Most of my dislikes have been said by pretty much everybody here (guitar hero, sports games). Unlike many of the people posting thier lists, I do like almost all rpgs and zelda games though. Wrestling games I won't even touch because they make me more pissed off than any other game out there. My main thing is Halo though. I liked the first one's single player, I played a tiny bit of part 2, then thats pretty much where I couldn't play it anymore. I thought Doom 3 was better than any Halo game personally. I think I just lost interest on FPSs though because of how horribly over saturated the market had become with them.

Lets see...
Metal Gear Solid
Gears of War
Kingdom Hearts
Rockband/Guitar Hero
Halo (any of them)
Call of Duty games
Grand Theft Auto (any of them)
Suikoden Series
Metroid Series
God of War
Legend of Zelda Series
Practically any Mario game
Mother Series
Also, practically every single fighting game known to man. I think thats enough titles to at least make someone wonder about me as a gamer. ;) I know what games I like and, as it turns out, the games I like aren't so much the norm.

Guiter Hero
I play guitar and find these games extremely difficult. It seems as though the timing is off. When you know exactly how to play a song and then fuck it up on GH it really pisses me off. Any other musicians have this problem or is it just me?
Yeah, it's a HUGE adjustment. I've had people tell me that since I play a real guitar that Guitar Hero MUST be simple for me. That wasn't the case. It took a lot of work to finally get decent at it. I was able to start out skipping easy diff but, I was trapped in medium land for quite a while. I think it was just the transition to the plastic axe cause once I five stared everything on medium in the first game I could got through hard and expert without many problems. Took about 6 weeks of playing 2-4 hours a day to break myself in.

Personally, I don't like the original FF7. I think it's too over-hyped too. For a PSOne game, the non-cutscene graphics were appallingly simple compared to other games of the time. The main story was ridiculously ridiculous. The only stories I liked were a few of the side stories. Not to mention the sheer audacity of certain elements of the game (3 giant monsters you only had a chance to kill if you were level OMGWTFBBQ and had a summon that it would take weeks to get).
Also, I don't like Counter-Strike. In the way of first-person shooters, it's just a fossil of something that could've been. Don't really like God of War or Gears of War, and I lost interest in Ghost Recon after Island Thunder.
And Socom!!! God that game is TERRIBLE!

The one popular game I just can't get into is the Half Life series (1 and 2). I don't know what it is about the game, but I just don't enjoy it. I really don't understand why it won so many Game of the Year awards, when the first one has some horrific sound effects! The game is hard as heck, and there's no sense of where you are supposed to go. I always end up getting turned around. Not to mention there's hardly any ammo in the levels, and it makes for a very frustrating and almost impossible experience. The enemies are also cheap, and only a few hits will kill you, and there's not that many med pack stations, either. I have tried several times to enjoy it, but I just can't. I'm conteplating selling my copies of Half-Life for the PS2 and Half-Life 2 for the Xbox, as I don't play them since there's an odd thing about the game that makes me not enjoy it.
Another popular game I could never get into (literally, lol) is Dance Dance Revolution. I tried it one time, and I totally sucked. I'm not in the best shape, and my legs are also not so coordinated, so it ended up being hard and frustrating, lol.
Another one is the Elder Scrolls III Morrowind. Although Oblivion is a bit better, Morrowind is just a borefest for me. Unlikeable characters, a desolate world, not so great graphics, and confusing menus, makes this game a chore to play. The open end-ness of the game just didn't click with me, even though I love games like Grand Theft Auto III. I do enjoy Oblivion to a good extent, but I don't play it enough due to it being too big for my liking. Sometimes games don't need to be 100+ hours long to be fun. I don't care if the game takes you 5 minutes to complete, as long as it's fun and it makes those 5 minutes worthwhile, I'll enjoy it. If I play 100+ hours of the same game (with half of it traveling all over the place) I get bored easily. Once again, I don't understand why the game got so many awards, and I don't enjoy it hardly at all.
oblivion was TERRIBLE compared to morrowind: Ultra cliched story, repetitive portal closing bs missions, wierd enemy level scaling so you never feel like youve gained any power as the weaker enemies cease to spawn. bs fast travel system that takes all the exploration out of the game. buggy hard to ride horse (horse riding was better in ocarina of time!!!), and worst of all you arent the nevarar! Though dont get me wrong i did still enjoy oblivion to an extent it was just catering to the wrong people.

