Garage sales sucked yesterday considering how much driving I did. Found a guy on CL selling a bunch of stuff, though not at the bargain basement prices I'm used to, I still got a lot of cool stuff mostly to keep. You want pictures? I got pictures. Sorry they are washed out.

This was a separate CL purchase: 30 for all (Spanky's Quest is for trade since I have two now, I'm told it is a great game, but haven't had a chance to play it yet.)
http://home.comcast.net/~evanwink/images/games/Finds/finds87a.jpg

The SNES, NES (w/ bag), and Genesis stuff were from the guy on CL: 130 for all.
http://home.comcast.net/~evanwink/images/games/Finds/finds87b.jpg
The games are: -Kinnikuman Dirty Challenger -Ranma 1/2 Ougijaanken -Armor Police Metal Jack -World Heroes -Zelda Link to the Past -Valis IV -Secret of Evermore -Thunder Spirits -Space Megaforce -Illusion of Gaia -Xardion

http://home.comcast.net/~evanwink/images/games/Finds/finds87d.jpg
Metal Storm and Hydlide are hard to read.

Thought this bag was cool. It will probably become my camera bag. Nice soft/padded sides.
http://home.comcast.net/~evanwink/images/games/Finds/finds87e.jpg

http://home.comcast.net/~evanwink/images/games/Finds/finds87f.jpg
Games: -Forgotten Worlds -Insector X -Rocket Knight Adventures -Castlevania: Bloodlines -Gain Ground

The e-reader and GBA games were tossed in as a nice little bonus. The multicart has Contra, cosmotank, Adventure island, yakuman?, space invaders, and some kirby game I don't understand. Those repeated, w/ maybe another.
http://home.comcast.net/~evanwink/images/games/Finds/finds87h.jpg

Then he also had this SuperGrafx, which I couldn't pass up for some reason. It was 95.
http://home.comcast.net/~evanwink/images/games/Finds/finds87g.jpg

Found these at Garage Sales. 15 for the Genesis (football games are washed out), 2 for Silent Hill 2.

Bunch of Genny/32X games with one Sega Saturn game with a Genny/32X combo. Got off Craigslist for the low price of free. I now have a game to play on my Saturn, and have a set of cords for my 32X!

Over the course of the week...I haven't found crap...and I work all weekend, so here are the few items I have obatined this week:

- Hot Shots Golf Out of Bounds = FREE (sony loyalty site) - traded it in for $30.80 and put it towards my Wii Fit reserve.

The others are:
- Zelda Link's Awakening DX
- Zelda Oracle of Seasons
Got them both for $3. Customer came in and had these titles to trade...being that we don't take GB/C anymore I offered him a few dollars and he happily accepted.

Sorry, no pictures this time as it really isn't worth the time and effort.

I went off looking for that new SNK compilation but couldn't find it...guess I'll have to mail-order it. So I settled for a copy of Rachet: Deadlocked instead.

Went to a couple Roger's this morning, the first one had BOGO on all games under 10 so I got Ratatouille(360) and Elebits which I've wanted for a long time so I'm really happy about that pick up.

Went to Value Village after that and picked up a N64 Transfer Pak, Zelda Oracle of Seasons, Mario Tennis(GBA) Pokemon Blue and Silver all for about 10 bucks.

Interesting couple of finds this week:

http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/1158/emptiesra0.jpg

Started with a set of Farscape DVDs at Goodwill $2.99 each, plus a Mattel handheld Soccer and Red Light, Green Light for .99 each.

Then found all of the pictured Xbox 360 titles for 10 cents each at a rummage...of course there were no game discs ;) , but everything else was there including manuals and the 48-hour gold cards from Halo 3. They'll make good replacement cases if nothing else.

Finally, hit a rummage with a huge box of DVDs for $3 each...cherry picked some box sets, Rudy!, and they also had some Gamecube games for $5 each...I got 3 Resident Evil titles...are these things still rare?

God, I hate some of you guys.

Anyways:

I went to Target today:

Bought Jeanne D'Arc, Final Fantasy, and Castlevania for $42.xx. (all PSP)

Sold it to a guy I work with for $65 and went back to Target to buy
The same 3 above and Final Fantasy II (psp) for $58.xx plus Card Games for the playstation from Play and Trade.

So I kinda bought FF, FFII, Castlevania, Jeanne D'Arc and the PS game for 42.xx.

Nothing too special here, but I just picked up these at some garage sales:

Sonic Spinball - Genesis (loose)
Legend of Zelda - NES (loose)
Super Mario/Duckhunt/Track Meet combo - NES (loose)
RPG Maker - PS1 (complete)

All for around 10 bucks. Not the best deal in the world, but I needed another copy of Spinball and Zelda.

