I bought a repro of EB Zero off a DP member awhile back, and have been playing this morning a bit further than I did when I first got it (Fallout 3 kinda ate most of my time for awhile ;) ) I'd never played this before on emus or anything and am looking forward to it.
I'm beating up hippies and refuelling on my mom's pepperoni.
Awesome.

I've got one as well, but I've got way to many NES games to get through, and too little time. It's on my list eventually. Looks pretty cool though

Picked up a repro myself recently, but haven't given it the time it needs yet. However, with Devil May Cry 3 finally behind me, perhaps I can play that one soon.

How complete is the NES repro? It is complete? Is it any different than the SNES?

I barely remember the SNES - hence why I was looking for a copy awhile back (still am)
I figured I'd play through the NES in the meantime :D
SNES version is way better to me. I remember Zero being a grind fest.

It's 100% complete, and a totally different game.

I recently learned that Mr. Tomato (responsible for the Mother 3 translation) expects the translation patch for the Mother 1 portion of Mother 1+2 GBA to be completed in a matter of months. It will be more faithful to the original Japanese script than the Earthbound Zero NES script, and will also have some convenient features, including an "Easy Ring" that will reduce the need for grinding if you choose to equip it. (There's also a patch that will add said item to the NES version - though that won't help you if you're using a repro, of course.)
I'm holding out for that patch before I engage in some Mother 1/EBZ goodness.

... for without effort, achievement is truly worthless.
I agree.
I spit on your "Easy Ring" sir.

If your a fan of the original Earthbound, you will love Earthbound Zero. It is a completely different game with different characters but has the same kwirky humor and animation. I highly recommend giving it a try.

There's a spot where you can auto-levelup if you have a turbo controller. I use an NES advantage. Anyway, in the town with the street gang later in the game (I wanna say Ellay is the name), there's a gang member you can talk to and get into a fight with. Use your trailing party members to trap him in a corner, face him, and turn on your turbo A and tape down the button. You will talk to, and auto-attack over and over until you beat him, and then talk to him again, and so on. He can also drop flamethrowers which are good items for Loid. It's not super great EXP but it does work. I am partway through Mt, Itoi and need to grind more to make it the rest of the way.

I purchased mine from http://www.videogamekingdom.net/. Although the site looks like crap, and the carts are a little more expensive than many other repro sites, he does a good job with the insides and he keeps them in stock, so they're sent out quickly instead of "within 5 weeks" like most other repro sites.
That's the place I recommend, since I'm highly impatient sometimes.

There's a local second hand gaming store that's selling this cart for ... wait for it ... $100.00. Yowza.

Remember folks, that's Canadian. This means it's being sold for about 130 US.

Close but no cigar ;) it's about $85.00 USD
But its been sitting there at $100.00 even when the Canadian dollar was worth $1.10 USD.
They're also selling a Zelda romhack for $100.00 as well, and chinese multi-carts at about a dollar per game (52-in-1 is $50)

Our dollar is currently worth less than the US. I really don't know what else to say about this, I was speechless for a few minutes after reading that. O_O

With unique kind of games like repros and pirates, stores can pretty much ask whatever they want. Some stores I've been to say that they price some games high so they won't sell quick, they like keeping certain games in stock for customers to see so their store is considered a place to get hard-to-find games.

It's not like they actually sell for $100. LOL
I don't bother trying to trade in anything to any stores anymore, and there's very few stores where I actually buy anything. When they offered me next to nothing for games that I originally bought from them at high prices, I learned to avoid dealing with most stores. When stores offered me so little, I thought "Why am I paying so much for games if they're worth so little?"
I would feel comfortable with stores paying 1/3 to 1/2 of the selling price for games, any less and I feel they're just greedy. I know they have to make a profit to pay the bills.
