I linked to an article about this in Game Informer in the very post you quoted.

We asked several third-party Wii developers about the Wii MotionPlus ... they were as surprised as everyone else when Nintendo revealed its existence on stage. That lack of prior notice means that, aside from Nintendo’s own roster of games, users won’t likely see any support for the device for at least six to nine months.

I was correct. Nine months is plenty of time for third party developers to implement MotionPlus controls in their games.

Wii Sports Resort is being released in nine months, so it isn't like Nintendo is beating third parties to the market and hogging all of the profits for itself. So, is there a problem?

This sorta throws some 3rds a curve. If they are looking at going to press around the time M+ releases do they continue on without integration or do they back up and incorporate it? It could get rather sharp. Both forks have advantages and drawbacks. From the gamers point of view though, later is alright if it makes things better. Then again, we're not the ones working on a deadline or sweating a budget. That's about it I guess.

Wow, everyone can shit all over the Wii and its games, but the instant someone rants on the 360, all hell breaks loose.

Over dramatizing? Yes, and far over the top. You're taking my attack upon a console and its general population as an attack upon you. I'm kinda new, but I think there's a beefy-calmy meme that needs to be inserted here in respect to your rant. If I can take the hits that people dish out concerning the Wii and not get my panties in a bunch, I would expect you to be able to do the same when it comes to potshots taken at the 360. Anything else would be... fanboyish.

Great, they fix their constantly breaking product. Dealerships will repair your car if it's under warranty, but that doesn't help the fact that you're without a ride until it's fixed. Again, I buy a console to play games, not to ship back and forth. The hardware problem with the 360 is UNACCEPTABLE. I don't care if Atlus and NIS both decided to publish exclusively for the 360... I still wouldn't buy it.

I'm glad you break the mold. Seriously. You aren't the typical "hardcore" gamer. Therefore you are exempt from the majority of my previous rant. However, you must admit that I was pretty much on target with the 360's main audience. Any other reason why Halo and Gears of War are two of it's BIGGEST (if not THE biggest) flagship titles?

I only took it "personally" because you ensinuating that I was one of those halo-happy mainstream types. And really I didn't take it THAT personally, I just felt you came off as uninformed at all about the 360. I'm not some crazy fanboy either, I don't play my 360 all that much either. But I do play it more than I play my Wii, and since I own both, I thought I would tell you about how things are different from my perspective. Mostly I just wanted to point out that the 360's library may indeed SEEM overrun with same-y fluff, but there are lots of interesting games no one talks about that are more unique. Anyway, like I said, drama mode off. No hard feelings or anything.

If you're talking specifically about games that are first being developed now, then yes. Otherwise, major revisions will have to be made, and for many already far along, it's too late. You selectively bolded part of that quote. You need the full context.

Aside from Nintendo's own roster of games... as in: "it could have been many, but now only Nintendo will benefit."

Yes, there is a problem. Nintendo went and made this major change to its control scheme, which it plans to make the standard from now on, and it never told any of its 3rd parties. If I were a company making games for the Wii, and after I have several games in development I find out that there's a major change to the gameplay dynamics coming, I'd be major pissed. Nintendo informed its 3rd parties at the same time it informed the general public. And then people wonder why 3rd parties don't put any effort into their games and don't assign the "AAA teams."

If you want to get down to the pure truth, there are only two things that keep my money in my bank when it comes to the idea of purchasing a 360:

1. It's a Microsoft product. This leads directly to...
2. It's failure rate. Unheard of in the console world, all the norm for... a Microsoft product.

As the AVGN says... what's the most important thing about any game? Being able to play it. I have allowed Microsoft the benefit of the doubt when it comes to its shoddy build quality. They told us that it would be resolved with later system releases... it would be resolved when the die size dropped... it would be resolved with the Elite consoles. None of these have happened. I do not care what lineup of titles and/or developers you have stuffed under your belt, if I'm on my third console within six months... I want my money back.

Now, moving on to the Halo-happy-i-gotta-kill-em-all group. This is equal across ALL consoles (well, except the Wii because there are fewer games in that genre than fingers on my hand), and as you and I both know (unfortunately), they are the ones that 90% of developers focus their efforts upon. This is also evident in the gamer population itself... Atlus and NIS are at the bottom of the brick in gamer opinion of trusted developers/publishers (now you know why I dislike Game(mis)Informer). The reason I targeted the 360 with most of my verbal ammo is due to the fact that the 360 is geared towards this specific demographic.

I would honestly be interested in hearing what other good titles are out there for the 360... it will ultimately be the deciding factor into whether I buy one when/if they fix their quality issues. Hearing about those games would be a wonderful change from being flooded with gotta-kill-em-all titles the instant I set my foot in the door of $GAMESTORE

Anyways, I'm off to go play some Brawl. Why debate what "good games" are when you can go play them?

You've answered your own question - I can't play them when I'm posting to this message board as I'm at work. :)

Mind you I have brought in my SNES before, on a Friday, and had everybody gathered around as we played MK II and NHL '95 over the last hour or so.

Here is a case on an in development Wii title (prior to M+ announcement) that will incorporate M+. It's Red Steel 2... but, it counts right? :p
