Wow. I was talking to a friend of mine about video games I have. He figured I was talking about the more modern consoles but I told him I was referring to the old school games. Atari, Intellivision, Colecovision, etc. His eyes lit up and he would not let the conversation end. It continued after work turning into instant messaging "old games 101". I told him about the Vegas shows I went to, the DP store and other related things. I even mentioned the homebrew games and it made him even more drawn to things. He has officially caught the bug. I advised him to hit DP and register here and do an intro and all. I also advised him to take things in before doing anything. I gave him examples such as Atari 7800 being backward compatible to play 2600 and things like that. I said I have numerous doubles of commons and could give him many. (Why? I don't really ever sell anything and trading commons is usually not necessary. Thats why their called commons, most of us have them + I'm a game packrat). My advisory went ignored, he already bought an Atari 2600 and some games (not a bad deal thankfully). However, he told me he is watching many other auctions. I am trying to slow his roll. It is going be tough though, he is a man possessed. He also mentioned some of the game watch type games... He was looking at some of the more sought after games which run into the hundreds of dollars.

Hi, my name is Marc and I'm your pusher.

I've given duplicate consoles to people before, to get them hooked. I gave a Lynx, an Atari 2600 (4-switch), and an Intellivision to a co-worker years ago. I don't buy consoles and games just to resell like a lot of people here do, so they were just dupes, and I didn't mind helping someone out. I don't think he really caught the bug, though. He mainly wanted the 2600 because of the Homestar Runner RPG that sadly never made it out, and the Lynx because it could be 'flipped' for left-handed people.

A few months ago we had a vendor from work stop by the house. The guy went nuts when he saw my old games and wanted to talk about the Atari 2600 all night long. When he left I gave him one of my spare systems and five or six dupes. The last time I talked to him he had picked up a few other game lots off of eBay and had caught the bug.

One of us, hmm? I figure before we start saying that we should wait a bit. I have known many people who have gotten into classic gaming and ultimately stopped weeks or months later.

I figure if your friend has the bug a year or so later (maybe half a year) we got ourselves another comrade.