After reading most of what everyone has commented so far all I can say is wow, I thought I didn't like certain games but jeez I guess when comes to taste in games people on this board definitely prefer their cup of tea lol.
I've never really gotton into Grand Theft Auto as much as certain people in my area, but I kinda like GTA 4's multiplayer. I've played the gta games for the PS2 & PSP but I would get board of them after so many hours of doing missions, stealing cars, etc and ultimately I would end up selling them. GTA 4 imo is the same game with updated graphics, tacked on over hyped multiplayer, with a decent story; already I have unlocked most of the in game single player achievements and I starting to grow tired of it. I honesty can't see how GTA 4 gets perfect scores with reviewers with the same old gameplay.
Another franchise I can't get into is Mortal Kombat, I admit I love fighting games but MK was one of the few fighting games I never liked. The controls don't feel all too natural to me that, and I don't like killing people in fighting games ( I love fighting for sport).
I don't like the D.O.A. series because I don't like the way Itagaki portraies women in that series, plus I wouldn't enjoy playing the games for the games when the physics distract me lol.
Every Resident Evil game besides Resident Evil 4: I absolutely hated having to turn in one direction then shoot, then turn in another direction and shoot because it totally took the fun out of the series for me.
Gears of War turns me off as well because not only did the first one wasn't long enough but the online play feels unbalanced and repetitive to new players.
Madden games have always been a torn in my side as well, my beef with them is I play them for a good year then I get bored of it, buy the newest one, then repeat. I caved in and got Madden 08 for the Wii and after tree months of playing it I couldn't get into it anymore and sold it to gamestop.

I don't mean to flame, but dark blue text on a black background looks REALLY bad.
I baught Warcraft III, and I only loaded up the exe like 5 times. I also often regret never starting Halo.

Halo 1-3
I haven't played the third, but I played the first and went as far as to own the second and log a significant amount of time online ... and as far as FPS games go for me, I love the genre, but not at that default speed/pace/gravity.
I tried my best to get into the series, but I just couldn't find anything about it that resonated with my FPS tastes.
Madden (or any annually released sports games. But I like golf & some baseball games)
Guitar Hero (I was given GH3 as a gift- I like it, but havent played it in months)
Metal Gear ANYTHING
GTA
Final Fantasy
HALO
RPGs w/ turn-based fighting & random battles
Gran Turismo
Zelda
Pokemon
fighting games
FPS besides DOOM (we've got ENOUGH military/WWII FPS people!!!)
Devil May Cry
& pretty much anything released for this current-gen systems. Sad, I know.

So, do you like any games? ;)
I have very selective tastes in my games. I know fairly quickly after reading about/viewing specific games if I'll get as much enjoyment out of the title compared to another title. Combine those tastes with an aesthetic in the slightly quirky. Needless to say most mainstream doesn't appeal to me. :)
I'm a pretty decent fan of simulation, strategy, RPG, God games, and shmups. Most of the titles in those genres tend to be a little bit on the obscure side. There are exceptions though. There is some rather large RPG franchises out there, but the said franchises' quality has really fluctated the last 5-10 years. Final Fantasy comes to mind. The only real company I consider to have incredibly consistent quality in RPGs is triAce.
As far as hugely popular games like Mario and Zelda... I dunno. I never got into them. LOL

Well, I'm a decent fan of RPGs (heck, I work at a RPG-centric website..), and within RPG enthusiast circles, its fairly well known and loved. My viewpoint is probably skewed a bit, but to the avid RPG fan, its definitely mainstream. ;)

Metal Gear (any of them really I've been pissed off at the series ever since i bought VR missions)
Condemned
Grand Turisimo
Forza
Metroid series (besides the original)
Resident Evil
Tomb Raider
Kingdom Hearts (so fucking boring)
World of War Craft
Brothers In Arms
Guitar Hero (another boring and tedious game for me)

Now that I think about it there are some other popular games I don't enjoy as much as some people. Halo 1, 2, & to some extent 3 are games that I had the privalige of playing through, but when it came to the online play I couldn't help but feel overwhelmed by the acts and antics that go along with these games. Sure I'm aware that smack talking, cheating, achievement grabbing, etc goes on with other online games (Gears Of War & GTA4) however; when everyone focuses on winning a match by all costs it really drains the fun out of it for me.
Guitar Hero: Personally I don't hate the franchise at all what I do hate however; is the fact whenever I play Guitar Hero I start experiencing epileptic symptoms from watching the notes come at me. Fun game but what's the use playing it if your stomach can't handle it?

