I love snowboarding games and was wondering what some of your favorites are. I'm wanting to try some others and was looking for suggestions.
Here are ones that I have played.

1080 (N64) - I really liked this one for the time but it's sequal is better in every way, therefor I never play this one anymore.

1080 Avalanche (Game Cube) - THE best snowboarding game I have ever played. I absolutely love this game. I REALLY like the mode where you have to find the hidden coins as you are blasting down the course.

Steep Slope Sliders (Saturn)- Stupid name, but tons of fun. First Snowboarding game I ever played and I still love it. I also LOVED the atari 2600 style snowboarding game you could unlock... it was a blast!

Cool Boarders 2 and 4 (Playstation) - I'm not sure about these. I play them once in a while but nothing makes me want to come back to them once I stop playing.

Rippin' Riders ((Cool Boarders) Dreamcast) - Another incredibly stupid name. This one was okay and I like it better than 2 and 4 on the Playstation, but it still doesn't make me want to return to it after I quit playing and for the DC it could have been MUCH better.

So does anyone have any suggestions on other snowboarding games?

Twisted Edge Snowboarding (N64) - I liked this one over 1080 because the moves were way easier to do.
Steep Slope Sliders (Saturn) - Awesome, my fav snowboarding game and possibly fav game of all time
ESPN Winter X-Games Snowboarding (PS2)
Rippin Riders (DC)
There is also this one for Arcade called Surf something or other. It was uber easy since all you did was went left and right on a joystick. Super fun

SSX On Tour (PS2/Xbox/PSP). Can't ever see myself getting sick of playing this. Still play it at least once a month. It's a shame that it was ignored when first released because it's one of the best snowboard games I've ever played.

BTW, is Snowboard Kids for the N64 anything like SBK for DS? I always heard great things about the N64 games but I thought the DS version was awful.

1080 Snowboarding on N64. I'm also quite fond of the snowboarding minigame in Final Fantasy VII, though that doesn't really count. ;)

even though it is sledding, not really snowboarding, but does line rider count?

Cool! Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm gonna look for Twisted Edge and one of the SSX games this weekend.

I know there are quite a few SSX games in the series. Any suggestion on what installment is the best to start with?

Currently 1080 on the N64, but if the Gamecube sequel is better I'll go track a copy down. I did have Amped on the Xbox years ago. Quite enjoyable from what I remember.

I personally recommend starting with the original and then moving to Tricky. If you find Tricky first and want to start there that's OK too. I wouldn't start with 3 and beyond personally, as they changed a lot of the dynamics and style of the game with SSX 3. Tricky is still my favorite in the series.

I'm probably in the minority on this, but I also recommend Shawn Palmer for the PS2. It didn't get great reviews at the time, but it's basically Tony Hawk on the snow. At first it seemed like it didn't work that well, but something clicked with me and that game and I was able to put up some massive scores and have a great time doing it.

Amped 3 on the 360 is a really fun snowboarding game. It has lots of modes, plus you can just free ride if you want. There are some snowmobiling and sledding sections, but the vast majority of the game is snowboarding.

I actually like Val d'Isere Skiing & Snowboarding for the Jaguar quite a lot. Unlike the other games you guys are mentioning, it's not polygon based. Instead it uses very lushly drawn sprites and 2D backgrounds along with an effect similar to the Road Rash games to create a very convincing and thrilling feeling of speed and depth. As such, it's really more of a skiing game than a snowboarding game, but fun just the same.

Another 2D one that I like a lot is Cool Boarders Pocket for the NGPC. Now many people don't like that game, but I absolutely love it. It's a very simple game without much variety, but the difficulty is spot on and ramps up very smoothly making the game a lot of fun to come back to again and again. The best feature is the "endless" track mode where you play on an infinite randomly generated track and have to survive as long as you can. I can play that mode over and over again for hours trying to improve my performance.

1080 on the N64 is great, too, obviously.

Well, I finally came across a mint condition SSX Tricky at Gamestop (unfortunately, it was my last resort) for 7.99. I bought it a few hours ago and have been playing it since. It's a blast!

I am still adjusting to the controls because i'm so used to 1080 Avalanche, but i'm doing pretty good so far. I REALLY need to work on the timing of my jumps however. I'm also impressed with all the extra content. I like how you can watch videos of all the voice actors in the studio and everything.

Unfortunately I have to run back to Gamestop tomorrow and exchange the disc because the MORON behind the counter gave me a Greatest Hits disc, and the case was clearly NON GH!!!

I loved Steep Slope Sliders and always wanted to really sink some time into Trick'N Snowboarder (http://users.pandora.be/twin-dreams/PSone/Steep_Slope_Sliders_2.html) but never really have. "One of these days" is what I keep telling myself, but I've had it for like 5 years now. :(

Sequel to Steep Slope Sliders? Hidden Resident Evil characters? More awesomeness? Sounds good to me.

The DS one is awful. I played it, and it's nothing really like the N64 ones.

Anyway, Snowboard Kids 1 and 2 are probably my favorite titles. The first one had great music, and that's probably the only thing that makes me like the first one better.

I had no idea this game existed!!!

I always wished that there was a sequel to Steep Slope Sliders and it looks like this basically is, being from the same developer and all.

Unfortunately i't doesn't look like there is a Saturn version, but I honestly can't complain. I'm just glad that you shared this info. I HAVE to hunt this game down!

The 1080 games and Snowboard Kids games. Never really cared for any other Snowboarding games.

SSX 3 was the pinnacle of the genre for me.

They dialed back the "silliness" of Tricky, the online modes were great, and the graphics and gameplay were just beautiful.

I managed to snag a copy of Trick'N Snowboarder yesterday! The first Game X Change I stopped at had a copy for 6 bucks and I gotta say it was well WORTH it! It has all the rush and pick up and play fun that Steep Slope Sliders has.

So far this and SSX Tricky are battling it out for play time. Had you not mentioned Trick'N I don't think I ever would have given it a second glance had I come across it! Thanks roushi!!! :hail:

Coolboarders 4 on the PS2. It's way different than on the PSX. I've always liked 1080 and had forgotten that the Cube had a sequel. Looks like I'll be adding that one to my list. I love the purity of the original SSX, although they're all great in their own way. SBK was fun...I found a loose cart in the wild this summer. Amped on the 360 was good. I've yet to try the original on Xbox. Rippin Riders on DC is okay gameplay-wise but had really great graphics for it's time. I guess that I haven't really found a snowboard game yet that I truly hated. As a genre they're all playablee to some degree.
