I have been reading the forums over the past couple weeks and i have seeing mixed reports on the different tv's and what light guns work on them. I was wondering what the best tv to go for other then another giant freakin CRT.
:duh:

Another giant CRT if you want to play classic gun games. Isn't the PS3 Guncon3 the only console lightgun that works with LCD/Plasma tellys?

I'm pretty sure that the Action Max will work on any TV. You'd have to suction cup the light sensor onto your LCD or plasma screen for it to work though.

Silent Scope gun claims HDTV support. I'll test it someday.

the snes super scope mounts an ir beacon above the tv much like the wii so that will work with any tv. other than that there were lik sang imports that worked with ps2 on any tv but unfortunatly thats not an option these days. the wiimote based lightgun (ie plastic wiimote holder shaped like a lightgun) works with any tv. and though its not really a gun and never worked very well even out of the box the power glove uses accoustics to determine position and will work with any tv.

While old crt tvs may be big/heavy they give fantastic pciture, they're cheap and they're the best solution for old school games I have a sony with svid and component hookups its gorgeous. Love it.

Isn't the IR sensor just to make it wireless? I always assumed it used standard light gun technology.

The RGT G1 works on PS2/3 and is similar to the guncon 3 in that you mount an "eye" on top of your HDTV. You must then calibrate it before you play, but it only takes a few seconds once you get the hang of what it takes. I mapped the "duck & cover" button to X and all is good now. It will also take the place of my Xbox light gun too because it'll work with those games. I bought mine at Fry's.
Edit: it's also wireless as it runs on 2 AA batteries.
