamp to tell you what revision the game is on the back label. If you are really anal, you can try and match up that stamp.

Unfortunately that's not the case (puns are awesome). Different boards have different heights and widths and need different shells to hold the board in place.

A friend of mine buys high priced games with bad backs and replaces them with sports backs. He is generally anal about his collection so I wonder if I should bring this topic up with him as I wasn't aware of what those stamps ment. Figured they were some serial number or refence number to where it was manufactured.

This SM RPG has a 19 stamped on the back label. I found a Wrestlemania Arcade Game with a 19 stamped on the back too, shells are different. Mario RPG has a the normal connector plus the additional wings on the side (four pins each wing).

I snapped a couple pics if that helps anyone find a similar cart.
