Lookie what I found outside Circuit City today~

Xbox 360 Kiosk

It's missing the Television, 360 unit, 360 Power supply, av cords, and controllers. Otherwise it's complete.

The fans need replacing (they're pretty standard) but it seems to be in good condition.

Took me two hours to put it back together. (That's my 360 in there because I thought it would be fun to see one in there..)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v17/otknot/DSCN0981.jpg

It had two keys with it and a screw bit.. Made it extremely easy putting it back together.

I am not really interested in keeping it.. so if anyone wants to PM me about it... I'm willing to sell. I might post it up on eBay if I get the time.

I also found this outside too. The side art seems to be peeling a tiny bit.. I think it's not a problem though.

Nice find Otoko. It always amazes me that some states(like yours) will get to the point where they will throw these out with the trash. But in other states(like mine) this would have been sold as soon as the liquidation sale started. Or at the very least an employee would have taken it. In Maryland you will NEVER see one of those kiosk thrown out from a store.

Yeah, the closest I've come is getting some promo signs when GameStop got a double-shipment. Heck, I've seen Microsoft reps in the stores, chewing out the employees for taking home in-store displays BEFORE they're supposed to go up!

M$:"Where's the Aerosmith sign?!?!"

GS:"It's at Bill's house."

M$:"IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE AT BILL'S HOUSE!!!"

GS:"Well, Bill doesn't work again until tomorrow."

M$:"I don't care. You're putting it up today, it NEEDS to be up by 4. And so does all that stuff that YOU took home!"

GS:"...you guys suck..."

I didn't go to the flea market today, instead I had to go pick up some photos that my sister wanted developed. On the way back, I got on the wrong bus, which left me a few blocks away from where I was trying to go... but I walked next to a second-hand store that's been in town for a little while, and they had NES games for a cheap price (for Mexico, anyway.)

They had around 20 NES games, but I only picked up The Jetsons - Cogswell's Caper, loose, almost mint (it has some top label damage). I may go back for Mega Man 2 later. :)

I already had a copy, but this one's in better shape.

And while they aren't game-related, I might as well mention that I got several promo posters for The Spirit for free.

Bossman brought in a couple of boxes he found in his attic. Has a complete Sega Saturn, NES (front load), model 1 Genesis and N64. Also some original Atari 2600 joysticks and a big pile of power adapters and controllers for other systems I have yet to sort through. There are a few Genesis sports games (Madden 9x) and Virtua Cop for the Saturn.

100 for the boxes is the deal we struck. Comes outta my paycheck in 10 dollar tax-free increments. Can't go wrong with that :)

Just scored cart only versions of the Xonox Atari 2600 games Robin Hood and Sir Lancelot for $1 each at a Play 'N Trade. The guide lists them as $45 each cart only, but I'd imagine they are worth less currently. Regardless, what a nice way to finish out the year!

DON'T EVER ASK THE EMPLOYEES or they will become aware of it. Look at the list of penny guides on the thread on CAG.

Penny guides are amazing. I have made a few hundred dollars off of them in the past year. I have also been banned permanently from shopping at 2 circuit citys and one best buy though. >_>

Can they ban you for just shopping? did they have a limit on that item at the time? sue for all there money you will become a millionaire in the negative :king: Well, I was the first one on CAG to find out that CC had penny guides, and my friend and I got over 300 in two months.

When I went to take advantage of a game sale where they give me a $10 gc, they said I was on the banned customers list and refused to sell it to me.

They also refused to sell my friend gears 2 when he went to get it there for the extra weapon or w/e.

Yes. A few years ago Best Buy was clearancing a bunch of factory sealed dvd promos that were initially given away with a video game purchase. They were marked down to a penny a piece and I tried to buy ten of them for the dvd cases and they refused to sell them to me. I asked to speak to a manager and he said they couldn't sell them to me because I might sell them online. So later that day I called and spoke to the store manager who told me pretty much the same thing and that his employees handled the situation well. Needless to say I have never shopped at that Besy Buy again but I have stolen a few things from there as a form of....karma for them:angel:

I can't comment on the stealing, but I will say I stopped buying penny guides years ago because the damn things get too heavy when you have too many of them stacked up. I need to unload some of the ones I have soon.

But yes, they're not supposed to sell them to customers. Years ago, when I worked for FYE, one of my responsibilities was to destroy penny guides by shredding them and spray painting the remains to make sure they were destroyed. As a gamer, it felt like I was committing murder every time I did it...not that I know what that feels like.