The one-on-one fighting games.
When "Street Fighter 2" pretty much defined 1/3 of the arcade genre for the next decade+, well, that was it.
Oddly enough, I did like the earlier ones, which is why I like CV Rocky Boxing and am ordering Yi-Ar Kung Fu. Never was a big fan of Karateka, though.

Lots of people named my main choices, surprisingly enough..
Halo, Grand Theft Auto, Guitar Hero, Rock Band, and Gears of War: Halo is just something I never got into. Technically well made games, but I really suck at FPS. Grand Theft Auto is popular because society is messed up, I think. I see no fun in those games. Guitar Hero and Rock Band I cannot see the point of at all. Gears was fun at times, but again I suck at shooters and the final boss made me lose my will to live. Don't even get me started on online play.. it's the reason I don't have my 360 hooked up online lately.
Games/series I can't get into:
Metal Gear Solid - I'd probably like them if I ever sat down and really tried them, but they intimidate me (suck at 3D games, shooting involved, blah blah) and the storylines seem way too involving.
Gran Turismo - Again, they seem way too overwhelming for someone like me who prefers simple and fun racing games.
Mega Man X - Anything besides X, I can barely play 10 minutes of before turning off. I don't know why.
Other popular things I dislike:
First person shooters except Doom and Goldeneye
3D platformers, I hate collect-a-thons since DKC brought them into the picture. ****ing DKC. Mario 64 blows.
Zelda: Ocarina of Time is a horribly boring game.
Contra: I just don't get it.

Goldeneye. By the time my older step-brother was playing it all the time and going on and on about how awesome it was because you could play 4 players on a tiny splitscreen on his TV, I was playing the original Team Fortress on QuakeWorld in 16, 24, sometimes even 32 player matches on my PC. This was back when GameSpy was just a program called QuakeSpy, and you could still play online games on dialup. Also, you could jump. Was pretty much a no-brainer for me.
I'm sure there was also a pride thing, "my game is better than yours" going on as well. "'Golden gun'? Give me half an hour in QuakeC and I'll make a gun that shoots Ogres. Fucking Ogres. ... No, no, you don't understand. The Ogres would be the bullets."

Halo (series)- I watch other people play it, but have no real interest in picking up the controller
Resident Evil 4 - I tried, I really did. I've actually played it quite a bit with friends, but still.. eh! I know I know, it's REALLY good. I just don't care.
FF6 - pssh, someday I'll try again.
Madden (series)- Don't really get into most sports games.
God of War - I love the second one. The first one makes me want to vomit, for some reason.

Resident Evil. Love the idea, hate the controls. Even 4 felt the same to me. Sure, the camera angle is better, but you still have to turn, then run forward. Why can't I just push in a direction and go that way?
KotOR. Yeah, that's right, I said it. And I'm a huge Star Wars fan! I tried to play this game twice, good and dark side, and got bored and quit half way through both times. If the battle system had been realtime instead of turn based I would probably dug it, but as it was it just didn't do it for me.
3D fighters. I just don't seem to care. Soul Calibur is the only one that can ever sway me, but they have to include things like Link and Yoda/Vader to do it.
I used to feel the same way most of you do about Halo, but a friend of mine convinced me to play online with him a few times and it grew on me a lot. I realized that while it's not the best FPS ever, it does have pretty balanced weapons and gameplay and is generally pretty fun to play. As long as you're playing with friends, that is. Random online jerks are not recommended. Decent story in single player, too, but that's just my opinion.
Mortal Kombat
Killer Instinct
Street Fighter
(or any of the fighting games)
Madden
I used to love sports games, but just can't get into them anymore. And I never got into the ones above.