Flea Market

I didn't plan to go with all the rain last night... but the flea market was HUGE today....
As I said to my dad after scouring the isles over and over "Not Many Games,Nothing,Amazing with all these vendors"..The older stuff is becoming scarce there...I only came across two muddy Genesis 1 Systems with a few boxed games.$40.00 WHAT!!!

I spent a whopping $17.00

Power Glove hook-up..FREE..The vendor thought he sold me the glove last week and I said no,so he said he was going to trash it so he gave it to me.

NES stuff...System,Games etc..
$15.00

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v21/Chris1/MISC%20PICTURES%202/FleaMarket51708002.jpg

I spotted this little Pac Man"Blinky"ghost thing on a TV Plug and Play game,i know the vendor and he's high priced so as I walked away he said $2.00 so I grabbed it..I just wanted the little Ghost as I have the TV game already..You can't beat $2.00 though and it has good batteries in it..
I'm curious about this Red Blinky"Ghost,.What's this thing from?.It's made out of material ..can I get the rest of them/the set.

They were included with a few early releases of the Pac-Man plug and play. I know the first batch that QVC sold came with them, that's where I got mine from. Only Blinky was ever made, it was talked up as a comfort grip - which it's anything but. Still cool though.

My finds thus far this month...

Batman Returns (SNES) Loose - $3
Weird story about that one... I had just gotten the new Nintendo Power which had a retro review about this very game, and I decided to keep my eye out for it. A couple of hours later, I walked into Goodwill and found the game sitting on top of a stack of Maddens. Freaky.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Red Rescue Team GBA (Sealed) - $15
Same as Batman, I was in Target, thinking about having to pick up the game for my collection when it went on sale at TRU later this month, and *BAM* there it was in the clearance section.
I then tried to use my newfound powers to turn up a sealed Earthbound, but no dice :)

And rounding things out at the dirt mall...
NES Cleaning Kit (complete) - $5
1942 - $2.50
Thunder and Lightning (some weirdass Breakout clone) - $2.50

- Metal Gear (NES. Loose): $7

Went to Gamestop today to take advantage of that B1G1 coupon on used XBOX games. So I got Land of the Dead and Sid Meyer's Pirates as my expensive games (priced 19.99 each). Then picked up 4 copies of some of the sports games that were $1, just for the green xbox cases. So six games in total came to $23 which isn't bad at all.

Today is why I've gone to a gazillion garage sales so far this season.

First score was at a sale where they wanted 30 for a N64 with a good number of games. For some reason I checked for the jumper pak, and it was missing, so I asked about just the games. $2 each, so I grabbed Mario Kart and Party3 (both rough). They also had the SNES w/ games all for $2, and I was all over that. It is the Limited Edition gold Zelda version of the SNES. (No joke, I actually saw someone selling one with this claim on CL once)
http://home.comcast.net/~evanwink/images/games/Finds/finds88b.jpg

Next up, a sale had a bunch of PS2, GCN, and Xbox games. A woman was repeatedly flipping through them, taking forever. I didn't want to be rude and shove in, so I eventually asked if there was a type of game she was looking for. She wasn't sure what systems her son had other than PS2. She had PS2 Frogger in her hand, and said she remembered playing that game on 'the one before the Nintendo'. I thought that was kind of cool. I tried to be helpful, but at the same time, I wanted that Mario Party 5 for myself! I kind of told her based on her description what I thought her son had (gamecube), and put back the Shadow game so she could grab it if she wanted, but she didn't pick anything else out. Some decent xbox games there, but I don't have one. So I brought up all these games and a $2 staple gun and the woman couldn't add at all. It totals to 17.20 (.10 each for the n64 nintendo power videos), and I finally get her to the right number, and pay with a 20. I couldn't believe it as she was starting to count out change for the 20 cents! I mean, really, on a $17 bill at a garage sale, who cares about the 20 cents... so I asked if she could just throw those in, and she was 'oh, yeah, sure'.
http://home.comcast.net/~evanwink/images/games/Finds/finds88c.jpg

A hodgepodge over a few more sales: Boxed Genesis Mice $2 each (1 is for trade if anyone wants it); Sonic for $1 (overpriced, but will help sell a spare console I have); Midnight Resistance, Shadowrun, and Jumper Pak all for $1; RE2 for 1.50 (near mint).
http://home.comcast.net/~evanwink/images/games/Finds/finds88d.jpg

Lastly, and a stop I almost didn't make, was a bunch of NES games w/ zapper, 4 controllers, and a/c. Unpriced, but when I asked, $10 = Sold!
http://home.comcast.net/~evanwink/images/games/Finds/finds88a.jpg

This was a cool thing included with the above NES stuff. Probably what I'm most excited about from the day:

I never have garage sale days this bitchin'. In fact the only recent thing video game related I saw was a wet PS2 (it had rained and wasn't covered I guess) with no cords for $30. I said "No Thanks" and kept walking.

