In a recent interview with MTV News, Sigourney Weaver discussed her potential involvement (http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2008/12/05/sigourney-weaver-appalled-by-offer-to-be-in-aliens-game-not-slated-for-ghostbusters/) in two upcoming ludological adaptations of hit 80s films in which she starred. Weaver claimed she turned down an offer to work on an Aliens (http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Aliens/) title as she believed the digi-Ripley portrayed in-game was "not true to the character." She also explained that the resumé of the Aliens developer wasn't too impressive -- one of their past titles was a game "called 'Rednecks', where you shoot animals."
We, and, more notably, Sega (the publisher of the pair of Aliens titles about which the MTV reporter was inquiring) have absolutely no idea what she's talking about. However, her feelings towards Atari's recently acquired adaptation of Ghostbusters (http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Ghostbusters/) were crystal clear -- she's interested in joining the cast, but only if the title is "high-quality." Oh, and if Atari finally greenlights her idea for a video game based on her "hit" 2001 "comedy", Heartbreakers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heartbreakers).Sigourney Weaver turned down Aliens game, interested in 'high-quality' Ghostbusters (http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/06/sigourney-weaver-turned-down-aliens-game-interested-in-high-qu/) originally appeared on Joystiq (http://www.joystiq.com) on Sat, 06 Dec 2008 20:30:00 EST. Ghostbusters looks legit based on the trailer/screenshots, minus the Wii shots which look straight from an n64 title. alien titles always appeal to me, who cares if she's involved?

God I love this woman, she has such tenacity.
If you have ever watched the Aliens movie in succession you would know what she is talking about as the Ripley character really grows and adapts, she obviously didn't like the material and I applaud her for that.
Weaver is a class act and will go down as a great female icon in cinema. I've liked everything she has been in and who are they to question her, seriously, who. Sorry but the woman has had one hell of a good career.
The fact that she likes the new Ghostbusters game makes me happy. :)

Wait, so she turned down aliens but is interested in heartbreakers?
she does realize that video games are not movies, right?

Not me. Was she involved in any of the other Alien/Aliens games? Did it make a difference?

I'm torn...
I love "Aliens" and I'd love a game, but I know a game would never be as good as I imagine it.
Lets just compromise and get Konami to release a home port of the 90's arcade game and call it a day.

No, seriously. Seriously. How much should I stress that she is turning down aliens for that!

We don't need her for a good Aliens game. The new squad based Aliens game is already looking super sweet without Ms. Weaver so she may now go back into seclusion while we continue our gaming sessions.

That line reads as sarcasm to me. I don't think she's actually trying to get a HeartBreakers game made.
I found a similar article at Kotaku. Only without all the negative spin.

I need to start finding the sarcastic smiley guy or something.
It is hard for you guys to see my tone of voice when I type.
And yes, I am dissappointed that she does not want to go through with a game based on the movie Working Girl (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096463/)

maybe she can convince rick moranis to get on board as well. i remember reading a while back when they first annouced the ghostbusters game that he was the only one contacted that wasn't interested in reprising his role because "he didn't need the money."

Yeah, because we all know that being a security guard pays so well these days.

Dude...he gave up acting to raise his kids after his wife died of cancer. And he doesn't need the money because he didn't squander it all like most actors. Cut the guy some slack.
Sorry, just trying to make you guys feel bad.:wink 2:
Seriously though, it's a true story...Rick Moranis, may the schwartz be with you!

but still, why not do it out of fan service, i mean, what would it take like a day of his time to go record some dialogue in a booth? His kids haveta be at leaset 18 by now assuming they were born before his wife died in '91.
I mean, I think if you're in any kind of business where how succesful you are is directly proportionate to how many fans you have, you owe it to those people to give them what they want. You can't have a good Ghostbusters game without Louis, and it would just be weird if everybody else returned except for him. It's like he's saying "yeah I know Ghostbusters pretty much launced my American carreer alowing me to make enough money to retire and never work again when I was in my early 40's, but I think I'll pass on some simple voice work."

If anything, he needs to atone for those horrible movies.

Actually, he claims he made enough money off the "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" movies.
yes, i read that, what i meant was that Ghostbusters was his launchpad in America. Would he have even been considered for HIStK if he was still and unknown Canadian comic back then?

Guys, having Louis Tully in a Ghostbusters video game would give Ramis a perfect chance to continue his sick and wrong belief that Janine would go for him, and not Egon.
Do you really want that?

I remember when Ghostbusters 2 came out there was talk of a live action show that he was all for at the time. He's done voice work for a few animated movies I believe. With enough prodding I'm sure he'd go for a game. Especially if Sigourney Weaver was behind it. Of course I'm picturing him as Louis in that situation "Gee, I don't know. Well...if your doing it then I guess I will too. Now that I think of it, it's gonna be dynamite."

What, SCTV didn't count?
Also, he worked on Brother Bear but he won't go near the Ghostbusters game? Man, what a DICK.
No Gate Keeper? Then who needs the Key Master?

Look, all I know is I just watched the both of em back to back a couple of days ago, they are 2 of my most favorite movies, and ever since the GB3 Preview in GI, I've been praying that it does not get phyucked up. In regards to the Moranis thing, he's an essential part of the Ghostbusters legacy, and if he doesn't want the money then he should at least do it for the nostalgia factor & the fan-service factor. I don't know about any of you, but I've wanted a Ghostbusters 3 for quite some time. And since we all have to be realistic about the fact that not Murray, Akroyd, Ramis, or Hudson are going to pull a Harrison Ford or Sylvester Stallone and get in shape and buy some hair to do one last film, this is as good as it's going to get for us fans, so they BETTER NOT SCREW IT UP! In regards to Sigourney Weaver being a part of it, I say yay, merrily.

Rick needs to change his last name to Moronis if he doesn't do the voice work for this game, and everybody else does it... he'll lose alot of his fans
and if his kids are so important to him, then why doesn't he wanna do some simple voice work to leave them with even more of an inheritance? MORON!
