View Full Version : My original XBox won't connect to XBL?

I decided today to give it a shot and I'm having nothing but problems.

I'm trying to run a direct connection from my cable modem to my XBox via ethernet cable. I've tried power cycling my modem and I'm still getting nothing. The system keeps telling me that the cables are connected but no connection was found.

I plugged the ethernet cable back into my PC and I'm obviously connected. Is it my XBox or am I doing something wrong? Thanks in advance.

What's the exact error message, and the system has never been modded has it?

Can you see if you're getting an IP on the console?

The system has never been modded to my knowledge. I just bought it at Gamestop a couple of weeks ago.

Alright, here's what's going on:

"Could not connect to XBox Live. Do you want to troubleshoot your connection?"

-Yes

Connect Status:
-Cables Connected

-No DNS Server addresses received from the DHCP or PPPoE server. Enter the DNS Server(s) provided by your ISP in the Network Settings menu.


...and that's all I've got. Anyone?

Used, of course. XBL isn't a huge deal to me, I just thought I'd give it a try. Certainly not worth the hassle of another exchange. Thanks for the tip anyhow.

The system isn't pulling the right information from your DHCP server (probably your router).

You're not banned from XBL. Do you know if your computer has a static IP address?
