Whenever I try to load Sony ZN-1 or Namco System 11 games (Tekken or Ergheiz or whatever) I just get some color bars. Does anyone have the same issue here?

The color bars (on the left I assume), are normal. However they should disappear after about 5-10 seconds.
All I can think of atm is that your PC is too slow to run the game (since mame emulates purely in software and not hardware accelerated)
Try an emulator called zinc, at http://www.emuhype.com/
It uses 3d acceleration and runs the games more smoothly, that is if you have a decent gfx card.
It's too early in the morning to think of anything else, I'll post if I think of anything else worthwhile.
Good luck and post your PC specs next time so we can see what we are dealing with :)

Buy Ehrgeiz for the PSX and an arcade controller. There are "some" stage differences and not as good graphically, but overall exact same game with the dungeon crawler RPG and mini games/infinity battle added.
The only differences in the stages I've seen(only played it on the arcade so listing what I can remember.) The first stage has people watching the fight, all of which who are also rendered in 3d. The last stage shows Django actually jumping into the pit rather than blacking out before he does.
Even though you'll have to pay for a game, it's much better playing an imperfect arcade port over not getting full speed.

when i push throttle at the color bars (to skip it) it goes at about 400% speed, so that's no issue. A few games do work, like Time Crisis, it plays at 31% speed. Another game that works for me is Battle Arena Toshinden 2. It plays at 100%, but the video freezes after the character select screen. The video also freezes if I try playing Crypt Killer. I'm thinking maybe it's a problem with MAMEUI, or something...?
Also I don't really want to buy that game, just to see how it's like. I'm really not a fan of Square at all.