Sales were pretty good for me today (not game wise though :( ).

I only found 3 brand new Earthworm Jim action figures for $2 a piece and a copy of the Bratz PS1 game for $1 (meh)

If you're interested in non-game finds:

I went to a surprisingly underpriced estate sale and grabbed a 3 gram 14k gold chain for $5 (worth approx $50-$75 scrap) and a James Avery heart & flower charm with a chain for $4 (worth about $30-$40) as well as some other good jewelry. I found at the same estate sale a 6 inch tall dala horse (which is a Swedish wooden horse that is pretty collectible) for $5 (worth around $30).

I was pretty surprised to find something cool at the last sale we went to. I just walked into the sale and something sticking out of a box caught my eye. I thought "Hmmm.... That looks just like a Crybaby guitar pedal....". It was and I immediately bought the box for $10. There were 2 pedals in the box: A 1977 Morley "Pro Phaser" pedal (which I think is worth at least $200) and the Crybaby pedal, which ended up being a Thomas Organ pedal, made before Dunlop started to make Crybaby pedals. I think the crybaby pedal is worth around $100.

So, anyways I think garage sales were awesome for me today, but game-wise, they sucked.

Today was the first day I went hunting outside of ebay and the local somewhat oldschool gamestore (sort of a game/record/pawn shop). Hit 4 yard sales with absolutely nothing in terms of games. The goodwill and a fleamarket. Also nothing :|

Hugely disappointed for a first time out :(

Went too the gamestore I was talking about and it's closing! Sucks but 40% off everything, too bad most of its cleared out :/

Got Gex and Cyber Speed (long boxs) for PS1
Descent Maximum ps1
MDK2 DC (and a blue VMU)

I agree, I went to our citywide rummage sale and found one game I wanted (Atari Anthology for ps2) and an n64 controller (in great shape) for $5 total. Everything else I would've even considered buying looked like it had been given a quick runover with a belt sander.

Retail Musings New & Used:

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u160/Xexyz1337/IM000511.jpg

Don't mind Boomer (he's a dog, not a cat!), he was tired. A couple of these were from the last week of April. I've been lazy with snapping pictures on a weekly basis the past year. Anyway, Amazon.com stuff included the real deal sealed reprint of SMT: Nocturne ($40), Arcana Heart ($30), and Fatal Fury Battle Archives Vol. 2 ($15). P3 FES ($30) was a pre-order from GameStop, as was R-Type Command ($40) which came with that neat R-9 bonus model ship I STILL haven't put together. Shining Force EXA ($20), new, was an impulse buy. Rondo of Swords ($30, SRPGOTY 2008) and SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1 ($15) were pre-orders from Game Crazy. While browsing their used section, I came across a fairly well conditioned Drakenguard, which was $8.99 with the discount card. And after discovering how enjoyable rougelikes can be thanks to Izuna, I snatched up Shiren the Wanderer for $30 at Wal-Mart.

Now for the actual finds & deals...

Flea Market & Misc. Items:

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u160/Xexyz1337/IM000513.jpg

From a flea market today I got some decent stuff. The Master System games are Great Baseball, Choplifter, and World Grand Prix, all of them complete and in fair shape for $3 each. The Genesis games were from a different vendor, and actually cheaper! For $2 each I got Batman & Robin, one of my favorites growing up, and Liberty or Death (R6 Koei game!!!), which is also complete, and very heavy for a Genesis game due to the thick manual. And that lovely Mr. Do! SNES cart was... FREE. A friend of mine, who has a crazy obsession with Mr. Do!, didn't want it anymore because he said it plays bad. What he really means is that he can't play it w/o an arcade stick. I told him there were a few sticks available for the SNES, but he didn't care, and gave me the game. The real kicker is that it is supposedly complete. He bought it new back in the day, and was one of those people who held onto game boxes. The problem, however, is that it's stuck in his grandmothers attic, which is chock full of he and his brothers toys & collectibles from their youth. I sure hope he finds it someday... and I'm hoping for the best that it's not crushed or riddled with mold and water damage.

I went to the Harpersville flea market today.
Nothing extremely rare turned up, or at least I did not notice anything.
Well, here's my finds for today.