Fighting games and sports games - I can't stand em. I don't watch sports either.
Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask - I HATE these games....with a burning passion. IMO they ruined the Zelda franchise....
Final Fantasy VII - IX - I played these games solely on the rep that FF3 (SNES) had built. I REALLY wanted them to be good. But they were tedious, with a slow moving story, a lot of side questing, and the lamest protagonists ever. I don't need to play angsty mutes. Feh.
Half-Life series - I've bought em several times...I love FPSs. I've TRIED to finish em...I always get bored. I even hated Portal. Everything Half-Life seems tedious to me for some reason...like they're forcing you through hoops rather than making the gameplay fun. Might as well be Superman 64.
GTA series - I HATED these. Tried GTA3 when the hype hit. Got bored in a couple hours. I was stopping at stoplights. I just can't play a game where the only point is to commit random acts of crime and violence, and run through a bunch of lame ass mini-game missions. It's BORING. I don't do open-ended (except for Oblivion).
God of War - I was bored by level 2. Could not STAND that game...but I played Conan for the 360 like crazy. I don't get it....
Guitar Hero (and all peripheral based rhythm games) - Bought Guitar Hero 1 on hype...played it all the way through on easy...then started normal. I found that a. I don't have the coordination to use even the 4th button and b. I get really bored playing the same song over and over trying to get better and start to hate the song. This goes for all the music games like that. I did like Mad Maestro tho....
Online ANYTHING - I hate online gaming. Seriously. Multiplayer SUCKS. Who wants to play the same maps over and over again to outscore the other guy? Not me. I get bored as hell playing stuff like that. I'd MAYBE play multiplayer co-op, but with the friends I have it's impossible to coordinate schedules and I only like to play against people I know. I don't have a gold membership for the 360 and never will. I don't play anything online. I can't STAND it. No multiplayer, no online modes...nothing. And with the growing trend toward this stuff over core gameplay (why? Because it sells AND it's easier to make than a good single player game) it's only getting MORE popular! Ugh. Plus...the same reason I hate these is why I hate sports games...a team of people running back and forth over the same field over and over for hours, often in spandex. Booooring.

I hate:
Every Mario Bros. Game
Mega Man
Zelda
Chrono Trigger
Ninja Gaiden
All Sonics
PSYCH!!
I really don't like big sports game, other than some decent baseball games like Power Pros and old school hockey games.
I also don't care for huge modern FPS games, though I did like GoldenEye and Perfect Dark for N64.

Mainstream sports games hold no interest to me... I'll check out more unique sports like volleyball or dodgeball.. but any basketball, football, baseball games do nothing for me.
I don't like about 98% of fighting games. I've gotten into maybe 2-3 fighting games in my entire gaming career. And I've tried plenty of them.
JRPG are lame to me. I'm MUCH more into western style RPGs that give you more freedom and customization. I have no desire to play any Final Fantasy games.
Like fighting games, I also can't seem to get into RTS games. Warcraft 2 was the last RTS game I played consistantly.

Wow, finally a place where I can admit I didn't really like Grand Theft Auto 3. I just didn't really couldn't get into it, although stealing all the different cars was fun for a while.
Final Fantasy Tactics - Sacrilege, I know, but it's just so cryptic in the beginning, and I have a short attention span.
Metal Gear Solid - I don't really like stealth games, all the Tom Clancy games apply here as well.
Chrono Trigger - I love jRPGs, but this one just didn't do it for me.

Square/Enix Anything (oh sorry, they are on their final one now, right? hahaha) <- cept for Project Sylpheed, they finally snagged me with that one.

All EA Sports games cept for Rugby
Tenchu: Uh, the 1st 2 levels of the 1st game made me feel like a ninja, but then what the hell, there are demons and crap now. If I want to fight demons, I will play an rpg or something, not a ninja game
MGS: yeah, i hate em.
Stealth Games in general: They are cool, but so boring. It is either "Super soldier to the rescue who is all stealthy" or "super killer dude who is all stealthy" I know, who else needs to be stealthy, uh, robbers. I want a game from the show "It takes a theif". I would play that stealth game.

More than a few right here. Halo being prominent on the list. Never got the attraction of that one, give me Quake 3/TF any day. Ditto Gears of War, even the single-player.
I used to turn my nose up at Need for Speed too, but Carbon was pretty fun- though I did wait before getting Prostreet (specifically, got it today, preowned, for £10 :-)
Oh, and dunno if this counts or not, but I've surprisingly fallen out of love with FIFA and soccer games in general. Does this make me a snob? (I still love the sport itself, though)