I was getting pretty bummed reading about some of the nice end-of-the-year finds, and me finding squat lately. Then yesterday I found a fat PS2 w/ hookups and a network adapter on it for $16 after tax at Goodwill. Not bad at all, and turns out it reads everything fine, though the tray does need a tug in order to stay open. So I was satisfied with that... at least I'd found something.

Then this morning my 2-yr old son was driving me nuts, so we had to Go. Nothing at Savers, so Salvation Army was next. I'd just been thinking how it has been forever since I'd seen any good Target stuff their (I've gotten several Wii items there in the past... Target returns, damage, etc.). First thing I see is a Wiimote, then the Blu-Ray Iron Man, and well, eventually found all of this in the glass case (it was a mess and took a while for the very nice woman to dig stuff out for me). I probably missed some good stuff (piles of new cables and cords), but with a 2-yr old sometimes you have to cut things short.

Talking to the woman it turns out they actually had 2 Wii systems yesterday that they were 'testing' in the back, and she said they tested Rock Band, too, so that's good. They ended up selling the Wiis for 250!!!

Grand total spent: $121.53. Here's hoping everything works; I'll get to test it out later this afternoon.

The hard to see thing (sorry for the blurry pic) is The Dark Knight special Target edition DVD set (comes in a cool mask shaped case). The Gen games are complete and were 1.99 ea.

Here's what I got at a CD/Game Exchange this afternoon:

NES:
RoadBlasters (cart only) - $1
Circus Caper (cart only) - $2.50
Ghostbusters II (cart only) - $2.50

SNES:
The Addams Family: Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt (cart only) - $4

Dreamcast:
Expendable (complete) - $2.50
Urban Chaos (complete) - $2.50
House of the Dead 2 (no manual) - $5

Probably overpaid for a couple things, but overall, not a bad way to end the year.

All I've found recently was an odd light gun. It's shaped like the Sega Master System light gun, but it's lighter in weight and a strange dark blue-green color instead of it's usual black. It doesn't have any identification on it other than 'Made in Japan', and the strangest part... on the end of the cord isn't a standard 9-pin plug, it has what looks like a power plug on it. It looks like a Genesis power tip on the end of the cable, which I've never seen as a plug for a peripheral before. Strange. Only paid $1.99 for it, and got it just to find out what the heck it is.

Well, here are my last finds for 2008:

Magical Starsign (DS) - Was labeled $19.99. However, when I went to pay, the clerk told me that all the clearance games were 50% off during their post Christmas sale, so it only cost me ten bucks.:D

Prima's Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire Strategy Guide - $1.99 at Value Village

A lot of it comes down to the amount of time you spend looking for stuff.

People keep trying to hawk $10-20 NES games at me.

All it takes is a little luck.

I live in the Pittsburgh area and agree with the post above. None of that stuff would ever hit the floor. Someone in the back would either buy it up instantly or take it themselves.

Same here. However, I have found atleast a fair amount of good stuff that made it to the sales floor. Like the $6 Sega Nomad I found at Goodwill. It takes a lot of patience and alittle luck for finds like that, but it does happen occasionally.

I said this when I first started to seriously go after games and hunting for them. I found nothing but overpriced junk. Then out of the blue I hit the jackpot...running into nothing but pure awesomeness. Keep going back to your goodwill or pawn shop once a week and eventually you will find something, they get new stuff everyday. I hit up my pawn shop on Monday...nothing...went back Tuesday just cause I was bored and I found Banjo-Tooie and Turok 3 for $10 total. They didn't have these the day before.

my finds for this past week weren't so exciting. Picked up:

Kiwi Kraze (NES)
Bionic Commando (NES)
18 Wheeler American Pro Trucker (DC) for 10 dollars.

Banjo-Tooie (N64)
Turok 3 (N64) 10 bucks total.

5 NES games for 10 bucks.

Also traded Resident Evil 3 Nemesis for the PS1 to my friend for Mystery Quest (NES) Darkwing Duck (NES) and Micro Machines (NES)

I just picked up some interesting stuff from a local flea market. I got an atari 1200xl with a disk drive and lots of atari magazines, manuals, and 5.25 floppy disks. Apparently there are games on the floppy disks but I have no idea how to load them or anything. All the disks labels are hand-written so maybe there is something cool. I also got a "tele-games" console and the following NES games. Everything for $90.

NES games:
back to the future
dash galaxy in the alien asylum
raid on bungeling bay
robocop
iron tank
karate champ w/instructions
robowarrior
rescue: the embassy mission
a boy and his blob
trojan
othello
infiltator
rocket ranger
gyromite
ring king w/instructions
xevious
720 w/instructions
3-d worldrunner w/instructions
adventures of dino-riki
heavy shriddin'
chessmaster
the legend of kage
mtv remote control