-Hajime no Ippo: The Fighting (PS2, Japanese, used, COMPLETE) $10.00
-Nes Cleaning Kit (Used extremely lightly, COMPLETE, looks BEAUTIFUL) $5.00
-Super R-Type (SNES, used, has box + poster + inserts but no booklet) $5.00
-M.U.S.C.L.E. (NES, used, looks good) $2.00

Pretty good for just one flea stop. :)

Well, I came back a couple days ago from my trip down to Louisiana. While I was down there, I found all sorts of things. On the drive back, absolutely nothing. I stopped at a couple thrifts and two flea markets and didn't find squat. So disappointing.

Yesterday I went out to Trader's Village (massive local flea market) and bought an Atari 600XL with two joysticks, a couple commons, and PS. $20. A copy of Phantasy Star Universe for the Xbox 360, $6. And a pair of Amiga mini-joysticks for the TI-99/4A, $2.

I don't know what guide you've been looking in but that Jr. Bacon Cheeseburgwer and Med Regular Fries are no more than an R2 in my book. The Chicken Sandwich is also no more than an R3.

However, that Northern Tool Company Go-Cart Torque Converter belt is about a R4 since there are way less of those made.

That Gas is the winner though. You're probably best holding onto it for a while as it's steadily increasing in value. Just don't hold onto it that long. It won't be worth much if it goes bad. Definitely an R8 at the moment.

I got a CD with 2000 fonts (always good for hacking work) and a "Software Toolworks CD Game Pack" which had five games: Life & Death, Beyond The Black Hole, Chessmaster 2000, Gin King / Cribbage King, and Bruce Lee Lives.

I bought it for Bruce Lee, and the game really really sucks.

Stopped by Goodwill just to return something, but had a look at the CDs and games. Picked out the Genesis games, but $5 ea. is a bit much (all the games were marked 4.99 today), might return them. As I was about to move on to the electronics section (I saw an N64 and PSOne go by), a stocker put a stack of PS games in front of me. I passed on a full set of Tomb Raider games, but Silent Hill? sure. Oddworld? you bet. MGS? waffled on this one, but took it because these were all in minty condition. By the time I was done with that stack, here comes another! FFVII? no doubt. Warhammer? Sounds interesting, along with a few others I wasn't very familiar with. Then, I picked up the N64, it had the expansion pak, but no price. I asked and she went to find out.. $15, well, the expansion is almost worth that. As I was trying to decide on the PSOne (passed because no a/c adapter), she came back with an armful of N64 games and said 'here's some games for that'. I passed on the Pokemon games, not worth it at $5 a pop, also Midway's compilation and some other decent stuff, but I had them and they aren't worth re-selling. Next out were the N64 controllers, all in excellent condition. Probably should have bought that PSone, real nice shape and with a couple great condition controllers (one came with, the other $3). Rang up quite the bill at checkout, but I may return a few things if I don't like them.

http://home.comcast.net/~evanwink/images/games/Finds/finds89.jpg

p.s. If anyone wants any of the Gen games (Syd of Valis (R5), Rocket Knight Adv, Streets of Rage), SW RAII, or Colony Wars III: Red Sun for $6 plus shipping, let me know as I've decided to return them otherwise. I broke my rule about loose genesis games that I don't know for sure I'll play, and already have the PS games.

I don't know what the deal is for me lately, but things have been good. Too bad I'm not a senior, I would have gotten 40% off all this stuff. Each row of N64 games was $7, NES was 15, wiimote 20 (and I really needed one), NES games were $5, and the a/c + Sonic was 1.99.

I've never had the tacos there. Are they good? Using taco bell as a reference for tacos, are the tacos at Jack in the box +, -, or =?

Today I used that B1G1 GS XBOX coupon for Sniper Elite and Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. $30 for the 2. After things I've read about Sniper Elite I was hoping I'd find it somewhere at a reasonable price.

.

I would rate them slightly under tacobell, not bad my any means, but 2 for 99cents is a decent deal. TACO Tuesday at Del Taco is the shit tho. 3 tacos for 99cents! Del Taco is far superior to Taco Bell as far as quality of meat and overall service.

Aside from that.. I picked up one snes and one N64 controller and a N64 rumble pack for free (some guy on craigslist posted em and left a bunch of stuff outside his house) and I also got a 19" Samsung CRT monitor in perfect working order for 10$

$15 on craigslist for a toaster NES w/ 2 controllers, RF switch, and power brick. Looking around now that seems like not that bad of a deal. Although, it didn't work straight out of the bag with the two NES cartridges I have, flashing power light. Guess some alchohol treatment is in order. Inside the 520ST I found this...

http://www.classicplastic.net/digitalpress/finds/DP-Finds-2008-05-20(04).jpg

I'm assuming it's the built in OS upgrade for the early model 520's. I can't power up the straight 520ST as I don't have the power adapter but the 520STFM powers up fine. I think the floppy drive has problems because I get a "drive is not responding" error when I select it, even though I hear it spin up. I did disassemble it and clean it and while it looks okay it could very well be shot. I converted a couple games from .msa to .st with MSA Converter but again, I get nothing. Does the disk have to be formatted a specific way to be readable, should I get at least something, or is the drive totally shot? Also anyone have a good ST resource other than Atari Legend?

As for the Tuesday flea market, it was a pretty good day all things considered. The temperature finally curved down to pleasant levels after some very hot days. Started out looking over some cords and accessories at one of the side sellers. He had a SNES power adapter, which a coworker is looking for. He wanted $3.00 and then I heard a guy asking about a GameCube game - it was the Mario Kart Double Dash Bonus Disc. LOL The guy bought it... Seller said he wanted $3.00 for the games as well, so I walked over and took a peek. He had a couple loose games and a couple complete ones - including a copy of Super Mario Sunshine (barf) and a loose copy of Paper Mario The Thousand-Year Door. I rented Paper Mario TTYD when it was released but couldn't get into it, graphically I loved the charm of the game but for some reason I just didn't like it. Maybe I was just not in the mood for an RPG at the time but I wanted to give it another shot. I asked if the seller would take $5.00 for the game and the power adapter, to which he agreed. Game works fine, barely a blemish on the disc, adapter works fine too.

Next up a big box of assorted controllers and a few Sega games. A Master System cartridge is what caught my eye and caused me to look in the box, sadly it was Missile Defense 3-D. The Genesis games were crap as were the controllers with the exception of the good old 3DO FZ-JJ1XP six button controller. Seller wanted $2.00, paid gladly. Controller works great, I'm one of the few people that has no problem with the stock Panasonic pad (the second version) but I will admit that Wolfenstein 3D plays far smoother with the FZ-JJ1XP. I did two laps around the flea market today and on the end of the first trip I noticed some random loose SNES games, among them a couple titles that I enjoy and are some of the top non-mainstream games on the platform in my opinion. Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts and Vegas Stakes were the games, the others were a couple sports games and other titles I can't remember - nothing spectacular though. He wanted $3.00 each, I got them for $5.00 total.

3DO - FZ-JJ1XP six button controller ($2.00)
GC - Paper Mario The Thousand-Year Door ($2.50)
SNES - Power adapter ($2.50)
SNES - Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts ($2.50)
SNES - Vegas Stakes ($2.50)

http://www.classicplastic.net/digitalpress/finds/DP-Finds-2008-05-20(05).jpg

As I said, I did two full trips around the flea market, the second faster than the first. On the first pass there were two gentlemen at the front with a table of boxed N64 games, $10.00 each. I looked them over and said that I'd probably be back. On the second time around I went back to them and picked a couple games out. He had some loose sports games that were $5.00 and some loose more valuable games for $8.00, then of course the boxed ones. I picked up a boxed copy of StarFox 64 with the rumble pak, however no instructions or insert tray. He said boxed games without books are $8.00 but he also wanted that for the loose StarFox 64 cartridge he had, and as not to be a slap in the face I didn't say anything about the booklet not being present. I also picked up a boxed complete copy of Shadows of the Empire as well, also $10.00.

N64 - StarFox 64 ($10.00)
N64 - Star Wars Shadows of the Empire ($10.00)

http://www.classicplastic.net/digitalpress/finds/DP-Finds-2008-05-20(06).jpg

Oh, and of course the Speed Racer DVD is a bootleg, paid a buck for it. Now before all the crap starts I've seen it three times in the theatre (and will more than likely do so again) and have paid $34.00 into the film as of this date. Typical bootleg quality for a film currently showing - subtitled in Dutch I believe. ROFL I bought it to compare some scenes.

Does the message change when you put a disc in and close the lid? It should reset and change to "Checking the disc..." - if it doesn't then the switch that detects the lid being closed is bad. Tutorial for that repair is at my site below. It's the simple place to start. Also yeah, use proper power - many threads on that. =]

Actually, the system -reboots- and then it says "Checking the disc". The switch works well, but as I said, I have no idea if the laser is busted or what.

I haven't found a PSU with the proper voltage yet. :( Hopefully I'll find it at the booth where I found the thing tomorrow.
